I have our unit set to operate from 5.30am to 10.30pm. It's working like a dream but I have noticed the sound of the compressor on after midnight. The timer has been checked and is correct. Why is the compressor coming on so late? There is no high usage of the water late in the evening and we run it on economy mode. Thanks

Cora,
When in timer mode the unit should be showing OFF when not in your hours. I have seen if I forget to turn the unit OFF after setting or checking the time that the unit runs when it requires heating..
So as not to avoid confusion you have set the on time as 05:30 and the off time as 22:30. Also if there has been a power failure the clock looses its time (remembers the ON / OFF times) but you need to reset the unit again with the correct time.
Remember the clock is a 24 hour clock, so 1pm is 13:00, 7am is 07:00, 7pm is 19:00, so please check the time on your machine again...

Hope this helps

Please let other readers know if this helps, rather than just get the info, fix the problem...

Cheers Neil

Why does this 170 unit get so much air in the system? It spurts water all over you when you first turn on the hot tap every morning and after a short time of non use. It is not just my unit as there are at least 6 others that are having this problem locally.

I don't get this problem. Maybe it's not filling up properly or your plumber didn't install it properly?

It's not just me, I have spoken to a number of people in 3 separate towns in Vic and SA and most have the same problem. I have changed pressure pumps and non return valves with no change.

I am sorry I can’t answer your question. I am not an engineer or technician, just a satisfied customer so far. I would suggest you take this matter up with the company

Why is it that every time we have a power failure we have to go out and reset the Media Heat Pump hot water service. It does not come back on automatically when power comes back on. This never happened with our conventional hws, it always came back on line automatically. Also Chromagen claimed this Media system would reduce our power usage significantly which has not been the case, if anything our power usage has increased. Any ideas?

It seems that the 170L does not come on automatically, while the larger Midea model does. I think this is a poor design choice! Presumably it is a safety feature due to the unit not being smart enough to ensure it is filled with water?

In addition, if you were running the previous storage HWS from an off-peak or controlled load tariff, and are now running the heat pump using peak supply, the $ savings will be minimal.

So, since this model requires manual power-on, it seems is not a great option, as in practice you cannot run it from the controlled load.

I would suggest you set the mode to 'economy', minimum temperature, and ensure the heating times are during the day when the ambient temperature is warmer.
