A long lost friend lost forever
I think I was raised on earl grey tea. While I have tried others over the years, they proved inadequate by comparison and I invariably returned to my old friend earl grey. Now my friend has gone and the world seems difficult since the passing.

Not good Twinings- EGT gone to 'pot'
I thought, ok, new labels & not stating Earl grey - & they are brown. Tastes like the scrapping from a dirty floor. I am so disappointed, I think Twinings needs to review - Box says Quality Guarantee, will be calling Distributor - Tel: 1800 092 889 (Aust.)

Change of flavour
After years of drinking Twinning Earl Grey Tea I have decided to cease. I was hoping that the flavour would revert to the old wonderful taste, whats happened? Luckily I have discovered Aldis Diplomat EGT it's very flavoured and delicious

My favourite tea has changed - I'm so disappointed.
On opening a new box of EGT, I noticed that the tags are no longer yellow. The new brown tags immediately made me suspicious. I brewed a cup & its no longer 'light strength' or 'aromatic'. I don't like it at all.
After doing some research, I found out that its not made in China anymore, instead it comes from Poland. I took my 'back up' stocks to Woolies for a refund & they were happy to help.
Meanwhile, I am annoyed at Twinings for selling a different product under the old label. Make sure you check the country of origin on the box before you buy this 'ring-in' tea.

Twinnings earl grey tea has changed disappointing
I used to love this tea earl grey twinnings tea and no earl grey brand came close. Now it tastes like plain tea. Very disappointing after drinking it for 35 years. You have changed the composition and thought we wouldnt notice?

Changes to Earl and Lady Grey tea
The current Earl Grey tea being sold in Melbourne is nothing like the original. The tag labels are brown and it tastes just like any ordinary black tea. Lady Grey now tastes the same, they are indistinguishable. Horrible. I have switched brands.

Tasteless Earl Grey teabags
I used to love Twinings Earl Grey teabags but Im very disappointed to discover my new teabags have no flavour at all!
I will be returning my new box of teabags to Coles with or without a refund as I may as well drink hot water. What a shame Twinings!

Same problem for Lady Grey
I agree with all other posts. I drink both Earl Grey and Lady Grey and the flavour of both have both changed After my first sip I looked at the brown tag and thought I had brewed the wrong tea, then I checked the box. Perhaps Woolworths are now aware of the problem hence all the half price specials. I'm switching to loose leaf French Earl Grey from T2 until the problem is resolved. Recommend it if you are looking for a fragrant blend of tea.

Twinings Earl Grey Tea - what have they done to it???
I have been drinking Twinings Earl Grey tea exclusively for over 40 years and my latest purchase shocked me - new brown tags and disgusting flavour. Why would they change something wonderful after all this time? I can't imagine the hotels, cafes and restaurants who serve it will be happy either as NO ONE will like it. Look out for "PN" next to the use by date - it means processed in Poland. The older boxes have "CN" on them which means from China. I am particularly angry as there was no change in packaging so everyone thinks they are buying the same product. Well, I guarantee that if people buy this once by mistake they will never purchase Twinings Earl Grey again. Goodbye Twinings.

Twinings Earl Gray FAIL - new taste to match the new brown tag
Zero stars from me.
Yes, it tastes completely different as well as their new ease of use feature: the tags automatically fall off and allow the string to fall gracefully into hot brew. I guess that's intended to help us plebs sort the paper tag into the paper bin and the tea bag into the other bin. Thanks Twinings.
The only explanation, of course, is that Twinings are buying in the tea from some third world country, grown with rank water supplies (hence the slightly bitter taste), just to save themselves a couple of dollars per tonne.
How fitting that they have chosen brown for their tag colour.
And, of course, no staple in the tag to keep the string attached, so that's another saving of, let's see... 0.0002 cents.

Why did Twinings change a great tea
I have been a loyal Twinings Earl Grey tea drinker for over 25 years, during that time I have never drank another brand of Earl Grey or other tea brand. Noticed that the tags on the tea bags had changed to brown and the flavour of the brewed tea had also changed. Not happy with Twinings the change seems to have coincided with the change in manufacturing locations from China to Poland, cant understand why they would change the blend of such great tea. Come on Twinings please bring back the old Earl Grey.

Twinings Earl Grey Has Gone Bad!
Like everyone else, recently purchased a 100 box of Twinings Earl Grey teabags and instantly noticed the change in taste - certainly not what I expected in purchasing the product. The changed taste is not pleasant and I have looked for other alternatives, so disappointed in Twinings for not rectifying the problem. I will not be purchasing again.

Flavour changed - tastes nothing like earl grey
I purchased 100 bags about a month ago, and found the brown labels instead of yellow. The tea did not taste like earl grey at all, none of that citrus bergamot flavour. I emailed Twinings, thinking it was a production issue. They sent me two new boxes. I opened one last night and it was the same bad tea. Then I discovered this website, and realised it is a systemic issue. Please fix it Twinings.

What is this rubbish?
I have been a loyal Twinings Earl Grey fan for years. Not any more. The new brown tag bags taste atrocious. Why did they change a good thing? I will be looking for alternative brands thats for sure. Disappointing :(

Twinings Earl Grey? Seriously, they don't have any form of quality control process?
Bought from Woolworths on the 30/09/19. Clearly not Earl Grey. Undrinkable rubbish would be a more accurate description! Why Twinings wouldn't remove this dross from shelves is beyond me. Instead they cynically continue to sell it, which really illustrates the contempt they have for their loyal customers.
I certainly will never purchase the Twinings brand again. I will have to go a see what brand of Earl Grey Aldi stocks.

Earl Grey NOT
Surely this is some kind of consumer fraud? Same box on the outside and completely different tea on the inside. Have opened all three boxes and found the same undrinkable tea. I frankly want a refund. Thirty years a loyal twinnings customer, not ever again.

Unpleasant Twinings Earl Grey teabags purchased in September 2022
Purchased several boxes of Twinings Earl Grey from Woolworths recently and noticed a) the bags had a brown label and b) the tea had a very strong black tea flavour but not the usual Earl Grey-ness of bergamot/citrus flavouring. The second box was also a disappointment. Phoned the importer (AB Food & Beverages) who advised they are aware of the issue and said that the tea came from a different supplier. Suggested that I should look for boxes with a 'CN' code next to the best before date. I had one box left with a 'CN' code and I opened it. YAY - yellow labels on the teabags again. PHEW.

Hi to those who have experienced the "change with Earl Grey", as per my post a month ago. PLEASED to report, I had very good response when I rang the number on their box (free call to Melbourne I think). Apparently there were issue with particular batches, and the young woman on the other end, took my details, and I received a note and a Woolworth voucher as an apology and recompense. I have since gone back to Twinings Earl Grey - and ALL is good. :)

As you can see from many reviews, there are some very unhappy loyal Twinings customers. It would be good to have some response & seriously consideration of a random Quality review & a possible Recall. I will call Distributors & try be able to return product to Coles.

Returned to Woolworths and refunded. Aldi do a Diplomat Brand Earl Grey really good
Thks, unfortunately no Aldi where I live, will try some other brands. Was told to try Numi.
I wrote a complaint to Twinings already & their response was poor.
