Hi Lindy!

Thanks a fantastic question :)

All our juicers are definitely BPA free (less than 0.01% traces if any, they can't actually measure the amount because it's so low)
They've all passed the comprehensive LFGB Food Grade Test!

https://www.tuv.com/world/en/lfgb-food-contact-grade-testing.html

And comply with AU, EU and US regulations

If there's anything else we can help you with please get in touch, we'd love to hear from you.

Hi Brian. Not sure what a 10 would look like, so I'd say a 9. The Optimum 600 extracts significantly more juice than other juicers I've tried, and the juice is clear and tastes great! I've had my juicer for 11 months now, use it a lot, and am very happy with it.

Optimum Appliances
Athena Solutions Pty LtdOptimum Appliances

Hey Brian, the Optimum 600 juicer is a cold press juicer meaning the nutrients will not be shredded with the faster traditional centrifugal juicers. The slower the juicer (and Optimum is the slowest on the market), the better the juice

I would rate it as a 10 but I'm obviously bias haha! Actually I would rate it a 9 as the 600M is a 9.5 with it's new improvements. A 10 would be our upcoming Second Generation H3000 which will be announced soon ;-)

Hope this helps!

Hi Heath, If by 'mouth size' you mean the top of the chute where you push the fruit/veg through, it's about 80 cm., so will take a whole small apple, beetroot, etc. It's a generous size, and therefore reduces the time needed to chop everything.

I have always had my goods in reasonable time although once I think their admin messed up and tolok a few weeks. I can only guess that stocks might have run out and delays around Christmas. I’m sure you will get it but that seems like a less than reasonable delay. It is still a great juicer.

Thanks for the responses. It helps to re-build lost confidence for good reason. First, after two weeks from order, to be told the selected colour wasn't available. Then, in early January 2022 to be told they were out of stock. Then again, on 27 January to be told of further delays as they were making improvements and to expect delivery by end of February. Justified scepticism I'd say but I will give the company some grace to respond with personal contact prior to taking further action.

2 answers

Katrina, I'm wondering whether you are using the right strainer? You need the fine one to screen out more of the pulp, and the coarser strainer is good for smoothies. If you have further questions, ask Froothie - they have good customer service. Good luck, it's a great juicer and provides far more juice than other ones I've had in the past.

Optimum Appliances
Athena Solutions Pty LtdOptimum Appliances

Hi Katrina, I can definitely help you out with that! I’d be glad to :-)
Here are a few points we've compiled that are important to achieving the best results:

1) Do not press/shove food into the juicer - Do not use a pushing/pressing/shoving force with the Optimum Juicer or any other slow juicer. There is no spinning blade and no dizzying shredding taking place. No pressing is required. Instead, simply let your food fall into the "chewing auger." Virtually no force is necessary, and forcing more food into the chute can cause too much vegetable mass to clog in the auger, resulting in pulp overflowing into your juice, or the juicer becoming blocked.
When juicing grasses, feed the Optimum Juicer a small amount of grass at a time, cutting the grass into short pieces approximately 3cm long. This ensures the waste can easily come out of the waste chute. You do not need to "clump" the grass into a ball. In fact, you can slowly feed small strands of grass, coriander, parsley, kale, spinach and other leafy greens without any force necessary.

A great tip for large leafy, stringy or fibrous vegetables is to remove the leaf from the stem, cut both leaves and stems into 3-5cm lengths and feed through gently, letting the auger pull the ingredients into the juicer, using the tamper only gently if required.
2) Juice low-fibre plants first, and high-fibre plants last - Here's a really important tip: If you're going to juice high-fibre plants like celery or spinach, juice them last! Why? Because the fibres in celery tends to accumulate in the ejection port at the bottom of the juicing auger. If this port becomes clogged, then "pulp overflow" will occur, sending extra pulp into your juice. Following Tip #1 though will minimise the chances of this occurring to almost zero.
As long as the ejection port stays open, the pulp in your juice will be minimised. The best way to do this is to juice low-fibre fruits and veggies first: Apples, carrots, etc. and saving the stringier, fibrous plants for last. This will lead to a much better result when your concern is the amount of pulp in the final juice.
NB: If you are planning on juicing large amounts and do not mind a very small amount of pulp in the juice another alternative (to ensure you do not block the juicer), is to alternate your leafy greens and stringy items, with the harder items like carrot and beetroot.
3) Insert red plug correctly - Make sure the red rubber plug/tongue/stopper on the underside of the juicing bowl, is correctly inserted into its slot. This part is removable to assist with cleaning but often not reinserted correctly. It acts as a pressure point to ensure pulp ejects from the waste chute.
4) Juice your juice - If you still find too much pulp in your juice, simply pour the juice back through the machine again and you will find that the second time through, nearly all the pulp is removed. You can also strain it through a nut-milk bag, if you wish, but that takes more time and effort.
Any other questions Katrina? My direct email is [email protected], the office phone number is 1300 309 900, any questions please just call or email us (or FB us, IG, Live chat… you can even mail us! We’re here to help :-) )

Hi Zen, The 600M is a newer model to the 600. The 600M has a Built-In Strainer! as well as a smaller chute to reduce the pulp in your juice. This is because all juicers with a big mouth will generate more pulp, including the older Optimum 600 and Kuvings. It's an inherent shortfall of the technology. We do have the H3000 that has a big mouth as well however it is a horizontal juicer (unlike Kuvings and the older 600 which are vertical) to ensure you get a big mouth without the extra pulp :-)

2 answers

Hi Gerd, you'll need to check the price with Froothie - I got mine on sale some months ago.
There's a central auger that squashes the fruit or vegetables inside the strainer at 45 rpm (I think I've remembered that correctly).
The juice is then expelled into one jug, and the pulp to another. You can always freeze the pulp to use later in soups, stews, or stock, if you want to - I do that a lot in winter, not so much in summer. I hope this is helpful to you...It's a great juicer, very strong and very quiet.

Optimum Appliances
Athena Solutions Pty LtdOptimum Appliances

Hi Gerd, The Optimum 600M Cold Press Juicer, which is our newest Cold Press Juicer, extracts considerably more juice compared to the traditional juicers. Its low speed of 40-45 RPM reduces the loss of nutrients caused by oxidation and increases nutrient absorption. Nobody likes pulp and residue, so we’ve cut the strainer out of the equation. With our built-in straining design, the auger handles the dirty job – clean up just became so much easier! The Optimum 600M is now on sale and is $294. Kindly note the discounted prices will increase once the limited sale is over. https://www.froothie.com.au/optimum-600-slow-juicer

There is also the new and upcoming H3000 that has truly incredible features: Pulp control mechanism, more powerful motor, better juice yield, portable vacuum cups and also the world’s first warming function (for nut milks and baby food)! The Optimum H3000 is $899 https://www.froothie.com.au/optimum-h3000

Hi James, congratulations on buying this excellent juicer - I'm sure you'll love it!
Use the fine strainer for juicing, the coarse strainer for smoothies, or for when you want more pulp in the juice, and the smooth one for nut milks. Enjoy!

Optimum Appliances
Athena Solutions Pty LtdOptimum Appliances

Hello James, better

The juicer has a fine mesh screen for harder produce (ULTEM/PEI Material), the coarse screen for soft produce including fruit (Nylon Material).

The fine mesh screen has holes that are smaller to allow less pulp into the juice. The coarse screen allows a much greater amount of pulp. (full of fibre to enter the juice)

In most cases the fine mesh screen can be used at all times, unless you are looking for a more pulpy juice, but this is your personal preference.

The no-hole/blank screen, sometimes called a homogenising plate (ULTEM/PEI Material) is used for making nut butters, ice creams and baby food and does not separate any liquids from the pulp.

Hope that helps!

Can pineapple be placed in the juicer without peeling it, also with pineapple do you have to take the middle core out of the pineapple first?

Absolutely - I regularly juice a whole pineapple. The peel has most of the bromelain in it, so keep it on, but it's a good idea to just roughly grate the skin back a bit, so that there's no risk of blocking the juicer. Leave the central core in, except for the very end bit. You can either slice the pineapple thickly and then cut each slice into thirds, or cut the whole pineapple into strips lengthwise - either is fine.
Hope this helps!

Here are some more juicing tips:

You can find tips on using a slow juicer and avoiding any blockage while reducing pulp here: froothie.com.au/Juicer-FAQ.php

Tip #1) Do not press/shove food into the juicer

Most of us have juiced with the old-style centrifugal juicing machines. If you recall, those machines require you to forcefully press/shove food into them, and allow large items like whole apples. You are required to push hard on carrots and apples to shove them into the spinning blade where they are shredded into tiny flying pieces.

Do not use this same pushing/pressing/shoving force with the Optimum Juicer or any other slow juicer. There is no spinning blade and no dizzying shredding taking place. No pressing is required. Hi Cristy - that's happened to me twice - a little alarming! I don't really know why it happens - but first I put the machine into reverse, to free up any bits that might be stuck, and then poured a cup of water down and operated it as normal. I find that most vegetables can go in whole or in large pieces, but carrots are a different thing. They're so dense that I chop them into, say, 5 cm chunks. I hope this helps. If not, call Froothie, or comment on their web page, and they'll respond quickly. Best of luck! such a great juicer, isn't it?

Hello Dan, better late than never :)
You can definitely juice sugar can with the Optimum juicer.

Here are some juicing tips:

For foods with hard seeds or pips (e.g. mango or stonefruit): remove any
hard parts from each ingredient before you juice it.
For leafy or fibrous vegetables (e.g. spinach or celery): separate the
leaves from the stems, and remove any tough, fibrous outer stems before
juicing the inner parts.
For frozen fruits and berries: ensure your ingredients are completely
thawed – before juicing

Hello Peidi W, thank you for your message. We highly recommend that you clean the juicer after every use to avoid the ingredients drying up and it is also more hygienic to do so.
Please find below some cleaning tips:

• Put two glasses of water through the juicer.
• Add a glass of water, while the drain valve is still closed so that the water remains in the juicing bowl.
• Press the reverse button. This ensures the pulp is pushed-out of the juicer.
• Open the drain valve to allow the water to flow out.
• Then simply disassemble the juicer and clean the remaining parts. You can just run them under the tap while using the supplied cleaning brush.

We hope this helps but please feel free to contact us at [email protected] if you need further assistance :)
