Hi Nathan,

Thank you for your question. Yes, it is possible to take the black bar in the middle as well as the handles and doors off, however you will need to contact a Sharp Authorized Service Centre to be there when the refrigerator arrives, so they can remove and reinstall the parts properly.

Hi Nathan
I'm pleased Sharp chimed in there.
It might be an idea to ask Sharp for the exact dimensions sans bar and doors to make sure the fridge will fit. If it does, maybe you could add the removal work to your purchase negotiations?
We remain very pleased with our Sharp purchase

Thanks for the replies Sharp and Walton! I looked into this and it's going to cost $220 to remove the doors and bar. I then have to move the fridge myself into my house and then they will reattach the doors and bar. That's a bit much if you ask me.

we looked at this frig in store and love everything except....the doors feel as though when you get it almost closed there is a resistance as though it doesn't want to close. the frig was not connected to power so am wondering if there is a mechanism which provides positive closing when power is on? compared to the other fridges it seems as though it would be easy to inadvertently have a door left open.

Hi daryl, good question and one I wished we noticed too because yes there is resistance even when powered on. It needs a physical push to close (doesn't just slowly swing closed like our old one did if the kids left it open) so good to be aware of !

mac

I can't say I have noticed this on our Sharp fridge. I gave it a test and you are right there is a tiny bit of resistance that stops the fridge doors from self closing. This is easily overcome with a gentle push and the fridge also starts to beep at you if you have left the door open.

I have bought a Sharp SJF624STSL about 2 weeks ago. Its been running like a dream until about 2 days ago. I went grocery shopping and added a few items to the freezer, steaks etc and 2 days later they still have not frozen. Last night I dropped the freezer temperature from -18 degrees to -21 degrees and left it overnight and this has made absolutely no difference. My freezer goods are still not frozen and I suspect that the only reason that everything hasn't defrosted is because the freezer is maintaining a temperature a little colder than the fridge. This is a pretty serious issue that I would like addressed asap. As you can imagine I have food that is about to spoil in fridge/freezer that I purchased only 2 weeks ago. Any help? would be appreciated!

I haven't had this or any problems with the refrigerator or freezer. Does the manual have any troubleshooting listed in it? Or try resetting your temps (which you have probably already done) or putting back to factory settings. If you haven't already done so, I would contact Sharp or a refrigerator technician who might be able to give you some assistance over the phone. Sorry I couldn't be of more help and hope this problem is rectified for you soon.
Kind regards,
Peta (Dave's wife who actually did the review).

Definitely sounds like a fault to me. Mine is set at 21 degrees and everything is frozen solid. Usually only takes about 1/2 day to completely freeze a steak (should already be icy in an hour). Sharp seems to monitor this site regularly so hopefully you'll get an answer quickly. I suspect they are more likely to take it seriously through this site too as it is a public forum - they want to protect their image! Though you might not be able to wait the whole weekend for them to return on Monday if your things are spoiling :-( Do you have concierge (Good Guys extra insurance)? It covers you for $250 worth of groceries if your fridge or freezer breaks down (apparently - haven't had to use it before but hoping if I ever do it is straightforward). Good luck and let us know how it turns out, I'll be very interested!

Hi Steve
when we were purchasing it I remember we had to consider the same though we never removed them in the long run. Instead a neighbor quickly removed the door to the house n so we did the same when moving out. It's best to check with the store or ask this directly to the Sharp officer in this forum but ave always had a question with the black bar that separates the fridge n freezer foors otherwise I am impressed with the fridge to date almost hitting a year mark With no sign of a glitch.

Hi Steve,
No, we didn't have to remove handles or doors as it fitted through our standard 840mm door.
I'd suggest doing as recommended by Sharp Australia if it wont fit, that ay you won't lose out on any warranties...
We've had ours for a couple of months now and as per Anthony, ours t0o is running like a dream!

Is the noise still an issue? I have ordered one just last week before I got to read the reviews here? What might be the cause of the noise - is it because of poor cabinetry?

Hi Vivian,

Thank you for contacting us. Regarding your query, we have conducted further investigations and can confirm that there is no common fault for noise. However, noise levels are dramatically affected by installation variables such as surrounding cabinetry, room size and floor coverings.

If you are experiencing extraordinary noise issues or need any assistance in future, please feel free to contact us by phone on 1300 135 022, or email us at [email protected].

Noise is not an issue - its just that I do notice its 'working' noises when the house is quiet. However it is minor in my view. There needs a be a decent gap around the fridge to vent the heat it generates so even though built in cabinetry might buffer sound, it could prevent efficient air flow. Still happy with my purchase. Best wishes.

As for me I never had an issue with noise it's super quiet to this moment almost a year down n not even a single glitch', am loving it.

We are looking to purchase a new refrigerator and like the look of the Sharp Sharp SJF624STSL. We haven't seen one in the flesh as the local stores don't have one in stock.
I would like some information about the doors & seals that may help in our purchasing decision. Are the doors self closing or do they have to be forced closed? Do the doors have a centre post to seal against or does it rely on rubber to rubber contact? Do the crisper trays have metal runners or plastic wheels? Thank you in advance. Ernie.

We only had the refrigerator for almost two weeks before we returned it and opted for a Westinghouse brand. As far as I can remember there was no issue in doors closing but there was no post between the two doors and as you mentioned relies more on rubber contact. All the trays are made of plastic. Hope this helps.

I got a refund on mine too as it was faulty. Sharp after service care was disgusting. I will never buy a sharp product again.

Hi ErnieB,

Thank you for your question. In regards to your query the Refrigerator doors are not self-closing, however Sharp uses a unique opening mechanism eliminating any friction between the doors, it is also tight rubber sealed to keep cool temperature within the refrigerator.
Sharp French Door models are all partition-less allowing practical access when storing larger items.
The crisper drawers have a plastic runner track making opening and closing easy.

I am thinking of purchasing the Sharp SJF624STSL fridge. We have a space with 7200mm height. Will this be OK to fit the fridge or will it void the warranty?

People who had problems with the noise, have the problems related to noise been resolved to your satisfaction?

Thanks for any information that you can provide.

I believe 7200mm is a typo. Anyway, the height of the fridge is 1700mm and minimum 90mm headroom is mentioned in the operation manual. Beware that 60mm or more space is required on both sides as well. The manual also says " Insufficient spacing will decrease cooling efficiency and increase energy consumption. This may reduce the life of the unit and void warranty." Hope it helps.
For my case that a technician attended to my fridge last Thursday and fixed the vibration noise (which happens occasionally), he need to write a report to Sharp for the high pitched noise. I email Sharp last Friday and today to ask for the next action but still haven't heard from them yet.

Sharp
Sharp A.Sharp

Hi fridgebuyer,

Thank you for your question. As Ivan mentioned, the space required advised in our current operation manual is to leave a minimum of 90mm on top, 60mm on the sides and 60mm at the back. If the space you have available is lower than these mentioned above the refrigerator will work less efficiently, increasing the energy consumption due to the reduced flow of air surrounding the refrigerator.
All of the Instructions, menus guides / tables and procedures are provided within the operation manual.

I think the height issue has been addressed but as far as noise goes - it's whisper quiet and we've not even noticed it's on in the middle of the night.

Hi,
I confirm that the fridge is very quiet and I have now had it for three months come tomorrow morning and still loving it, one thing that I came to notice after sometime is that the fridge does not get finger prints, this I realized last week as we have never had to deal with the kids multiple finger prints.

I am thinking about buying this fridge (looks like I just missed out on the promotion:-( ) I am a bit concerned, the available width I have is 950mm, which only leaves 30mm on each side. (the height is fine - 1850mm) All the salesmen tell me that this is nothing to worry about, but according to your manual I downloaded, seems I should worry about it - in fact it mentions that it may void the warranty. So, I won't be buying it, unless you can reassure me.
While I'm asking questions, could you please tell me the difference between Ag+ Nano & Honeycomb?

Hi csutak40,

The Ag+ Nano & Honeycomb works the same way to reduce odour and prevent mould growth. However, the Ag+ Nano also prevents the spread of some types of bacteria including E-Coli. Hope this helps and if you would still like to speak with us, please feel free to contact us.

Hi, I would like to know what the response is to csutak40's concern regarding the space to be left on either side of the fridge because I also have the same issue. Please let me know if it will void the warranty if i proceed with my purchase and the gap left on either side is less than the recommended 60mm that is printed in the manual.

Hello Sharp,

Did you manage to resolve the issue for Moschi1?

When were these fridges introduced onto the Australian market? We are looking at purchasing the SJF624STSL from Masters, but we are concerned that this is a new model, and that there aren't enough reviews yet. The other option for us is to purchase the Bosch 678L.

Are there any deals or offers from Sharp at the moment?

Thank you.

1 answer
Sharp
Sharp A.Sharp

Hi Aaron,

Thank you for your query. Yes, Moschi1 received their replacement refrigerator. This particular model is still relatively new here, released into the Australian market in December 2013, so that may be contributing to the low volume of reviews currently published.

We currently have an active refrigerator promotion until the 31st of August for a bonus 9pc RACO Cookware set via redemption - a postage and handling fee still applies. You can find more information about this particular promotion here - http://www.sharp.net.au/promotion/REF/masterthekitchen2014/

Hope this helps you with making your decision.
