Hate the smoke
Does heat the house. The smoke pours out each time we open the door. Handle fell off. Disconnected the fan relay as it took to long to get goin again. Barbecues galore are terrible and say we are doin it all wrong. We had slow combustion heaters for 35 years. This is our 3rd. The 2 previous heaters were great.
Purchased at Barbeques Galore for A$3,000.00.

Worst wood heater we have ever had the misfortune of owning!
We have the Saxon Mahogany, and the only good point is that it can take really big logs.
It would certainly heat a large area if you could get the fire well established and burn at a fairly high rate. The problem is that in order to reload the box, there is a very real problem of smoke exiting the door into the room.
We, like others, have a 2.5m flue above the roof line. The only time you can open the door is when the fire is in full flame, any other stage, your home will be filled with smoke. I now have a stool under the smoke detectors ...Read more
to hush them every time I need to reload the fire box. It is impossible to avoid the billowing smoke, despite opening the door really slowly to equalise before opening completely. Given the health hazards of the smoke exiting into the room, the positive points about this heater fade into insignificance. Do not buy this heater, for almost $3500, there are far better options available.Purchased in May 2021 at Barbeques Galore for A$3,495.00.

Second time we have used the new heater, the fan doesn't work, but did start randomly during the day when the fire was not burning. How do we bypass the electronics?

Hi, I must say that whilst I think this heater is terrible and a complete waste of money, it does change from high to low pretty well. It will burn slowly all night. All I can think of is that the bar that opens and closes has moved from its proper position and is not closing the air holes correctly. Try and check to see what happens as you slide the air intake open and closed. Hope this helps.
