going for my 4th one
I had already owen three of these ovens, from late 1980,s. they were so good, I had to give them away so I could buy a new one. I cannot justify putting a conventional oven in the kitchen. I bought a 27litre combo to fit into an integrated kitchen ( backed large turkeys at xmas time too), it fine but the bigger one is coming back next few weeks, i cannot wait to buy 42l again.
bench height, does micro plus convection, very little cleaning, far less heat
nothing

excellent oven and micro wave we purchased a second one and got rid of the main oven
we have had a Panasonic microwave convection oven for more than 20 years. we purchase the dimension 4 over 20 years ago and it still works. when we renovated the kitchen the old D4 didn't fit in the space we had so we purchased the CD997S because it had one of the largest internal spaced with a small exterior dimension and it was the same kind as the D4.
we use it for every thing and found that we no longer used the main oven which costs 4 times as much to run and takes a long time to preheat. the only problem was that when we were using it a...Read more

So challenging to use.
Having had two Sharp convection ovens, I opted for Panasonic; so sorry I did. Takes forever to bake now; most cakes are gooey in the center, cookies burn on the outside edge, french fries burn on edges. So many disasters and it takes so much more time to cook food than recipe calls for. So disappointed as I love baking. I tried chicken wings and it took an hour and 10 minutes at 180C to bake. Way more than usual.
It looks nice in my kitchen.
Just does not perform as one would expect since using other brands for 28 years.

... after a faultless 20 years using the original Dimension 4 Microwave
Like the other reviews, mine is along the same lines. Extremely disappointed after only 18 months the unit has packed it in.... the thing is, its still looks as good as the day I bought it. I have pulled the original out of the garage until a decision is made on the make and model that will be purchased, however even though the unit was made in Japan... I will be staying away from Panasonic.
Looked good, worked well, Made in Japan.
Failed shortly after warranty expired

Poor choice of oven
Pretty much the same review as everyone else here: looks good, does the job.. but when it fails (and it fails hard and early) it's an expensive, miserable experience. My repair price in Singapore after the H98 error message was a faulty magnetron and inverter with the damage being ~AU$210... for a $1000 oven that means a 25% repair 8 weeks out of the short 12 month warranty. Do not buy this oven.
Looks good, does the job
Poor quality internals, expensive repair (25% of purchase price) after 14 months.

Disappointingly poor quality for a Panasonic
I have had this oven for about 3 years and been fairly happy with its performance. The only thing that annoyed me was how loud the cooling down fan was and how long it ran for after use. A couple of weeks ago the microwave stopped functioning. However, the convection still worked so I continued to use it. Yesterday I set the convection to preheat to 200 degrees and, after about ten minutes it beeped to indicate that it was preheated. However, when I opened it, the inside was stone ice cold.
As it is so expensive to fix, I am simply going to ...Read more
junk it, but expected better than this from an $800 oven. The $120 ALDI one I had before was still going strong after four years, and I wish I had not given it away. I definitely won't be buying any more Panasonic appliances in future - the quality is not what it used to be for the steep price. Relatively easy to use and it worked before it broke down Expensive, broke down after 3 years and costly to repairSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
They don't make them like they used to
We had a Panasonic Convection Oven which lasted 15 years before it packed up after two marriages, and 3 kids. We brought what we thought was a similar Panasonic product, and like the above comment thought that "made in Japan" would ensure quality and longevity of the product. Well we were wrong and are sorely dissapointed. The product just lasted 3 years after suddenly turning on for 10 seconds and then turning off. Luckily we had extended warrently and after taking it to the recommended repairer were told that the microwave is not worth fix...Read more
ing and we can look at getting a replacement microwave (and it won't be a Panasonic). Up until the time it packed up, the oven did what we wanted it to do but its just a shame that for the amount of money that you pay for top of the range and quality, you do not get the duration of product that you had obtained with an earlier model. We shall me looking at other brands for our replacement purchase. Up until it packed in, it did everything it promised. The stainless steel interior was difficult to cleant, and the dial selector was annoying For an $860 microwave you think it would last more than 3 years. Not happy, and not worth consideration.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Deteriorating quality
We have had many Panasonic products over the years.
We purchased what we believed to be a top of the line Panasonic NNCD997S microwave. It was made in Japan so we assumed it would be top quality.
Unfortunately, this isn't so. After the standard warranty expired, the unit started mucking up. The timer would turn off, cooking times were wrong, the unit turned itself off after 10 seconds and other problems occurred.
Fortunately, we had taken out extra warranty from the retailer so the unit was covered. Eventually the control board was replaced...Read more

Great microwave
We needed a convection microwave as we did not have an oven and Panasonic has always been my favourite brand so it was a no brainer. Yep $800 was a big outlay but we have been very happy with our unit. Yes we have had a faulty control panel 2 years out of warranty but after contacting Panasonic they were happy to pay half the cost, so we were ok with that, thank you Panasonic. Other than that issue we find the microwave easy to use, fantastic on convection and large enough to fit a lot in when cooking.
The look, easy to use, great convection cooking, plenty of cooking options
Cleaning can be a little tedious but nothing serious

The same as the rest with the magnetron failing after only 15 months (H97 error)

glowing review. Definately not, I have always been a happy Panasonic customer. Yes there is a fault in the unit, but if we get another 10 years out of this unit than we are on a winner. We use it daily and have used the convection option many times and love it. By the way we never saw the H97 error code on our display. Call me a sucker but I would probably buy another one if I had to replace this one, the ease of use is what we like, and it looks great in our kitchen.Similar opinion? Shockingly bad microwave
It has always taken too long on convection mode to cook anything. So I mainly used it for the microwave function. Recently I got the error code H98 come on the screen, and the unit has stopped functioning . I called Panasonic who told me that they would not assist me as my unit is 8 months out of warranty. For $1000 microwave it has a warranty of 12 months, that is not long enough . I told the person that we would be writing scathing reviews on line about this, and I was told that I would get a call back by a person called George. George told m...Read more
e that I had to take this huge microwave across town to their nominated repairer. It rattled loudly in the back seat next to my baby, and I was concerned for her safety, if I had to stop suddenly. The repairer insisted that I had to pay $55 for a quote, Panasonic would not cover this expense. After a couple of days Panasonic called to tell me that they would cover the cost of the part, and I would have to pay for the labour which comes to $105. They said I could pick up the microwave on Friday, which is today. I called the repairer this morning, and the repairer is still waiting for this part to arrive. What a hassle ! I have been a week without this microwave, with a freezer full of homemade puree foods for my baby. George told me to defrost the baby food using hot water in a bowl like his mother use to! Too expensive to repair
This is the second Panasonic dimension 4 I have owned. The first lasted about 10 years. The newer version has been a pain to keep clean. Too many nooks & crannies for dirt to build up. We never used the grill on the 2nd one, it just took too long to heat up.
Living in the tropics, we use the convection oven regularly, as it doesn't give off as much heat as a conventional oven. When it recently came up with H97 error message, we took it to our local repairer. Only to be told it needed a new magnetron & would cost $500 to fix. Sorry Panasonic. I will be looking at other brands for my new purchase.
Quicker to cook on convection than a conventional oven, due to not needing to per heat.
Too expensive

4-5 years old and going strong
We bought this as a solution to not having an oven whilst we built a house so it is getting used for microwave, defrost, baking, grilling (esp browning) and combination cooking on a daily basis. It has been great. Love being able to bake again after battling on with just a microwave for a few months. Will have an oven in the new house being built, but will take this with us as microwave/second oven.
No faults over the four years despite a lot of use. Easy to use, kids learnt to bake in it.
Just harder to clean than a microwave as food does get baked on just like an oven - but that is understandable. Use recipes from book provided - just need to brown and baste poultry a little more than a real oven or brown it with the grill.

Total Rubbish do NOT buy
I agree, unit was bought in 2009, paid for extended warranty 2011 the Mica Waveguide Cover Material fell off in two pieces and was told by panasonic customer care that the warranty doesn't cover it, although it's an important part of the Unit.
Extended warranty expired Jan 2012 - Sept 2012 I get 'H97' in the window display, called customer care more or less told too bad it's out of warranty. At the price I paid for the unit I'd expect it to last longer than 3 years. I have now been told by a repairer that it will cost between 100 to 300 to repair it. I may as well go buy a new one and I guarantee that it won't be Panasonic.
Customer care totally arrogant.
Total rubbish, don't buy it.

Panasoic dimension4 the genius
The panasonic dimension4 the genius microwave is only the 2nd microwave I have owned. My original microwave seemed like a childs toy in comparison to the dimension4. The size is amazing so much room for large cooking vessels. The two removable racks are great too for cooking two different items at the same time or for heating two large dinners together.
So far the only problem I have found is that it is taking a little longer then my old microwave for vegetables to cook for mashing. The stainless steel interior/exterior cleans beautifully and...Read more

The magnetron burnt out within 2 years of purchase and the turntable became noisy and often failed to turn, but, of course, out of warranty. I've been trying for months to find someone to repair it, and can't. I'm told by electricians that it would cost more to fix than replace. This is a very expensive oven, and while I like the combination microwave / convection features and used it often, I've been stunned by the poor quality and price. Junk. Avoid.
Combined microwave / convenction cooking.
Broke down when just out of warranty. Very expensive.

Took 10 mins to melt cheese when trying grilled cheese on toast. Failed within warranty period. Failed again 8mths later. Retailer refused to do anything about it. Been with Panasonic's nominated repairer for 8 weeks & no resolution in sight. In the process of taking this to NSW Fair Trading. Only used lightly by 2 aged pensioners & never on convection mode.

Hi,

I was using my Panasonic convection oven (which is over 20 years old) on roast pork function. I had food in a double Alfoil tray and a metal temp probe in pork. It was almost finished (after 1 hour) when it made a strange noise so I stopped it. After an hour or so I attempted to reheat Vegas on microwave setting, the machine made same noise and died. Is it worth repairing?
