Booked china 10 day trip
Booked with WEBJET for our trip for 20 april 2020. by january they were emailing us saying that we needed to deal with nexus their travelling partners for information about covid19 so they dumped us and passed the buck to a useless agent like nexus who said that if our trip is cancelled from Covid-19 that they would refund us.as of today we have had no further contact from them at all .both these travel agents are absolutely useless for your own sake stay away it will cause you a great deal of stress pain and mostly a large whole in your pocket like all of us on these reviews.

Don't deal with nexus holidays
We also booked to go to China in May 2020. Paid a deposit through Webjet of $1078, due to Covid-19 the tour was cancelled. Webjet didn't wanted to deal with it and palmed it off the Nexus Holidays. We were told by Nexus Holidays we will only get a partial refund and have a non-refund amount of $400. The partial refund will take 12 weeks, not even sure we would receive this amount. A loss of 37% is a substantial amount for us as we are pensioners. We will not deal with webjet or nexus holidays again.

NEXUS HOLIDAY where is my REFUND?!
I was booked for a China Tour in February and due to COVID-19 it was cancelled. Nexus offer me an option of a Credit voucher or refund. I chose the latter but was charged $400 pp. I was not happy about this as it’s not fair to us, the fact that the insurance i got from them also declined our claim and instead refund the full amount of the insurance. They promised to refund my money 6-8 weeks upon the cancellation of the booking which was on the first week of February but 16 weeks after and counting my refund has not been settled. 3 weeks ago a s...Read more
taff name KUMI replied on one of my messages and she asked me for my bank acct as they will transfer the fund within that week so i did what she asked but after that there was no reply coming from them and the fund is still not been transferred to my bank acct. This kind of service this company has done not just to us but to a lot of people will never be forgotten! We will make a legal complaint against them with this issues!Similar opinion? Please help us Nexus Holidays have not paid us back for a trip to Japan that they cancelled
I am very concerned about a Nexus holiday package to Japan which was due to go ahead on 19 June 2020. I paid $4114 to Nexus Holidays for myself and my husband on the due date 19 February 2020. Nexus holidays then cancelled the Japan trip due to insufficient numbers on 11 March 2020.
Nexus Holidays promised a full refund in 6-8 weeks. We have still not received a refund as of today 13 May 2020 and we feel sick with anxiety that this money has not been reimbursed. We need this money immediately to cope with bills and family members losing their...Read more
jobs etc during this stressful Covid 19 time. Nexus holidays keep using Covid 19 as a cover, they refuse to take phone calls, and emails are responded to with a standard response. Hard company to deal with
We too are booked to go to China May 2020. Nexsus travel told our travel agent we have to wait until end or March for more details about a possible refund but not without a fee of $400 each OR whether we can change destination again not without a fee of $400 each and the. The destination may cost more too!! They too have also said that they will still be touring at this stage in May WTH??? Are they crazy. Honestly bad feedback so far and not feeling very confident. Such a shame there are companies like this who really don’t give a damn about this coronavirus pandaemic and those who are wanting a fair square refund. It’s not like they still don’t have our monies. Not happy at all.

Situation: April group tour booked to China and I was seeking refund due to coronavirus and government advice listing china as a "Do not travel to country".
Their response when presented with the request:
- Coronavirus is unfortunate but don't worry we are still going ahead with the tour.
-Since we are going ahead with the tour if you choose to cancel we will not be able to refund you anything except $40 of your full order.
-Advised them that it was unsafe and too risky so would like a refund. Especially since this level of risk was unknown...Read more

Not Happy
We have a 13 day trip to China mid May booked in Oct 2022. Have found out that Nexus want to charge $520 pp to cancel. They have offered another trip next year but it will cost another $300pp which doesn’t suit. They won’t confirm if our May trip is going ahead until mid April because, I believe if Nexus cancel they would have to refund whereas if we cancel we will lose over $1000. It’s hard to know what rights we have. I have logged a message with Consumer Affairs but they say it might take 15 business days to get back to me. Is there anyone with suggestions on the best way to go in this situation.

Nexus China Holiday
In April last year we paid $4000 deposit for a 11 day China holiday for April 2020. Obviously with the Corona Virus we are unable to travel. Nexus holidays want to take $750 per person ($3000 out of $4000 deposit) if we cancel this. As the government has stated Do not travel to China on Smart Traveler we asked Nexus what they were going to do. They gave us 3 options
1. Lose $750 per ticket and cancel
2. Pay $350 per ticket to transfer to another holiday
3. Move to one of their other tours later in the year (but with no guarantees and possi...Read more

Dodgy Webjet and Nexus
Booked in August 2022 a 11 day China tour for March 2020. This was cancelled due to the coronavirus and received email from Nexus they were cancelling the trip and we would be charged $300 per person cancellation fee unless we rebooked for future dates or transferred to another tour. Luckily I also followed up with Webjet as this is the company I booked and paid through. The person I wrote to, replied that they were providing full refunds for all February and March bookings. So I had two providers giving me conflicting information. Webjet did t...Read more
ry to back out and charge the cancellation fee however I fought it and looking at these posts I am one of the lucky ones. I booked six tickets and manage to get a full refund for all. I feel very blessed and lucky though I had to work for it as I believe that both in Nexus and Webjet are trying to cash in on the virus. I urge everybody to fight this as their view is you could claim this on your insurance and are trying to get away with it. Do not think I will ever use Webjet or Nexus again as the whole situation was handled very badly.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Nexus Holidays China
My mother and I booked a holiday to go to China in May 2020. We are currently in talks with Nexus in relation to refunds and trying to find out what they are going to refund if the trip is cancelled. Booked this through Webjet. Webjet are not talking to us even though they are the ones that took our $670 deposit each. Nexus have told us that Webjet keeps $300 and passes the rest on to them. I dont hold up any hopes of getting all of our deposit back, especially after reading previous review. Nexus have told me that they have refunded deposits,...Read more
but wont of course tell me how much. Can anyone else please share their experience with Webjet or Nexus in relation to them (Nexus / Webjet) cancelling their trip. At this stage I vow never to book a holiday with them again, unless of course I receive all of our deposit back if trip is cancelled.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Nexus NEVER AGAIN
Booked a china Holiday package tour in July 2022, for travel in early March 2020. Due to corona virus had to cancel the trip. They are withholding $580 for lost deposits and their admin fees.. exorbitant and ridiculous. Today I get an email that I am being deducted a further $100 due to cash back scheme. This scheme was applying for a debit card which was supposed to be loaded with the $100. I NEVER completed the process as I didn't want another card!!! Never Ever again will I book thru Webjet or Nexus. I found cheaper deals at the time but mistakenly thought better to go with a reputable company!

Don't Bother
We had a trip to China in Oct- Nov 2022, while the sights were interesting and the people we were travelling with were fantastic, Nexus organisation was poor. Accomodation was average not 4 star as believed to be, constantly on and off buses, same food every day on day trips, we hardly had time to enjoy any of the accomodation facilities as we were always getting there late. some didn't even have room service and we were so far away from anything where we could go for a walk and get something, we were actually left on the bus for 2 hours while some of the people we were travelling with were out on a river cruise and this was at night, we could have been at our accomodation. Never again.

PRO TRAVELER REVIEW OF NEXUS
I have travelled the world twice. I have been on many cruises and many tours. I can safely say Nexus Holidays and tours is by far the worst company I have ever encountered in all my experiences. We cancelled our trip to China because of the coronavirus (not nexus' fault). They are keeping $400 per person, worth of our booking. Which seems very steep to me. I have cancelled tours before and they kept a small and understandable fee. The worst part of this was when they rang my wife (without my knowledge) and blatantly lied to her assuring we woul...Read more
d get all our money back if she purchased a particular insurance product worth $300 (before our knowledge that they were keeping $400 per person and refunding the trip)... Nexus' are refunding us directly, taking out $800 and the insurance product that they blatantly and admittedly conned my wife into didn't pay out and they've taken us for another $300 and they have informed us today we will get a refund in about 2 months. If you are looking for a tour and stumble across this company STAY AWAY!!!!! They should be considered as criminals and you are assured to have a run in with them at some point on your trip. I have never known a travel company to be so shady.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

We cancelled our trip to China booked six months ago due to the corona virus. Nexus claim they can’t give a full refund and want to keep $450 of our full payment.
This is against the law we will take this further. Stay away from these sharks

Could have been better
Overall the trip was good but there were a couple of big negatives that you should watch out for when booking the Indochina trip. The biggest issue was a demand of being tipped by the Nexus representatives from each of the tour guests, $65 CDN per couple within the first 2 days of the trip with the expectation of being tipped the same amount numerous times during the trip. It went so far as having one of the representatives follow you into the washroom to harass you on the toilet that a tip was required. There had to be a very firm conversat...Read more
ion with the representatives that each tour guide would be tipped individually for their services. After that conversation (and several others), the representatives did back off and let the tour guests tip what they felt appropriate to each tour guide. The other issue was the room upgrades were not as promised, all rooms were standard. We were sold on the fact that there were $700 in room upgrades included in the package and when asking each of the hotels they admitted that all room were standard and there were no upgrades. Other than these issues the tour itself was good, and we enjoyed all of the local cultures. Nexus does provide, at first glance, a reasonably priced tour, but watch out for all of the extras! Nexus has a lot to learn to become the Leading Asia Tour Operator it claims to be.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Pre paid tipping rip off!
Nexus took $160 from each passanger on a 38 passenger bus 16 day "Timeless Japan tour" this amounted to $6080!!!!
When challenged about this scam they simply blamed the contractor and said that the only guide was lucky..one guide.. $6080 something here needs to watched when dealing with Nexus

The Chineses holiday version of time share high pressure sales
Nexus tours are the Chinese version of the free weekend at a resort on the condition that you sit through a 2 hour sales presentation for their time share, only when you get there you find you are hounded by sales people every time to leave your room, then find that you are captive so if you want to eat or drink you have to buy their overpriced offerings so it ends up costing as much as if you had brought a decent holiday in the first place.
For the nexus tours of china it basically costs you the air fare. Nexus provides basic clean hotels, r...Read more
eliable bus transportation and a tour guide. They do this though receiving sponsorship by the various sales outlets they visit and through selling overpriced optional extras. They do take you to the attractions promised such as the great wall, although their visits are very brief as they need to take you to the next sales outlet. As an example, one attraction we visited was the summer palace in Beijing. The summer palace has hundreds of acres of gardens and buildings. One could easily spend a whole day there, however, we were given 40 minutes, as we needed to hurry off for a long drive to spend a couple of hours at some factory outlet. The optional tours are generally overpriced and poor value, with the tour configured to make it inconvenient not to take them. Further, prior to starting the tour Nexus states that one should book before the tour rather than miss out. The reality was that they were selling optional tours right up to tour time, then purchased tickets at required. An example of their MO with optional tours was the tour to the Forbidden city in Beijing. Like the Summer Palace the forbidden city is a huge place that would easily justify a whole days visit. On the day the tour group visited Tienanmen Square. It is a short walk from there to the Forbidden City. Although tickets for the Forbidden City cost about $12 and Nexus was not required to transport us there Nexus charged $80 for the optional Forbidden City tour. For that the tour guide accompanied them for a 90 minute walk. Those who did not do this (including my wife and I) had to walk around the walls of the city from the entrance to the exit and wait.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

11 Day Beautiful China Tour - Never again with Nexus
As a result of the price $899 + $100 compulsory tipping per person, we had a reasonably low expectation of the tour. However, while the actual sightseeing part was amazing and there were some beautiful spots visited, these were rushed so the guide could take us to a supposed cultural experiences. You were forced to listen to a sales pitch extolling the virtues of the product; how their product was superior in quality and cheapest in price. This was not the case and they were way more expensive than elsewhere. While I understand the guides get a...Read more
large kickback for taking their tours there, the high pressure selling and the amount of time spent at each place was overwhelming, and they added more than was in our original itinerary. It really didn't leave a good impression and we felt like we were being treated like cash cows to be milked. When we booked we looked at the type of accommodation they were offering and were pleasantly surprised. However, just prior to our departure we were given a new itinerary with different hotels. I can assure you they were NOT similar to what we were advised we would be getting and I am seriously thinking of complaining to AFTA or Fair Trading. Our hotel in Wuxi the Wuxi Jinjiang Grand Hotel was disgusting, and came complete with bugs, filth, and the smell of sewerage from our bathroom. I did not expect the best, I did expect clean. Another way of gouging money out of their customers is the hotels are so far out. If you didn't do the optional tours you were stuck in a hotel with nothing near to you. My husband speaks Chinese so we were the lucky ones. We did a couple of the optional tours and were glad we didn't do too many. The shows and cruises were excellent. Luckily we didn't do the Peking duck dinner, as everyone was so disappointed they paid $40 each and got 1 - 2 pancakes. We went our own way and went to an amazing Peking duck restaurant paid $40 for both of us had the whole duck, 8 pancakes each. The skin was crispy, and the whole meal was the best. If you are over 60 you can show your passport and a lot of the entry is free. However, Nexus pockets the money and still charges the same amount. The guides were happy to tell us how wonderful their politicians are, and how stupid ours are, which I found insulting and unnecessary. Each guide sprouts the same propaganda and seem like brainwashed robots. The tour guides changed the itinerary which wasn't too bad, except that left the last day in Shanghai with nothing to do. They advised they would take us into Shanghai if we did an optional tour with them and paid extra, or we could just stay in the hotel. The original itinerary had an outing in the morning into Shanghai, and free time after. We all felt cheated and ripped off. They should have taken us into Shanghai as per our itinerary and not charged extra. Having said the above, I found the history, the people and the actual sights of China beautiful, and I wouldn't hesitate to go again, just NOT with Nexus, even at the low price it does not showcase Beautiful China, and leaves you feeling absolutely disrespected, cheated and ripped off.Similar opinion? Don't ever go with this company
My wife and I have just returned from a holiday in China with Nexus. Our tour included 3 buses of approximately 48 people, we were told at the time of booking that there would be a maximum of 30 people per tour guide, in our case we had 49 on our bus. As part of this tour there were a number of 'optional tours' in Beijing, however we were told by our tour guide that if we did not pay for these options, $650 in my case, then it was up to us to find our own way back to the hotel which was in excess of an hour away, when this was announced all 3 bus loads complained but these complaints were ignored.

When were you booked to go to China. We are booked for April and made full payment in a December. When we contacted them we were told we we could only get $450 each back out of nearly $2400pp we paid. Bought travel insurance they suggested when we booked and found that does not cover us for this event. Not happy Jan.

Hi Carol
we were booked at end of march. we are about the same in money lost, but have asked for a refund asap just in case they go bust and we loose all our money.
also another option is travel insurance may come into play as the travel warning has risen to level 4 which is dont travel at all, so we have a chance of getting back the difference with insurance
good luck
Thanks. I really can’t understand how that can keep $4000 when the airline is saying they will offer full refunds but we have to go through booking agent. Have sent another email and will see what happens. Might have to wait and see if they extend the warnings to April and try again with insurance.
This virus.. from what I am reading; is going to take a long time to get rid of. Wuhan being ground zero in China I can see the warnings staying beyond April. Nexus aren’t deducting $450, they are deducting $400, as per my email from them. And the fact they told us to buy their travel insurance and basically said “Thank you for purchasing through us for your insurance... oh by the way, you’re not covered” -They deserve every single nasty review they get.
Read all the reviews on Nexus. It sounds like most holidays planned by them have turned into horror stories.
