Quality All Around
One of the biggest things which stood out to me during my build with Stannard Homes occurred one afternoon where I was visiting the site just after the brickwork had begun. I noticed an older gentleman come onto the block and started looking around which struck me as a bit unusual. So we got to chatting and I found out it was none other than the founder Peter Stannard himself!

s remarked on how professional the tradespeople working on the house were when I had a look around during the weekends. For extra peace-of-mind, I enlisted the services of an independent building inspector at each stage of the build and all issues identified were very minor in nature and quickly rectified. Lee and Fiona were great in the pre-start and construction process and we are extremely happy with the end result. I would have no hesitation building with Stannard Homes again.Similar opinion? Awesome new house!
We have just picked up the keys to our new Stannard Home and we can't be happier with the finished product! Right from the beginning the support from Dean and Annette has been fantastic in the design phase and throughout the build. Lee and Fiona in the office have been a massive help in selections and the entire construction process, always there to help and point us in the right direction to make sure everything in the house was on track! Every step of the way was made easy by the team that work here and it made building our first house a fun experience!

Quality at a fair price
Building our second home with the Stannard Group and could not fault the service. Quality of workmanship far exceeds the industry average.
The design team are very experienced, more so than other companies and are able to walk you through council, structural and siteworks issues from the outset to ensure there are no hidden surprises.
Given it is a family company you get to meet the whole team and can see why they have been around for so long, there is no cost-cutting or short cuts taken and while you don't get the cheapest build you get a high-quality product for a fair price. So far our build is 2 months ahead of schedule.

Non-existence After Sales Service
We built our home with Peter Stannard 6 years ago.
The initial sales process was wonderful. We were handled by a first class salesperson and proceeded to build when we were not in the country. We only returned to see the project once and to collect keys.
After the key collection and final payment, all smiles and service disappeared. We found leaking tap, cracked walls and ceiling. They finally sent someone to repair the cracks after many calls. By the time they responded, we already fixed the tap at our own costs.

few months, we are starting to notice cracks along the walls again, both internal and external. We sent Peter Stannard photos and called them. However, their respond was that they are not responsible for the cracks and they are not willing to even come and have inspect the problems. We will be seeking legal advise as I think this is wrong. Great experience & brilliant home
In the past 11 years this is actually the 3rd home we have just had completed by Peter Stannard Homes. We have built 3 homes that are non standard design... we have had blocks that require specifically designed homes which was handled by their staff to suit our needs and budget. The building process and ongoing staff support was very good and required very little interference or our involvement by us, which is always ideal due to our busy lives. All homes had small minor issues rectified without a fuss in a timely manner. All homes built on time, on budget and to a very high standard. We are hoping to build another investment property sometime in the near future and will be contacting Stannard Group once again.

Good end result
Sales team were great but it took a lot of time and effort to finally get the design and elevation we wanted.
Pre start handled well but service all went pear shaped from then.
Office staff have no manners
Building supervisor not interested
Had to fight to have things done properly especially carpentry.
However Some trades were good ( bricklayers renderers and tiler)
Scaffold team was very rough and damaged gutters roof tiles and render when removing scaffold.

Currently building with Peter Stannard
We are in the process of building with Peter Stannard and are very happy. They have taken a lot of time and personal attention to get things right. They have not economised on anything and the quality and attention to detail is excellent. We have required a great deal of site works being on a hill and Peter Stannard has attended the block several times to ensure that the best solutions are found. e 4 month inspection soon but cannot find anything we want to report as we are delighted. Overall it was a very easy process, we had [Name removed] personally onsite to sort out site issues before building as we built on a our hill (our fault not theirs), we had a site manager change during and the occasional issue but all were resolved very well and always fairly, and the warmth of the staff there made it a real pleasure building with them. I realise most reviews are only written when people are upset and for hundreds of happy customers it only takes one upset one to cast doubt but I thought I should take the time to update that from our experience with this builder, I found them to be nothing less than excellent and I would highly recommend them to anyone.Similar opinion? We would NEVER buy a home from Peter Stannard homes EVER AGAIN. We had our practical inspection back in May 2006 We found them to be RUDE and ARROGANT when dealing with problems in the home, once you complain they treat you like a leper BE WARNED! Some of their work we found not to comply with the Australian Standards, the sad thing is the company DOESN’T EVEN CARE. t to turn off the main power to fit lights up for me in my lounge and as all electricians do, he tested it with a small tool before commencing work, it was still alive!, they had to come out and rewire the box. Their plumbing company they use, Azmac tried to cut corners by not installing Tempering Valves which are a safety requirement on both of the bathrooms. They had to rip off wall tiles to install one to the main bathrooms hot water, because they had only used one pipe between the wall to share with the bathroom and laundry. I wanted to mop my floors in really hot water and wash greasy work clothes and needed access to hot water in the laundry, but I didn’t want my mum or children getting scalded, so my wall tiles look patched up! The plumbers also installed an undersized gas pipe in the roof, when we flushed the toilet the water came out hotter, when my son was sitting in the bath, he shouted out mummy the water is getting hotter!, so it was dangerous to use the toilet and shower at the same time, so they had to come out and open part of the colourbond roof and replace it with a larger pipe, otherwise my hot water system wouldn’t work properly. Now for the tiling…..When we had hand over with the site supervisor [name censored], we tested the main bathroom shower and the water ran straight out to both doors heading for the hallway and my mothers bedroom, the water didn’t even head to the main water waste drain!, when I pointed this problem out as he pretended he didn’t see it, the building supervisor stated “why don’t you just move your mum down the hall to another bedroom to save all the problems”. After continual pleading with them to rectify the problem, then they came up with “they were trying to create two water wastes within the same bathroom”, this was silly as the floor waste just ran out to the sand, but they thought that I didn’t know better, they then said “it was because the tiles we used were too big”, but this was taken from the size selection they allowed us! In the end, I phoned up fair trading and they advised and recommended me to contact [name censored] from Tilespec Tiling Consultants, this is an independent tiling inspector/assessor, when the builders were presented with this independent report they refused to acknowledge it, [name censored] said “what report” eventually they said they “were not going to read it”, that “it was just someone’s opinion”, they said I was “going from one extreme to another on another” on another occasion they said that “the tiling report was just someone else’s interpretation of the Australian Standards” When asked if their tillers tile to the Australian Standards, we got told by their site supervisor [name censored] that their tillers tile to the “best of their ability”. Because my mother is over 70 years of age and I was concerned over the risk of her slipping on wet floor tiles I had to continue to fight for them to see reason, not to mention my home would have filled with water as it poured out from the doors, they just couldn’t care less, it took me almost a whole year to fight them through the Building Disputes tribunal, in the end we won and was awarded a payout of $3,605.00. I felt intimidated throughout it all, they said to me “to save yourself unnecessary stress don’t bother with going to the BDT”, imagine all the money they save off of vulnerable people who haven’t the strength to fight for what it right. Fantastic.
The final product is brilliant and great value. Couldn't be happier. We see some much dodgy workmanship on other houses and just thank our lucky stars we havent had any of these problems. Each tradie has commented on the work of the previous one.
Would most definitely recommend them.
The only downside is the communication. You get the sense that things are going a million miles an hour in the background but no one is talking to you!
I understand that the Construction Coordinator (CC) is there to screen calls for the Site Supervisor. Fair enough. Why then does the receptionist screen calls for the CC. Not once have I rang and been able to get straight through.

Corrections to plans came back incorrect and the turn around
took approximately 2 months each time, which dragged on and on.
Walked away from them losing eight grand.
We did not receive the full finished working drawings we paid for or the survey of our block.
Friendly sales staff.
Not a builder we would recommend for one off designs. Impossible with communications [arrogant] with head office.

It's a shame this had to go the way it did. The building design was great.
The price was ok.
Unfortunately, the builder wasn't interested in resolving anything but the easiest of faults.

Excellent
The overall process of building a home is a highly emotional time for any couple and was made easier by the friendly and helpful staff at Ultimate/Peter Stannard Homes. Although the process was not perfect (due to misunderstandings on both parts) I believe that the company rectified all issues in a ethical and professional manner. The Staff are great and so are the tradespeople. The Progress of the home was quick and efficient and the end product was fantastic. Having the home now for some 6 months we could not be happier the end product is brilliant even thought the journey may not always be without bumps the destination is well worth the journey. Hope this helps.
