Faulty but a very happy outcome
Had a Solar hotwater system installed 3yrs ago, works well in the sunny days, not so good on long dull or overcast days. Rang Sandy from Modern and she was awsum to say the least. Helpful from begining till end. System is now running at 100%, tradie that fixed it 1st class, Sandy your a DIAMOND !!

Very good System but cost of service may be beyond my means
We have a Modern Solar Hot water System already It needs servicing information on side is so faded can’t be read can’t find my paperwork either so perhaps you can get back to me 0406331623

Solar hot water worst customer support ever
Worst customer support ever.
Installed a solar hotwater system March 2016 for $5.500 telling me it is top of the range system.
The controller failed February 2017 and was replaced accordingly under warranty.
The same part failed again end of October 2017 as it seems the system is getting too hot. Now Modern tells me the system is out of warranty as the system is over 1 year old???
The system clearly is not designed properly.
Modern tells me a programmable temp controller will fix the issue but this will be around $800 to $900 and is not ...Read more

we have been a customer of modern Qld for approximately 20 years, with roller blinds,guttering, solar hot water and plantation blinds..we've had terrific fast service and the product and installation has been top notch.

Had solar for a few years and have had no trouble with them, and modern have phoned often to see if everything's fine.

BEWARE OF "SMALL PRINT"
I had solar installed 4 years ago and it has been fantastic. No bills, no problems - happy days. BUT - the Inverter chose to die and having researched Aurora inverters that the Modern Group supply, I find out that they have a life of between 4 and 5 years. The warranty is 5 years and when I called Modern they fobbed me off to another company telling me to take it up with them. They did offer for an electrician to come and check it at a non refundable cost to me of $155. The code on the unit EO31 means that it is beyond repair and needs replace...Read more
ment. I have had several emails back and forth to Modern and they are just not interested and refer me to the small print on the warranty. The complete solar system cost me over $10K, and has lasted only 4 years. Furthermore, I have been told that if/when the unit is replaced (not by Modern) the unit will only be covered for the residual of the original warranty - WHAT A JOKE!!! So, the money you save by installing solar could be spent every 4-5 years to replace an inverter that costs almost $4K. There are far better products on the market as Modern obviously use cheap and nasty components and really don't care about customer service.4 comments

Didn't deliver in what was quoted
The sales rep didn't understand that we wanted to reduce our power bill to $0, despite telling him this numerous times. We are not solar experts so we trust their advice, but sadly ended up with a system which only meets half our power requirements.
Modern Solar over promised, and under delivered. We feel extremely screwed over.

Quick install
I'm from Brisbane, been looking at a few different companies. Had modern our last Monday, the guy explained what systems they had. Cut a long story short, signed up on Monday night and the installers were here on Wednesday morning.
System looks neat and tidy. Would recommend.
