Would NOT Recommend. Cannot even attend my online classes. Very laggy and dropped out 6 times during a 1H and 30 minute call. Optus has great value plans but no quality service. No point in having so much data but not being able to make use of it

Australia's No.1 Worst ISP
Every 30 to 60 seconds I get ping spikes of upwards of 2000 to Australian Servers and 50%+ Packetloss. They won't even send a technician out as I "Have Internet"

WORST SERVICE EVER
It is the worst company I have ever worked used. DON'T GO with them! and read fully this post.
- When I went there to get my mobile router. I waited for 1h30 just because they gave it to someone else.
- Had to call them 3 times to get the router activated because they never activated it properly.
- Once activated, I never had a proper reception, and I had to cancel the service.
- Once cancelled, they continued to bill me anyway.

Customer Service?!
Customer service is nonexistent here. Might as well be talking to a wall. The number of times I have requested something (E.g. Freeze phone plan while on holiday, change from prepaid to post paid, cancel phone insurance) and for every single request, they have some how failed to provide.

Tacked on a 24 month contract without me knowing.
I signed up to the NBN on a month to month contract. I moved out of house and had tried to schedule cancellation prior to moving but they could only do it instantly so I held off. After I'd moved it took me TWO months of trying to get through to customer support due to wait times and the line simply cutting out. After waiting an hour on hold today I finally got through and they tried to charge me a $400 cancellation fee, blackmailing me saying they had recordings of me agreeing to a 24 month contract. ne before I moved and what was said on the app. They couldn't show me the recordings or produce the contract I'd signed, some might say that's because they didn't exist. After 20 minutes of this they eventually found some "notes" on the contract saying it was month to month, then the line cut out. Dodgy, incompetent or both? Disappointing would not recommend to anyone
Due to COVID-19 Optus is worse than ever including every other service provider. I can’t even get started with a new SIM card very disappointing. and they won’t take your phone calls unless it’s urgent so I’m done with Optus I would not recommend this services to anyone.

I have Been Scammed
Optus are great at offering cheap plans with big data, one catch, do not expect to have a reliable connection, internet speed is down to the old dialup of 256kb a second. This has been a problem in the past and still exists today, no matter where I have lived there has always been a connection problem with internet speed. This is 2020, not 1998 but their speed is is as it was back then, even mobile broadband two years ago at $70 a month provided these speeds and when I called to complain Optus admitted it was slow but did not want to rectify it...Read more

Hotspot is not working
I tried 2 Optus SIM cards and hotspot did not work with any. Hotspot had no issues with same devices and my previous SIM card which was not Optus. I tried to find a solution about it with online technical assistance via messages, phone call and going to a store. None of them knew how to help me and they send me from one person to the other. Some of them it was obvious that they didn't care especially those at the store. I spend 7 hours trying to sort this out without success and then I cancelled my connection on the same say.

Value for money: yeah, could be better.
To deal with customer service is a nightmare. Wait times can be as long as 5-7hrs on the phone to get connected and then since you've waited that long, they disconnect from you.
Good luck trying to get Tech support.
Sales staff are rubbish, ask them a question about a phone or a pocket modem, they have no clue what functions of how it works... Makes me wonder how they sell devices and how many wrong information they have told people.

Too expensive, terrible customer service, impossible to get the claim number even and none of the stores will help. I am done with Optus for good. Their insurance is a fraud. Do not take it EVER.

So expensive and not fair!
I have mobile phone contract with them since September/2018, I can't wait until this September Is coming so I can leave them for ever.
They recharge my service with extra 1 GB for $10 If my data Is finished!!! (You can get 3 GB and unlimited calls & text feom another providers for $10 only)
I called them many times and they said that they can't stop the extra auto-recharge!!
Also, They always charge me late fees but I'm sure I've paid my bills on the due date!!!

Why is optus support so bad or impossible to contact them for support.
Internet down 28 Apr 2020. All lights on modem working as per normal. Tried the turn off and on. Still not working. Tried calling optus support, after 5 minutes of menu's, wait time over 1 hour we cannot help you today and phone hangs up. Tried calling again, and they said to download and use messaging app. Downloaded optus app. Tried to login on app on phone, app said there was a problem and to get thus fixed by logging a fault using the messaging app. So the app i cannot login into, is the app to use to log this fault.
This sums up the lousey service that optus provides.
Is the idea that we can limit problems by not letting people log a problem.
Provide a decent service optus.

Moved from prepaid to postpaid - only way to activate my e-sim card. The upshot is I paid twice for the same service. Optus won't refund duplicate. Says they can't. Unlawful

Beyond pathetic
As long as you dont need call them great. Calling them gets you nowhere and even ordering a new product is painfully. Totally hopless and poorly trained and paid offshore call centre. I don't bother calling now just straight away raise a TIO complaint for any issues.

To everyone thinking to get Optus as a service provider, I hope you NEVER need any help or experience any issues. Their customer service is simply TERRIBLE, a nightmare I would say.
Every time I contact them for an issue, they first transfer you a million times to useless departments that cannot even help you - why am I being transferred to the basic mobile department with a delivery question? Useless!!!! It seems like they have a million small departments where no one is allowed / independent enough to solve a full issue by themselves.

olutely useless service where you are hanging for 2 hours and talking to a thousand different people and not one can help you. Would not even recommend to my worst enemy. Optus - train your people better to solve issues independently and fast and PLEASE, make a small questionnaire at the beginning of the online chats with customer service to transfer us to the right department from the beginning!!!! Absolute nightmare and probably the worst purchase experience I've ever had - do not recommend
Ordered a new phone and sim card almost 5 weeks ago - never received them. Have called up numerous times to find out what's going on, only to be told they're busy so they will review my account and get back to me within 1-2 days. Understand delays right now but was not called back on any occasion.

Tired of contacting optus to get internet activated
I signed up with optus about more than a month ago. They have not send a techno yet. Keep on giving me Telstra technician dates which are no shows. Last one rescheduled by optus itself. 4 appointments in a row all no show. Now latest one again rescheduled due to heavy load.Optus has given me a dongle in the interim but it’s frustrating to contact optus to get the dongle recharged or get my internet working. I have raised a complaint with tio let’s see how it pans out. Frustrating at optus snails pace given we have to work from home with kids with no dal connection
