Don't buy Westinghouse
So back in 2014 when our fridge died, we bought this fridge thinking It would be a good reliable fridge, it lasted just under a whole year before It completely died, leading up to this, temperature fluctuations were the normal, and I am talking 8 degrees and up, and the best the white goods mechanic they sent out could come up with was out fridge was set out wrong, not wanting to address the real problem which was the fact that the fridge was faulty, it died completely within 2 weeks, inconveniencing my partner and myself by spoiling everything...Read more
. So a replacement was organized immediately, and that has gone okay for just under 4 years and now it has trouble keeping at around 4 to 5 degrees and that is on max, we have contacted Electrolux and they have said that since it was nearly 4 years old, it was going to cost us 159 dollars just for someone to come look at it PLUS PARTS. What a ripoff, they are not even willing to stand by their product for not even 4 years.... a fridge should last longer than that! Especially coming from a 'trusted' brand! rubbish product and rubbish customer care(no care) will be taking my money elsewhere from now on. BEWARE!!Purchased in June 2021 at The Good Guys for $970.00.

Cooling control back to front - dont buy Westinghouse
We recently discovered after many months of expensive food waste, inadequate cooling and the expensive cost of an unnecessary and service call that the reason our fridge wasnt cooling properly and that we were wasting so much food was that the temperature control is back to front. One would think that getting the temperature control correct on a fridge is a fairly important and basic aspect of refrigeration. Would think twice ever buying this Brand again
Purchased in June 2021.

Great Fridge
We have had this fridge since new and in 7 years it has not given us any problem not even a blown light bulb
it seems to be sturdily made
the crisper draw cannot be fully opened with door only at 90 degrees would be our only complaint but it situated in an alcove with a side wall

Fridge and freezer wont cool.
4 yrs old and wont cool. Compressor runs, fan works, condenser gets slightly cool but wont get cold. Replaced control unit with no change. The important spare parts cannot be found listed under this model number and I suspect its discontinued because Westinghouse (aka Electrolux) know it's faulty and dont want to support it. Very disapointing for an expensive fridge from two big brand names, Westinghouse and Electrolux.

Only 5 years old. Fridge doesn’t cool
This fridge is only 5 years old and the fridge section has just stopped cooling. Freezer is fine. Totally unacceptable for an expensive product to not last. Could not recommend this brand. My daughter’s Samsung is 15 years and still going strong. I am very disappointed in this product. Will try and fix but by the sounds of it this is an inherent fault.

Fridge part stopped working
I have had the fridge for 4 years and have kept it like a new fridge and not overloading it .Got up in the middle of an extreme heat wave to find my cold water was not cold at all, in actual fact it was warm as was my milk which had turned to big blobs of sour milk. I dont have the money to buy another fridge as I am a pensioner living from week to week is there anything that can be done to help out in this matter. By the way the freezer works great. Regards Sharon

As of June 2016 all Westinghouse fridges now made in Thailand
It is still a good fridge 8 years later. Now buying a new fridge due to needing more vegetable space.
Long shelf on door broke and we paid for the replacement as it a much used shelf.
The icemaker tray broke but didn't replace due to price to replace it and lack of real need for it.
It is quiet and doesn't freeze up the vegetables like the Fisher Paykel one we had before.
Rusted a bit by the door handle, inside the door edge and at the top of the door - but we did live by the beach so I imagine this is pretty normal.
We were told these refrigertors are now made in Thailand and best not to buy one again.
No crack in the bottom of the fridge as mentioned by other reviewers.

Great roomy Australian made fridge
Have owned for a year and a half. I love my Westinghouse with freezer on the bottom, so much easier to use this way. I can find everything easy, has lots of room in door and big vegie bin. I did not find it noisy at all, at first you wonder what all the strange sounds are but it settles down after awhile, My vegies have been lasting longer so am happy. Has a great ice maker if you need it. Shelving can be adjusted and lots of room at the top too. This replaced a cheap Hellar which started playing up as soon as the one year warranty was out. I bought extra warranty with Westinghouse but don't think I will be needing it. I highly recommend this fridge and support a great Australian business.

Still going strong with no issues at all. Be interested in hearing from Westinghouse why this model has been discontinued and what is it's replacement. Still if you can get a new or second hand one still might be worth it.

fridge part stops working
I bought this fridge 3.5 years ago. In this period the fridge department stopped cooling twice, reading the other reviews it seems that it is not an uncommon problem. The first time it was still under warranty and was repairable. The second time they told me that they can not fix it and offered a similar model for $700. I paid over a $1000 to buy this fridge and to me it is not acceptable that the product is not usable after 3.5 years while it still looks brand new. Now I do not feel comfortable to invest another $700 in this brand if the same thing is going to happen.

Westinghouse fridge section not cooling.
This is the second time now that the fridge section has stopped cooling and my food is spoiled. A few months ago on the advice of the internet I thawed out the fridge for about 3 days and this fixed the problem. Now it has happened again I called Westinghouse this morning and was told that it would cost $145 just to send someone out to look at it. The lady who was supposed to call me back in two hours due to the system being down hasn't bothered to call me yet that was over 5 hours ago.
Sad that a fridge I payed so much for has stopped working just a little over 2 years. I was told this was Australian made and I wanted to support Australian made goods. Hoping to still get this resolved.

Can't recommend Westinghouse fridges.
At the beginning, we thought it was a decent fridge. But after less than a year, it stopped working overnight resulting in wasted food and chasing down Westinghouse customer service. The guy who serviced it, got it working again, but the temperature of the fridge is just not cold enough. Freezer is fine, but food gets wasted after less than 3 days. Very disappointed in quality. It's at mid level price-wise, so you would expect a decent quality. Guarantee is only 2 yrs, so it's just past. Not going to pay for service for an unreliable and now discontinued product. Better to buy LG, Fisher Paykel or Samsung.

Great Fridge, 6 years on and still great
I have had my WBM4300 fridge in three different locations (move for work) for the past 6-7 years and it is still great. At one place I shared with 2 others, and no problem. I bought a similar one (the 5100) for another property which I understood was even better for energy use, even though slightly bigger. I think that might be why the 4300 was discontinued, the later models improved. No matter - both great! Love these fridges. No problems and yes quiet too!

Great Fridge why is it now discontinued?
I am very glad I got this fridge, suits my kitchen perfectly. Fridge and freezer compartments maintain correct temperatures. Quiet do not hear any noise from motor. Shelves are glass and very easy to wipe clean. Size is perfect for 2 people it gives you plenty of room might be on the small side for a family. I have been using this fridge continuously for 12 months and not hesitate to recommend if it was still available. This was my first Westinghouse purchase and I am very happy with it.

They admit manufacturing fault BUT say I should pay.
I bought my Westinghouse fridge 3 years ago. A crack has suddenly appeared in the floor lining of my freezer. It is an obvious manufacturing fault confirmed by the service consultant from Electrolux. The Electrolux technician was consulted and I was offered a pro-rata deal. They consider it reasonable that even though I bought this fridge in good faith and paid near $1000 and received a fridge with MANUFACTURING FAULTS that I should pay $600 to have it replaced because they can not fix it. I emailed Customercare expressing my distress ( calml...Read more
y, nicely and clearly) regarding the pro-rata deal. They respond with " . Maybe it is what you used to clean it that caused it? The fridge will still work and by my calculations says the phone consultant $600 is a good deal" I use a damp cloth to clean. I don't want cracks for dirt build up. I say here they tried to blame me, underplay the problem and try to manipulate me with the suggestion that I should really pay more than $600. NEVER AGAIN ELECTROLUX. Disgusting treatment. FAULTY FLIMSY PRODUCT.3 comments

Not working after only 10 months.
The fridge shut down and because i was away all of the food in both fridge and freezer were mouldy. I called Electrolux 16th July. A serviceman came the next day. He had to order a part. Didn't fix the problem. Still waiting. Had to buy a cheap fridge cause the service people at electrolux don't seem to be able to do anything for us. Won't be buying another Westinghouse.

Very happy so far
I took delivery of this refrigerator yesterday, so I am not in a position yet to be commenting on its long-term performance. So far, however, I am delighted with the WBM4300. It replaced an eighteen-year-old 400-litre Kelvinator which, though still working, was becoming noisy and causing things to ice up in the non-freezer compartment. The new Westinghouse is just what I wanted: quiet-running, doors that open to the left, smart internal design. No issues with its cooling capacity, either. I especially like the bottom freezer section with its dr...Read more
awers that glide in and out so smoothly. It definitely holds more my previous freezer did. Frankly, I am surprised at the negative reviews here. Perhaps this website has become a forum for disappointed customers rather than for those (I would assume the majority) who are satisfied with their purchase. Anyway, I will come back in a year or two with an updated assessment.1 comment

e. I am so glad I chose a design with the freezer section at the bottom—much more convenient that way. Also worth mentioning is the significant decline in my quarterly power bill after this fridge was installed. This tells me it's more economical to run than the ageing Kelvinator I had previously. In conclusion, I have no regrets whatever about my choice of this Westinghouse model.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great Fridge. Quiet.
This is my first bottom mount fridge. I have the 430 litre left hand opening model.I noticed how quiet it is as I previously had a Fisher and Paykal which was very noisy. I have had it nearly a year now and find it great. It is easier to clean than most fridges. The knobs for adjustments are very easy to get to. The drawers in the freezer roll in and out very easily. I was surprised there was not more freezer space, but I do freeze a lot of things, including bread. The door spaces are the best I have ever had. It fits so much, it seems to have room for all my bottles and jars. I would definitely recommend it.

Stop looking and get one of these.
Really a great fridge - very large interior space, well thought-out and useful interior layout, highly adjustable, clear controls, not too many space-taking gadgets. The doors close themselves. The freezer drawers are great, very smooth rollers, and everything is accessible. In the main fridge, the single large crisper is wide enough to store celery, rhubarb, leeks, and other large produce. It's better than larger fridges in this respect, which tend to have two smaller crisper drawers side by side.
And it's very quiet. You can hear a hum if ...Read more
everything else is silent, but no more than other modern fridges. If yours is making a racket, that's a fault. Get it fixed. The door shelves are made from a very thick and strong plastic - a long way ahead of the competition on this score, and it was important point for me as the first thing that went on the old fridge were the door shelves. (Kelvinator and Electrolux have the same strong door shelves). The Electrolux version has a lower energy consumption, rollers for the crisper drawer, and door handles that stick out. But this is the better value, and has the cleaner lines and better interior space. Couldn't find any other comparable fridge to beat it for features or value. Very useful interior layout, strong door shelves, well-sized, smart looks, quiet, well made, best value on market, made in Australia.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
