Hi,
For the claim what is the meaning of Pet History . Do you need vet history from the birth. I got my pup when he was 8 weeks old and he didn't have a vet visit prior to that because he was a health puppy. His first vet check up was around 8 weeks old and didn't have any health issues so far. If I make a claim in the future would it be ok to have pet vet history from 8 weeks old.

Sorry I really don't know. As already called up to cancel a policy. So my last and only claim was unsuccessful :-(

Agreed with comments below, should have saved that $3K

Yes every condition, be careful - you can go to the vet two days in the row with the same condition and if it is worded differently they will say it is two different conditions.

I believe it is a pre-existing condition so it would not be covered- what is covered is the condition afetr you take out the insurance and it is across all insurance companies. My advice is take your beloved pet to the vet hospital immediately and save her the pain and discomfort, The hospital may offer the loan for a treatment without interest if it is repaid within the specified time frame- ask the hospital. The best advice is to take out pet insurance when you bring your pet home. Good luck and all the best to your dog, hopefully she's had her surgery by now..

Hi Eva, many thanks for your reply regarding my Datchound, I did ask the Vet Surgeon who I know for many years if I could pay a Deposit and then pay off the remainder of the money because I am on the DSP PENSION and you know how very difficult it is just to go to the Bank and withdraw $1,090.00 for an operation, this Vet Surgeon Refuse me to do this I must pay this amount before the Ear Operation of my dog, luckily I rang Centrelink and asked them about the Advanced Payment they told me that I can borrow $1,200.00 so I went in for this because I am out of my mind worrying and being upset and emotional about my dog. She will be operated on this week. Her ear is very painful and deep inside the ear is swollen too and the blood clot, I've kept her calm and always cleaned her ear inside as the Vet told me, she is very alert and she is healthy and can see and hear very well. I love my animals more than anything and they are my whole life and my children. I never had any children so they take the part which children would've and they are always inside my place with me.
I think it is necessary that there should be Organisations for people who are sick, poor, on an kind of Pension to help these people and to assist them moneywise to have their animals operated on Vet Fees are extremely high!!! Not just for operations but just for anything their pets need like "Petmedical Fund" or something so many people suffer it is terrible!
I wait for replies.
Thanks
Amanda

Do they cover dental on a cat?

Yes they do. BUT, if you are not covered already, they won't as it is a pr-existing condition.
People need to get their pets covered as young as possible, then they WILL be covered for these types of treatments.

I got my cat insured through medibank on 16 September and unfortunately with bad timing he got a paralysis tick and I found him almost dead on 17 October, I didn't know there was a 30 day exclusion period. But I found him and rushed him to the vet and then called them, they advised me that it was the 31st day and that I may not be covered as the tick is a per existing illness because the tick would have been on him within the 30 day exclusion. But first sign of anything was 17 October from me my family and the vet, does anyone know any info on this, they haven't declined or accepted yet. There not sure yet I think hey are trying to find the loop hole. Talk about bad timing couldn't get much worse than that.

There are always waiting periods, in my situation a waiting period did not apply. My recommendation is to ask Medibank if they have an internal review process and if your case can be reviewed, given your circumstances

Patricia

I had a similar experience, not the waiting period but Medibank claimed my dogs itchy paws were a pre existing illness. Therefore you would have to insure your pet from the day it was born for anything to not pre exist. Good luck.

Don't bother to buy any insurance from them. Check out the reviews, a lot of people found it difficult to claim money back from the insurance, and you need to provide the full medical history of your pet for the first claim if you have (I don't for my 9 year old dog)... I advice you should keep $50 monthly aside for your dog, and use the money when your pet needs, this will be better off when you found your frustrations with the claims in the future (unfortunately it is my current situation, I have paid for nothing >:()

Ok pet insurance has anyone on here had a positive experience. I think that all pet insurance are as bad as each other and now don't know if I should just take a policy with bow wow meow comprehensive for 287.33 per annum with a $100 excess and hope for the best and save the balance that I would have paid with another company as a buffer just in case. They all seem so difficult to deal with!

If your dog is young, has never been diagnosed with a medical condition, nor had any form of accident, and you have a Vet history which only shows routine treatment such as annual vaccinations, flea and worm medication, then you might consider it...by ruling out anything at all which might be construed as a preexisting condition, you give yourself a chance of getting reasonable piece of mind... however according to Choice magazine, an American study has clearly shown that the vast majority of people get back far less than they pay from pet insurance.
