Archer Gas 700 Series

Hi we had our Archer gas heater model IS760 installed yesterday it looks beautiful and heats wonderfully but the noise the fan makes is very loud? One of the reasons we replaced our previous heater was because of the loud fan . Whenwe observed our chosen heater at your showroom the heater was very pleasingly quiet, any ideas as to why it is so loud would love to have this rectified ASAP.

you probably need to adjust the position of your thermistor and check your gas pressure you might be able to change your conv fan to something different or smaller

Our Archer gas log fire as of yesterday has the fan running on full all the time even when not in use. The only way to stop it is to switch off at power point. I turned it back on this morning and fan starts up on full blowing out cold air We have never had any trouble b4 this.

i dont know how old your heater is but it sounds like you might need a 40-degree switch or thermistor

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately it took a long time(2 months) for you to reply and we had to get someone to have a look at it before then. The fan needed a bit of adjusting. I gather they are excellent heaters but when something goes wrong the supplier doesnt want to know about it.

Heater not starting, any help?

Very occasionally my heater won't start from the remote control....the burner box fan starts, but the igniter (and gas) doesn't happen. I just turn off (with the remote) and start again, and there's no second 'misfire'....not sure why it does this, but I don't consider it an issue.

Hello Joseph sorry for the late reply but been ill in order to answer your question we will need a lot more information, what model is your heater, how old is it, what is the serial number, what flue configuration do you have, what do the lights doo on the front of the heater when switching it on, or you could just call Aurora and they can help you to get your heater going with your assistance, also do you have a remote and what type model is it, their contact phone numbers are 1300 388 953 or (03) 9795-8895 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Mon to Fri hope this has been of some help, look forward to your call best regards Turtledove...........P.S we will also need to know your location..............

I have moved into a new place and I would be very interested to know how much gas your heater uses?
I work full time, mostly at nights. Have been away also been away a few days over the last month- and have been very frugal with my usage and I seemed to have used a lot of gas.
Can anyone advise me of the average usage?
I have 45L gas bottles. Which is quite big!
I am wondering if it needs a service or just more gas hungry than I expected.
Thanks

Calculating gas consumption is difficult, eg: for domestic scheme gas, a gas meter records gas flow in cubic metres, but you are billed in 'units', which uses a quite different formula, based on how the gas provides its heating energy ! I would contact Archer and get their opinion about the practicality of using gas bottles long term.....perhaps think of your heater gas bottle consumption as being similar to BBQ gas bottle consumption ?

turtledove
turtledove

Hello Maystar in order to answer your question correctly we need to know your model and serial No of the heater, calculating gas consumption is not difficult, the heater will have a MegaJoule rating per hour for low, medium and high if you speak to them at Aurora they can tell you what this is, then what you need to know is that 1 kilogram of gas equals 50.4 Megajoules, so in a 45Kg bottle there will be 2268 Megajoules, once you know the appliance rating you can work it out from there, it would appear, Im, sorry that Mr. Gunrealty does not know what he is talking about, but I'm sure if you call Aurora they will be able to assist you with the information you are looking for, contact numbers are 1300 388 953 or (03) 9795-8895 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Mon to Fri, hope this has been of some help best regards from Technician Turtledove..............

Hi, just got a problem with front burner not coming on. Back burner no worries. Approx 3 years old on lpg. Will flash on front panel to indicate and Hsi lighting up but can’t get burner to ignite. Burners and log placement good. Maybe pressure switch related??

1 answer

Hello, Mike, it won't be pressure switch related, if it was you would not get either burner to light, more than likely it will be the coil on the gas valve, you can rotate the coils on the valve and see if that makes a difference if it doesn't, it will be more than likely be the circuit board on the gas valve, if you are not confident in carrying out this procedure I suggest you give Aurora climate systems a call they are the manufacturer of the Archer gas log fire's they will be able to assist you in the procedure or maybe put you in touch with a tech, you can also purchase any parts from them if required, there contact phone numbers are 1300 388 953 or (03) 9795-8895 hope this has been of some help to you best regards Turtle- Dove....

Hello, Russell, I need to know how you run your heater during the day and what does it say on the handset in the morning thermo on or thermo off you also have to make sure it is not in the program mode, the first thing you can try is to relearn the receiver to the handset and then cycle the temperature up and down to make sure they are communicating you do this by locating the receiver in the heater, then make sure the handset is in the off position and your burner switches are also off, now make sure the switch on the black receiver box is in the middle where it says the word remote and then with the with a pen or pin on the receiver push and hold the the button for 2 or 3 seconds where it says the word learn on the receiver and you should hear a sound or a series of beeps, then on the handset you need to turn it on and off and the receiver should at the first time make a series of beeps and then a single beep for on and a single beep for off if this is to difficult for you I suggest you give Aurora climate systems a call and they can guide you on this procedure over the phone and advise on the best way to operate your heater, they are the manufactuer of the Archer gas log fire's, their phone numbers are 1300 388 953 or (03) 9795-8895 hope this has been of some help best regards Turtle-Dove

We have purhased a home with a 700 series heater. A couple of quick questions. If using the remote on Thermo mode, do you have to have to have the economy button on red and both front and rear operator switches turned on? Occasionally, I can hear a beeping. What does this mean?
Jim Rudling

1 answer
Aurora
Aurora A.Aurora

Hello, Jim, you don't have to have the red button illuminated when in thermo mode on your remote, this way both burners will come on and go off according to temperature providing you have both operator switches turned on, if the red button on the heater is illuminated and both switches are on the front burner will remain on and the back burner only will turn off and on according to temperature in the thermo mode, in this method of operation it stops the big swings in temperature when the heater is coming fully on and of, but just remember that while the red button is lit up the front burner will remain on regardless what it says on the remote, if your receiver in the heater is beeping occasionally it may be getting too hot or the signal is being lost, you can try putting the receiver out side the heater and see if that helps or purchase a receiver shield from Aurora and that may stop it from occurring, you should also get your gas pressure checked to make sure it is not set to high, also with out knowing how old your heater is it may just need a good clean, or if you like you can give us a phone call and we can guide you over the phone on what to look for and what proceedure to action, or we can send you out a copy of our operating instructions, our contact numbers are 1300 388 953 or (03) 9795-8895 hope this has been of some help to you, look forward to your call best regards from tech support at Aurora climate systems the manufacturer of the Archer gas log.

Hello Allan if your remote is not communicating with your heater you may just need to do a relearn with the receiver we can send you the instructions on how to do this or we can guide you over the phone it is a relatively simple procedure, in regards to your front burner not working we need to know whether your front igniter is coming on or is the front burner light flashing if not you may need to bypass your receiver or rotate your coils its probably best that you give us a phone call so we can guide you on what to look for because it is a bit hard to do online and we have many more questions for you still to be answered to help you, also if you would like we can give you a number of a tech in your area our contact phone numbers are 1300 388 953 or (03) 9795 8895 hope this has been of some help to you look forward to your call best regards from tech support at Aurora climate systems.

We have had an Archer IS700 gas log fire for about 10 years and it has operated well. However in the last year or so it has started to have intermittent problems starting up.
The problem appears to be related to the flue fan. Normally the flue fan light on the front panel comes on when the fire is switched on. However sometimes the light stays on for less than a second and the fire will not start. After repeated (up to 50) attempts to switch on, the light will finally stay on and the fire starts.
We got a serviceman to look at the fire. He opened the front and cleaned dust out with a vacuum cleaner, which helped for a while, but then the fault returned. Any thoughts on how to fix this problem?

Hello brianbron you may just have partial blockage in your flue and we may need to do a delayed pressure switch test or your pump container may just need a good clean, also we need to know the brand name and model number on your pressure switch,we can guide you through this procedure over the phone and should be able to rectify your issue rather simply or we can put you in touch with a trained tech if you like, so if you give us a call we can assist you either way our numbers are 1300 388 953 or (03)9795-8895 it is difficult to explain things via email, hope this has been of some help to you best regards from tech support at Aurora climate systems the manufacturer of the Archer gas log fire.

We contacted Aurora at the number given and they were very helpful in suggesting a number of possible reasons for our problem, and ways to check this ourselves. We found the reason was a spider web in our flue pipe, which was easily fixed with a vacuum cleaner. Fire is now back to normal. Excellent service from Aurora.

Archer Gas 700 Series

Hello, I have a Archer IS700/IS007 gas fireplace with remote control. The problem I have is that when the heater turns off it has a pumping/groaning (may not be the best description) sound. It pumps/groan every 1-2 seconds and continues to do so unless I switch it off at the mains. I had read once that the heater have dehumidifier and that this has something to do with it trying to pump moisture or something, but no moisture there so it just keeps pumping. It will go all day, even when the heater I s off, just going humph----humph----humph—humph—humph. Does anyone know if there is some sort of reset or do I need a technician to come out? Hate to get a guy out and it’s just a simple reset type fix.

Hi Warren if your your rear burner lights up for about 3 or 4 seconds and then goes out and about 30 seconds later tries again this means the control unit is not seeing the flame so it shuts of the gas to the burner it may just be that your rear burner flame censor may need to be cleaned this is a relatively simple task which we can guide you over the phone or if you have not had your heater cleaned or serviced we can give you a number of a technician in your area our numbers are 1300 388 953 or 9795 8895 we are based in Melbourne,we are Aurora Climate systems the manufacturer of the Archer gas log fire hope this has been of some assistance to you best regards from tech support at Aurora.

Is the surround on this heater optional? Would it look finished if you tiled up to the edge of the box?

1 answer

No, the surround is not optional, and
no, you cannot tile up against the heater, as at all times the heater needs to be removable, in case somebody needs to work at the flue fan, or sometimes one could get a blockage in the flue from insects
