Family Q

Hi we are looking to purchase a bbq similar to the Weber q range but have natural gas connection, every retail outlet is saying you can convert a Q to natural, is this correct? We are downsizing but don't want to use LPG. Any options?

Hi David, suggest you get advice from a qualified gas fitter only.
Good cooking, Janet.

Hi David, there are NG Family Q's available, as well as LPG. We also offer conversion services for people who want to swap between the two. If you'd like more info, please let us know.

Hi Speedy, unfortunately the regular Family Q's cannot be converted to the Built-in 3600 Q's. They are designed completely differently and aren't designed to be built in. Please let us know if you need any more information.

Can you buy a Weber family q without the stand?

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Sandra, if you do not want a stand, you have the option of either our Weber Q models (Q2000 or 2200) or you can look at our built-in option (Q3600) which comes with its own housing so it can be built into an outdoor kitchen area. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Family Q Standard (Q3100AU)

We changed the gas supply to our Weber from bottled to natural gas via a bayonet connection as we had removed our old gas water heater. The gas takes ages to light - sometimes 5-6 minutes. I keep the gas burners nice and clean and they still look okay. This doesn't seem right. Can you advise on what you think the problem might be and how to fix it?
Many thanks
Alex

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Alex, was this change done by yourself or was it through a Weber technician/gas fitter? It shouldn't take that long to light, so there may be a leak or issue with the connection. Can you call us on 1300 301 290 and we can go from there.

Hi Milko, are you talking about the bit of metal that goes across the hole in your cookbox? That is called a Wind Deflector, and it does exactly that :)

Hi Rob,

If the area you are intending to build in does not have adequate ventilation then yes it will require some type of range hood.
Best to give us a call on 1300 301 290 for all the specifics, as well as your chosen construction company who will be doing the fit out.

Cheers!

Family Q

I have just opened my Q3100 box. The first instruction was to put in 3 screws in the left cart leg. There were no screws. I also noted there was no clip for the axle. I don’t know if there are more screws in addition to those that are pre installed in the cross brace for example. Please help me? I am very frustrated.

Have just bought a new family q 3100 with black lid. Why would the lid handle spacers melt on the first use? My previous bbq was another family q with beige lid that never had this problem.

Never had the black lid and never had this issue either. I’d contact Weber immediately.

From what I can tell, the only major difference between the 3100 and 3200 is the thermometer... so I’d say that the burners should be interchangeable

I agree with the previous should be the same

Weber

Hi Jess, yes it will fit as the burners and cookbox don't change size from the 3100 to 3200. Hope that helps!

Family Q Q300

When I bought my Weber Q it was connected to my house gas. Worked really well. Having sold my house to build a new one I'm now in a rental for several months during the build process. Can I buy a connection for a gas bottle and fit it myself?

For Safety reasons I would recommend having it changed by a tradesman.

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Mike, thanks for your question. You can't chop and change between gas types with any of our barbecues- they are either suited to LPG or NG gas, and have to be fully converted by a licenced technician in most cases. You can purchase the parts from us directly.
To answer your question, no, there isn't a connection that you can just attach to your barbecue to make it suitable for gas bottles.

If you want any further information about the process, please call us on 1300 301 290 and we can walk you through it.

Hi Ed, you can purchase new grills from most Weber Specialist Dealers, or you can order them through Weber head office. Can I ask why you need to replace them? If there is damage to them and they're less than 5 years old, they could be covered by warranty. Best to check and call 1300 301 290 (head office)- have your serial number handy when you call. Thanks!

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Unless otherwise specified, it is recommended that you remove your hotplate (if you have one) and use a convection tray and a roasting trivet. To ensure that the bottom of your roast is not scorched by the hot grill bars.
The convection tray and trivet used together to transform your Q™ from cooking in barbecue mode to oven mode in seconds. The convection tray is engineered with vents designed to circulate the heat above, below and perfectly all around the food. The vents also allow the fats from the roast to drain away, falling between the grill bars.
The set-up is simple.
• Place a convection tray on the grill so the four locating tabs sit inside the covered areas of your cooking grill. The tray should now be positioned in the middle of your
Q™.
• Place the roasting trivet on the tray. You are now set up for roasting or baking.
When you are roasting or baking you must pre-heat the barbecue. The instructions for pre-heating the Q™ for roasting and baking can be found in your cooking booklet received with the bbq. All models have slightly different roast settings.

To pre-heat your Family Q™; Open the lid and place the convection tray and the trivet in position.
• Turn both control knobs to the START/HIGH position.
• Press the ignition button to light the barbecue.
• Allow the barbecue to run for 10 minutes with the lid closed. (On high)
• Now that your Family Q™ is pre-heated,
• Turn the small burner to low setting (for 20mins)
• Leave the large burner control knob on the high setting.
• You can now place your food inside the Family Q™.
