My Experience Shopping with Scorptec
I saw a few negative reviews before ordering here so I though I'd leave my review too.
After being stuck at home due to the pandemic I decided to order some PC parts to build a new PC. It took them 10 days to find and ship everything and another 7 days for the components to arrive.
Generally speaking those times aren't the best, but when you factor in the delays associated with supply chains and delivery in general due to the pandemic, then I'd say those times are excellent.
I think others will also be satisfied shopping with Scorptec as long as they have realistic shipping time expectations.
Keep in mind I haven't used their customer support since everything turned out fine, so I can't really comment on their aftersale staff.

Lost me as a once long standing customer forever
Sold a product on the recommendation of their salesperson which turned out to be not fit for purpose and refused to take it back or apply a credit- so disappointed. Was not warned headsets were a non returnable item and despite asking for a quality product to use for virtual training- received one that required the cord to be attached to a telephone connection. Could not use them and wasted $350. Wii never shop there again.

Fast and reliable
We had been let down by a large retailer with our ordered sitting on various stages of processing for three weeks before being abruptly 'cancelled' (on the day of my son's 13th birthday, which it was supposed to be the present for). Looked at the same item in scorptec - it was handy to be able to see it was in stock after our last experience. We paid a little extra for fast delivery, ordered on the Tuesday and arrived on the Friday. My son is super happy and on the laptop now :)

Very good experience getting a custom PC built
The online system builder was very helpful, as was the website. The process of ordering was good, communication was good. Despite Covid-19, components were sourced quickly and the the build was done two days ahead of the first ETA. The pick-up process was good, and clearly with a lot of focus on staff safety.
Most importantly, the machine was well built and well packed. I am very pleased with the process.

Great products and prices, a bit slow updating orders
Online store worked well. Found products, checked stock at local store all good, placed order and paid and selected pick up. this was at 8 Pm on a friday, no ready email at 11 Am next day so I call. Advised ill get a text soon but never happened. As store closes at 2 on a Saturday I just went in. Showed my order and the guys then went and picked stock. great service from the customer facing people, warehouse and online orders people need some improvement

Awful
Ordered a monitor that was listed as in stock, after purchased it became out of stock and was told it would be in stock in roughly a week. It got to midnight the of the date it was meant to be in store when I got an email stating it is expected a month from that date. Awful service.

Nightmare returns experience and awful customer service
In summary: My friend and I both had faulty products from Scorptec and we sent our products back on the same day. It has taken months (not an exaggeration) and still no resolution in sight. Customer service was minimal (you have to chase them, they just assume you want a replacement without contacting you first, and any problems that come up are yours to fix not theirs) and vague (they send you brief emails and use confusing language). I'm posting this in hope such a poor review will trigger some kind of resolution or action to happen. Go to a ...Read more
physical store (hard with COVID-19 but so worth it), I recommend DCOMP if you live near one of their stores. I could never recommend Scorptec to anyone considering what my friend and I have been through with them. SSD I bought from them died. I returned it and then bought another hard drive from a physical store because I couldn't wait weeks for it to be assessed. Without a hard drive you don't have a computer, and I need my computer for work/study/personal. Scorptec/Samsung deemed it to be faulty, and then I got a notification a replacement had been shipped. Which was fine, but I didn't want a replacement, I wanted a refund because I had already bought a replacement. I had also moved during this time (with a couple days of them sending the replacement to me), so it went to my old address. Moving is very stressful, so I didn't have time to update them on the new address. Also, I thought I would contacted to confirm the next step. My theory is that they offer replacements as the default to save money, as they still keep the profit from the sale and the manufacturer replaces the item, rather than refunding the whole item (and their profit). I have no proof that this is the case and this is pure speculation. The issue is most PC parts in a system are essential to it functioning, so waiting weeks or months for replacement parts is not a viable option in most cases. Customer service is very frustrating. Multiple calls, poor to no communication and poorly written emails. Basically, this was my problem to sort out not theirs. Scorptec advised I should have requested a refund in my return request, when it was not specified on the form you should indicate this. I don't care what Scorptec says, this is blaming the customer when they should be looking at their returns/refunds/customer service processes. Theirs customer service representatives had very little to no inclination to problem solve or help me out at all. I refused the delivery of the parcel and sent it back close to two weeks ago. I have not heard anything from Scorptec. I'm not sure whether they are hoping I will go away or whether there is some kind of delay. My friend who had sent back a faulty GPU on the same day as me is yet to have a resolution, so mine is not an isolated incident. My friend's case was more straight-forward, but still no refund or replacement. I have wasted so much of my own time on this, not to mention the stress it has caused. If you're thinking about going through Scorptec, don't. If you can go to your local computer parts store (mine is DCOMP and they are wonderful. I unfortunately found out about DCOMP after I had purchased my entire system from Scorptec). If you can’t go to a physical store, check out another online retailer.3 comments

. Unfortunately it is not feasible for us to confirm with every customer if they would prefer a credit or refund over a replacement - we find that nearly all customers will provide us with an indication on their preferred resolution when requesting a return, or as the return is being processed. Providing replacements will often incur a higher cost to Scorptec than providing a credit or refund due to additional processing & logistics requirements - as previously mentioned we provide replacements by default as this is the general expectation & preferred resolution for most returns.Hi David,

As previously mentioned, we have already increased both the size and operating hours of our customer service teams - the current volume of queries simply outstrip any reasonable capacity to provide the responsiveness that our customers typically enjoy. This is not unique to Scorptec, or even our industry based on the indication of most businesses currently operating during this crisis. Regardless, I have followed up with the team in regards to your call-back request. I understand that you do not believe either of the explanations regarding the preference for replacement or the cost of processing replacements. As I mentioned, we issue replacements by default as most of our customers are waiting on these items. Due to the continually changing market conditions, it is often the case that providing a credit or refund will result in customers being out of pocket when having to purchase a replacement or alternative product. When we provide a credit or refund, we typically recoup any loss of margin through the resale of the new replacement item at current market levels. As we provide the option to change your address for returns when making the application, it is generally not necessary for us to confirm a delivery address before processing a replacement. In our experience, customers who are in the process of changing addresses will let us know when making their application or when their claim is still outstanding at the time they are moving. In these situations our team will most certainly reach out to confirm the address and availability of our customer to ensure they are able to receive their item. I can see that your item originally made it back to our processing center in early-mid March, although the current level of restrictions were not in place at that time - we were already seeing notable increases in demand as well as ongoing international supply chain issues. I understand that this situation is frustrating and likely exacerbates the concern and uncertainty that we are all feeling during these times. Our team are doing their best to provide updates and resolutions as quickly as possible, if you feel as though we are not doing enough you can reach out to Consumer Affairs. As I mentioned, as soon as we receive the product that was sent out back into our processing center we will be providing you with a full refund. David | ScorptecSimilar opinion? Very Disappointing service
I called 5 times and left 2 voice message after hearing a saying someone would call me back. I waited a week an no reply. I also sent 3 emails for someone to call me, as I wanted to buy a few NUC's and IT stuff. Their voice message saying your business is important to us and they will call you back. NO-ONE called me back.
Why have a message saying your business is important to us and they will call you back and they don't? anyway, went to another PC place. Shame, Scorpio lost $10k of business for not returning or acknowledging my email.

Great prices and knowledgeable staff
I have used Scorptec before for a few computer builds and some hardware when I was GPU mining. Great prices and great staff. More recently I purchased a SSD portable drive which was competitive with the bigger retailers, and great postage times.

Misleading and Deceptive Conduct
Introduction
I've decided to write a new review for 2020 despite the ones that I have written in the past over the last 5 to 7 years; although they were more to do with physical bricks 'n mortar stores.
Perhaps as an act of God, mother nature and events that has occurred over the last 6 months in Australia as well as around the world as I type this... especially in our new reality of living and social-distancing as such. And what's more where most of us are given under direction to work from home.

BE WARNED!
Ordered a $3000 computer from this mob. Provided tracking history when allegedly the item was sent.
It's been 5 days now and I still haven't received the computer, even though I paid for Express Post.
When I call Scorptec they tell me it's AusPost problem. When I call AusPost they tell me it's a Scorptec problem.
Scorptec are uninterested in doing anything about this and say its up to me to find out where the parcel is. (That's only if by chance you manage to get through to somebody on the phone. Usually it goes to an answering machine)
I'm down $3000 and Scorptec couldn't give a toss, even thought I paid for insurance.
Give this mob a wide birth. They're happy to take your money but after that you're on your own.

I like Scorptec Computers. They're reasonably priced, great range, and ship stuff quickly. Postage rates aren't through the roof either, unlike some other vendors. They also have a presence on face book so you can ask them questions there, wether its a question about a part, or what their stock levels are.

Quote price was increased before its expiration claiming it has expired (Quotes Attached) - They are liars
I got a quote for a PC roughly around 1988 AUD, The email clearly said quote expires on 09/04/2020 which is 3 days from now but When I called them, was told the quote has already expired and new price is 2236$. I send them the original quotes with the dates, but they said it is what it is, new price is 2236$
Can't be trusted, IF these guys are doing this before buying the product how are you going to trust them for 2-3 years warranty that comes with the product. They are here to fool us.
Funny Enough they put the quote date the same on both attachment. While the first quote was emailed to me on 23/03/2020 and the Second was emailed to me on 06/04/2020

At this stage it is unclear when we will be restocking the stores - this largely depends on further indication from both federal and state governments on how mandated shutdowns impact our stores. We are working on getting and providing clarification as soon as possible and we appreciate your patience and understanding throughout these unprecedented times.

I was just wondering how long it takes to process and dispatch the order. I heard that using AusPost express takes around 2-3 business days but I don't know how long it will take to process as the online status still says new and I haven't yet gotten a email saying that it's been dispatched (placed the order 2 days ago).
I also bought a monitor but when I saw the first confirmation email, it said that it was out of sale and when I checked the online website again, it said end of life. Does that mean that it'll be shipped when you guys have stock or is it gone forever and if so will I be able to get a refund? My order number is: 1301160, in case you needed that to check. :D

We're working as fast as possible answer all enquiries and dispatch orders safely and with minimal delay, however this is taking some time.
