I have an SJF624STSL which has died suddenly - it is stocked with about $400 of food, which I cannot afford to replace (on disability support pension after a house fire & had multiple amputations) I still have the proof of purchase documents - including an extended warranty which is still in effect (within the said time).
Is there any likely cause or specific detail I should look for to see what has caused it to completely die?

Purchased this fridge 2 years ago in Jan 2015 from Harvey Norman and we are enjoying our first experience with a French door fridge/freezer. Love the wide shelves and accessibility of the space in both section - fridge and freezer. Performance has been most satisfactory but we are concerned about a couple of annoyances. First is the loud noise made by the motor when it runs which is most disturbing to those of us who have good hearing. Second, and most baffling is that in the last few months it has started making some loud popping or bang at random times. It seems to come from the freezer and is only one pop or bang each time. It sounds like a shot from a small bore rifle/gun.
Has anyone else had this problem? Should we be worried about it? Does anyone know what causes this noise?
Any ideas or help would be appreciated

We had to take all of the 4 doors off to get it into the fridge space in our kitchen - easy to do but it took my husband a couple of hours!!

Hi,
We bought the SJF624STSL (624L, Stainless Steel) about a month ago. The freezer was great but the fridge was almost luke warm even at 6. Harvey Norman replaced it and the new one is better but we have now upped the fridge to 5 as everything is just barely cold. You ahve to add ice to every drink. The freezer again works great at -18. We are getting concerned because things are spoiling quicker because they are just not cold. Any help would be great?

Hi Kelly,
Our fridge goes down to around 3 or 4 in the fridge compartment, have you checked the control buttons on front to see if it can be lower, I bought my own fridge thermometer to check if it was keeping what was recommended.
Maybe you should contact sharp direct and see if the fridge needs extra gas, I am really happy with myn all the drinks come out quite cold so it sounds like there is a problem.

Hi,

This sharp SJXE624FSL comes with the following dimensions.. 892 (W) * 1720 (H)* 771 (D)
My fridge space specs are as 900 (W) * 1800 (H)
My question is does the width which i have is sufficient to put in this fridge. Though it requires 892 MM width and mine is 900 MM width, does the fridge itself need any additional space on the sides for ventilation.

Please advise

We were all set to purchase this model but poor reviews of this model as well as the sharp sfje624slst have put me off. My current 15 year old LG fridge makes no noise at all and has never broken down - might just hang on to it longer than risk going backwards . Why would sharp and it's service agents insist that the noise as reported by the disgruntled customer be acceptable?

I bought a sharp 624l French fridge 2 weeks ago and I find it great, the noise to me is quite compared to our previous kelvinator frost free you could hear it all over the house.
No,problems so far love the lighting and spaciousness in fridge itself . We have a temp controll we put inside ourselves and so far the temp has been spot on no complaints at present so hopefully it will go well.

Hi, I recently purchased a brand new Sharp SJF624STSL refrigerator from Goodguys. The noise level is EXTREMELY LOUD compare to my old Samsung refrigerator. I have sufficient clearance for top and sides as per the manual. However, when the compressor is running it is making a repetitive annoying noise for 30 mins comprising of loud and quite and loud again and so on.Please take a look at these videos I have recorded.

1) from front surface
https://youtu.be/ZVq4-gRmwtY

2) direct from the compressor
https://youtu.be/LjpM5Mr5IWY

Is this what everyone who lodged a noise complaint experienced? Or Is this considered normal? Looking forward to hear back everyone's response. Thank you!

Our Sharp is very quiet so much so, we don't notice it. I would therefore think that the noise you are describing is not normal. You could contact your state consumer affairs organisation for advice about your rights with respect to new products first. Then you should contact Good Guys first and if there is no satisfactory remedy, contact Sharp Customer Services.

I am planning to buy this fridge in couple of days. Just wandering this has any child lock ?

4 answers
Mum2B

Hi Jitto. No there is no child lock on it, but it wouldn't be difficult to put one on.

Walton
Walton

My answer is the same as Mum2B.
The pole door bars would make it easy to install a plastic covered chain or something like that with a lock for each of the freezer and fridge. If you have a child with a food desire disorder, you could contact Sharp customer service to learn whether the pole handles would withstand a determined child assault.
On the other hand, if you are thinking whether a child could shut themselves in the fridge, I can't see that easily happening. Too many drawers etc but there is nothing to stop a child opening the freezer doors. It would require a heafty pull on the doors to open them though. Again, the freezer has many plastic compartments that would need to be removed first before a small child could use the freezer to hide.
If a child did this though, I would imagine the doors could be opened from the inside because the door seal and shutting mechanism looks to be a magnetic door strip.
Hope this answer helps
Graham

Hello! Can anyone tell me what there settings are on fridge and freezer that they think is doing the job well?
I am sick of trying different settings, I just want to see what the most popular ones are. I know it depends on your climate and such but just for a general idea.

Our fridge is set for 3 degrees and the freezer is -18 (minus 18) Celsius. The fridge can be set at 4 degrees but no higher.
These temps are recommended by the US food and drug administration agency. Fridge temps are very important for health and safety reasons more than anything else. I wouldn't recommend ignoring official scientific based advice in that regard.
We live in Northern NSW.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Thank you for that, mine was set on 6 and -21 hopefully now things should stop freezing in the fridge and not feeling quite up to scratch in the freezer.

Our fridge is on 5 deg and freezer -18.
