Admin hell
I had a claim repeatedly rejected. It was a simple case, I had symptoms caused by taking antibiotics, backed up by declarations from both my GP and specialist. I had no symptoms prior to taking the antibiotics.
Peoplecare categorised this as a pre-existing condition. I provided a large quantity of medical information, which wasn't deemed sufficient to prove I didn't already have the condition. I don't know what other information I could have given. The review process is opaque and the 'medical' expert reviewing the information does not appear to be objective, or impartial.

The issue here is administration. ... Read more
My case was flagged after my specialist entered a Peoplecare form incorrectly. Reviewing the form, the specialist had to enter 3 dates AND provide an estimate of time symptoms had been present for. This was entered incorrectly by the specialist. The form should simply ask for the date symptoms started. Additionally, Peoplecare required me to obtain all of their medical records, GP's notes and test results since January 2016. This has a substantial cost and takes a lot of time. My understanding is that this is very unusual practice and that the Health Insurer usually requests and gathers this information. In my case, the administration burden was enormous. I'm still extremely unwell and having to gather large amounts of technical information myself has been admin hell. I even had to make a GP appointment for them to release the requested information and this information still wasn't adequate. I appreciate the team at Peoplecare are very nice people, but you're falling over in basic administration with poorly designed forms and pushing extensive administration tasks on to your members, who could be extremely ill.Peoplecare H.Peoplecare Health Insurance

Thanks for the feedback about our form, which we’ll take into consideration to see if we can make it any simpler as we’re always trying to make things as easy as possible for our members. Also, all health funds have a similar process in place for claims in the first 12 months. The onus should be on your doctors’ surgeries to provide the information our Independent Medical Officer needs as it should all easily come off their system. It must have been frustrating for you if they asked you to make an appointment to ask for the information and if they’ve made errors. If it makes it easier for you, we would be happy to liaise with your doctors on your behalf, although they may ask you to provide your permission to release your records to us. Please do let me know if there’s anything we can do to facilitate the process for you. Take care. Anita @ PeoplecareSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Intravenous Vitamin C (IVC) Drip Infusions
Hi, Vitamin C (IVC)
Does anyone know of a Private Health Insurance fund that covers Intravenous Vitamin C (IVC) Drip Infusions ? Wonderful aid for prevention of colds and flu. I have also found it a marvelous as a energy booster when administered (by Medical Dr.) in high doses of Vitamin C.
Shame,Shame on Govt for NOT providing a Medicare Item No. and Rebate.
Public Hospitals should readily make it available to the public.

Fantastic value
I joined up with Peoplecare shortly before needing 4 wisdom teeth out, I sent through a photo of my invoice for the procedure just before I went in the chair and by the time I was brought back out of general anaesthesia they had processed my claim, totalling $1,500, no questions asked. Unfortunately I had to cancel my cover shortly after due to finances which I feel quite guilty about considering how great they were. Their prices vs benefits were the most competitive I could find and the promptness of refunds was excellent.

This is the best for us
Our family have been insured by them for over 6 years, the cover we have no longer is available to new costumers but even the new ones they have are still good value. The one thing that sold us our policy was it had the ambulance cover Australia wide included in the extras.
We have no means to pay for a full hospital cover so we only have extras. Over the years we had to use the ambulance a couple of times, you get the bill, email it or send it to them, they do the rest. If you have a question, they are very knowledgeable and you don't wait 10...Read more

ou but never made a formal review. Mistakes, miscommunication happens, but it's on the long run you see the value on a product or service. I like having people on the phone that can answer my query, not an answering machine, I don't want people making money on peoples injuries or sickness. I like the fact that it is clear black and white policy, no fine prints. You try to keep the policy price to the real figures. From the time we took our policy we had no idea that our daughter would be diagnosed with a congenital disorder years later, and that we would need ambulance cover. But it is included from the basic cover and up. We had a few other health funds before but none had that level of cover, only if you take hospital cover you would have the ambulance. With Peoplecare it is in the first level cover for extras. I have nothing but good things to say about the services provided. Unless we get way over the price of other funds, I will stay with them.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Peoplecare have been great
We changed to Peoplecare because they were cheaper than our previous health provider and they have exceeded all our expectations. They covered many items not covered by other insurance providers and have been lovely to deal with. Each time we ring we talk to a real person without having to push a lot of buttons and my husband just received a call after recent surgery offering him a heap of services that are free under this cover. Can't recommend them highly enough.

I hate all forms of insurance as the costs are so high. But I've been a member with Peoplecare for 20+ years and always found their service is excellent and premuims extremely competitive, for the cover provided. They are 100% for their members, and not for profit or shareholders. Health insurance makes me sick but Ive compared and found peoplecare are the best of a bad bunch!

Patronising and unclear
There are two reasons for this review:
1) My doctor asked me to check with my health fund if a particular specialist was covered as it would save wait times. I didn't think it was but figured it didn't hurt to ask. When I did the man I spoke to was very patronising, basically talked down to me like I was stupid to ask.
You know, not all of us have grown up with private health cover and got it later in life. Sorry I thought that as a customer I could ask and learn something.

Great health fund choice
Have been a member since 2009, I extensively reserached funds at the time and Peoplecare were clearly the best value fund around. Have both hospital and extras cover and never had any issues. Still maintian they are good value as a often review our health cover. Excellent customer service. Recently purchased contact lenses from their online store and great value purchase that was easy and hassle free. Little known fund that is a really good choice for health insurance.

So far so good :)
I decided to transfer to Peoplecare because they get fabulous customer service reviews and are a members own fund which is important to me. There was a hiccup in the beginning with incorrect payments being taken out - my paperwork said one thing but they took a different amount entirely. I emailed them with my enquiry and their response was prompt, friendly and clearly explained. They made a mistake with the information they sent through on my paperwork and apologised for sending me the incorrect details regarding payments. Initial hiccup aside I am happy to be with them and appreciate that when I do have an enquiry it will be responded to in a prompt and friendly manner :)

I am new to Peoplecare and just joined last week. I looked at my bank account and realised a different amount is charged, so I called up and enquired about it. Updated Review 2015
I reviewed Peoplecare in 2012 and thought it time to update my review. I shop around every year and am pleased to report they are still 5 stars. This year I've had to phone them twice- both times a human being in Australia answered within 10-15 seconds. The changes I requested were effected immediately and I received written confirmation within 2 days. The customer service person gave a surname on the written confirmation, proof enough for me that their staff remain comfortable in their product knowledge and are willing to be accountable. Their coverage and benefits are good, and I pay only half of my excess if I'm admitted for day surgery. Recommended.

Hefty premium increases and poor customer service
Switched to Peoplecare after reading older reviews about how good they were. Unfortunately, since joining them, we've been hit with hefty premium increases for the past two years - 8.4 % last year and 9.2 % this year!
The Department of Health has published a table showing the average premium increases by individual insurers for 2015. aking us a little longer than usual to get to answer member enquiries. The increase in our premiums is a direct result of rising health costs (which are well above CPI), and more people claiming for healthcare services. Healthcare costs are increasing, because more people need medical services, expensive medical technology is increasing and hospital and medical costs keep going up. Peoplecare’s average premium increase (6.08%) is below the industry average again, and different levels of cover have increased by different amounts (because they’re all based on what they cost us). Thanks for getting in touch Steve. Sorry for the late response, we only just came across this one. Most funds don’t pay towards tests in emergency as the hospital considers you as an outpatient until you’re actually admitted as a patient.
