Another Great Westinghouse Fridge

published

My second westinghouse fridge my first one lasted over 20 years, decided to get a new one as we need a larger one and after getting a new kitchen I wanted a stainless steel one. Very quiet fridge, keeping the stainless steel door clean is hard work my lot open the door by the handle but close it by putting their hands on the door.

March 17th 2017 Update: Another Great Westinghouse Fridge

This is my second Westinghouse Fridge/freezer the last one lasted over 20 years, it was still working when I purchased this one, I just wanted a bigger fridge. Very Quiet, sometimes it is so quiet that don't know that is it running. Lights in the fridge are great . The delivery guys set up for me and I haven't needed to adjust the temperature.

Beautiful Fridge

published

Beautiful fridge purchased from Harvey Norman very quiet and spacious. Looks very sturdy. Just wish the ice cube tray was a bit bigger and there's no meat tray. Bought on boxing day sale the fridge wasn't discounted so I had to haggle price from $1588 down to $1400 plus a $150 cash back from Westinghouse. Then $50 for delivery which brings price to $1300 incl delivery. Really annoyed me when I saw the price the following week at the good guys for $1250 plus get a $100 pay less card grrrr.

Westinghouse are not what they used to be

published

Purchased this model 5 weeks ago, having had owned 2 Westinghouse fridges before, I was confident in my purchase.

The truth however is that this fridge is incredibly noisy. Another issue is that the doors do not 'self close' even with the fridge inclined to the correct position.

Westinghouse customers service is non-existant, with two emails to the customer care division unanswered.

Given the similar reviews on here, perhaps Westinghouse is a brand best avoided.

Update: a technician from Westinghouse attended and told me the noise was within expected levels. I would recommend avoiding this model.

We have now had this fridge for two years. The compressor noise has abated to within tolerable levels. Love the fridge in all other regards. Would now give it a much higher rating than originally.

Except for the crisper, and lack of wine rack, though early days very good otherwise

published

The crisper drawer is useless, jams, falls out easily and then awkward to replace, an absolute pain - perhaps the drawer is too narrow or rails too wide.
Have sent complaint to W'House reply will be interesting.
Otherwise it quiet, roomy well designed, the freezer compartment works well especially the drawers and rails.
The SS model comes with a wine rack ($30 otherwise).

Hi there, my Westinghouse WBE5314SA handles have fallen off and apart from the handle inserts all breaking and not being able to get replacements, a couple of the little black lugs which are attached to the inside of the fridge doors have snapped. I’ve been told to replace handles which will cost approx $180 even though the only thing wrong with handles is the broken inserts but you can’t replace the broken black lugs without having to purchase new doors.! I’m livid. Other fridge makers sell the door handle inserts but none would fit our handles. Very upsetting. Thought of trying to remove door skin and put a screw and washer on the inside of door but not sure how door skin is attached, whether attached with screws or glued. Worried about cracking door skin if glued. Also the fridge cyclic defrost isn’t working and I’ve been told needs a new logic board, fridge coilsare freezing up and defrost timer not working.

Hi all,
We have a Westinghouse fridge freezer Model WABE5314SA.
Just of late it has started to beep even when all the doors are closed, just
wondering if anyone may know as to what the cause of this beeping may be?
Many thanks,
Andy

How do I remove freezer drawers. Details not clear enough in manual

Open the door fully. Lift the drawer by initially supporting and lifting up from the front corners with your hands underneath, then, holding the drawer by its sides at the top, simply lift up. The runners can be easily seen as extending ones. Pull them carefully in and out to see how they work: this should help with understanding how to remove and replace.
When replacing make sure the runners are fully out, and set the drawer down over the runners with the front end of the runners positioned as close to the front of the drawer as possible. Gently let the drawer settle onto the runners and press gently; there should be a slight click as they settle into place. Don't be heavy-handed with any pressing down. It's actually quite quick and easy once you're used to it.

Thanks for the info will try again don’t like to use any force but the runners are still very stiff.
