Quality service and customer service
I'm really impressed with both the customer service, and the service, that Australia Online offers. I needed unlimited broadband at home in a regional town in Victoria about three years ago for my work and they were the only company that would offer that at a reasonable price in that location. I've since moved house twice and have stayed with the company as - even if they might cost more than some other company (and I don't actually know if there is anyone offering better prices than them) - I very much appreciate talking to real people who t...Read more
ake responsibility for solving issues rather than being put into long queues to talk to some (unhelpful) customer service person overseas. The Australia Online customer service guys speak clear, comprehensible English. They also explain IT jargon in simple terms if you're not familiar with the terms they are using. Best of all - they actually answer the questions that you ask, instead of misunderstanding, missing the point, or giving some "formula" reply that is unhelpful. When appropriate they'll also suggest other solutions or give extra information if they think it will help you with your situation. They go out of their way to make sure that things are working for you. Remember the days when businesses prided themselves on providing quality and service to the customers (rather than cutting corners to make more profit for the shareholders)? Well, that kind of responsible attitude is what I've encountered with Australia Online all the time I've been a customer with them. I've been using ADSL in various regional towns over the last 3 years. The phone quality for talking was lousy (really crackly) at one point so when I mentioned that Australia Online got Telstra to come and fix it as they checked the possibilities and it turned out to be an issue with the physical line going into the house. Then I had a problem with frequent dropouts - they suggested a fix for that which worked straight away, though they had had some other options to try if their first suggestion didn't work. So there can be problems with the service once in a while, but in my experience Australia Online will do their best to get things working for you as fast as possible.

Exemplary technical support
We've had a week from hell with the website being hacked and the emails blocked. Australia online have gone above and beyond to try and help us get back on track and allow the business to function. Thanks so much for your help and support. It's wonderful to speak to a technical support person who talks my language not IT language as well.

Unprofessional.
We tried to transfer to Aust.Online but were quite unsuccessful. I am really unimpressed by their lack of professionalism.
I called Ozonline to transfer my ISP from iiNet, after being with them for over 20 years. I spoke to [name removed], who was very friendly, courteous and helpful. He said that i would get a text & email confirmation of the transfer request, and that it could be anywhere between overnight to 5 business days to be transferred. All good. That was Friday 13th Jan.

't connect with ADSL2 because there were no ports available and they will connect as ADSL1 (that was expected). However, I thought that getting a text only was a bit odd, and I had not received any confirmation text and email. I was a bit unimpressed about that. I sent an email asking why I had not received the confirmation as promised and [name removed] replied saying that they will keep us updated with the status of our order. He totally missed responding to my question about the confirmation email. Then on Fri 20th Jan, I got a text saying they "cannot transfer our ADSL service as it is a 'SSS' service. We have cancelled your order and refunded you in full." What??!!? Just a text?! No explanation of what this means?! Do you know what a 'SSS' service is? I don't! And what's with the "sorry, we don't want you" attitude of this?! No alternatives offered? No suggestions? Just a curt, cryptic text?! This is so unprofessional! I had expected to have received a confirmation email: nope, nothing.

Best ISP in Australia, highly recommended, local tech support.
Been with AOL (Australia on line) since I don't know when, maybe 10 years or more.
Started when 256 ADSL was available, have been progressively upgraded over the years without any prompting from me, presently we have ADSL2+ Line Speed 9.93 Mbps, Download Speed 1.24 MB/s and we're 3km from the exchange on an old Telstra copper wire service. We can watch/download 3 movies simultaneously, that's better than some who have NBN.
On the occasion when I have had to call them with tech issue most times it gets directly answered, rarely do we have 'wai...Read more

Very knowledgeable staff & always very helpful.
Had my ADSL with Australia Online for several years. Have always found the technical help to be excellent. Even when it's been a problem with my router they have always walked me through it and got it up and running. The longest I've waited to get through on the phone is fifteen minutes and that's pretty rare. Also love that the company is Australian.

Brilliant customer service!
I've been with Australia on Line since my first computer and have always found them to be friendly, prompt and helpful. Most recently I had a crash that resulted in a complete factory reset that soon used up all of my download allocation for the month. Not only did the tech call me back immediately, but also came up with a solution that would increase my internet speed that wouldn't cost me more money. Excellent!

Best Customer Service I have ever had.
Switching from TPG to Australia On Line has been the best decision that our family has made. Our connection with TPG was terrible and every time we called them about it we got no results and had to wait about an hour on the phone to speak to a human. Switching from TPG to Australia On Line we still had the same problems. However after calling up Australia On Line we were speaking to a human in under 2 minutes. Within about 5 minutes of discussing the problem they had me troubleshooting and playing around with the connection, unlike with TPG, I ...Read more
felt like I was doing all of this troubleshooting with a purpose. After about 10 minutes we realised that it was a fault with the line, something that TPG never worked out. Within a week they had someone from Telstra come out (they use the Telstra lines) and fix it all up. Our network speed went from 0.5mb average to 6mb average. AMAZING. After the storms in June 2016 we noticed the internet dropping out again and slowing down to un-useable speeds. Once again, called Australia On Line, they picked up almost straight away and worked out what the problem was after a bit of troubleshooting. For the second time they sent out the Telstra guy to fix the lines. I have never had such good customer service. All of their operators are Aussie (or sound Aussie) which makes talking to them a breeze, nothing is lost in translation / communication. I'm guessing the bad reviews come from people that don't follow through with the instructions, these guys know whats up. I honestly don't know how these guys aren't bigger than they are as they are absolutely amazing. For anyone looking to jump ship, look no further than these legends.Similar opinion? Couldn't wish or ask for better services.
I live in Rockhampton, Central Queensland and have been with Australia On Line since the collapse of OneSeniors ISP. The service provided by the Staff at Australia On Line has been exceptional. I have only had a few problems like dropouts or Inaccessibility of the internet and their staff have had the problems fixed within a very short period of time - the longest was about 40 minutes due to a technical problem between their server and my Modem. NBN is currently in our area installing their cabling and boxes, hopefully it won't be long before w...Read more

Excellent service and quick replies and fixes!
I live in a regional area and have had no drop-outs or speed issues with my adsl line through AOL, despite telstra telling me i was too far away from the exchange! (5klms). I also have my home phone with AOL, whose rates are excellent. AOL's base rate may seem dearer than competitors, but if you check the actual call rates charged by eg foxtel, they are much higher than AOL. I've only ever had one problem with customer service which was swiftly dealt with BY A PERSONAL PHONE CALL! most surprising! I challenge anyone to better that service!

Quick service.
After a truck had pulled down our telephone line I contacted Telstra (who own the line and who provide repairs) in excess of 5 times over a week having to explain our situation to different operators outside of the country, who didn't seem to understand that I didn't have a phone line. They were obsessed with the fact that a technician had come out and "made the line safe" by cutting the line away, and somehow thought this would restore my connection. Frustrated, I contacted Oz Online, who is my actual server and has been for several years, an...Read more
d they got in touch with Telstra on my behalf. I don't know how they managed it but within 4 hours Telstra arrived and installed a new cable. It was so nice to speak to someone here in Australia who completely understood what had happened, and that we actually had no phone cable, no landline or internet. Thank you to Michael and oz online in general. Their customer service has always been amazing, fast, easy and efficient.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Great customer service
I'm the customer in Mullumbimby referred to in another review. For several months this year connection speeds were grindingly slow between 4pm and 11pm most evenings. This was experienced across town and across service providers.
Australia On Line asked me for feedback on which sites I could and could not connect to. They detected a pattern related to upstream routing and forwarded this information to Telstra who changed their traffic routing.
The problem was fixed and evening connections are now fast as - not just for me, but for people ...Read more

The reason I am writing this review is draw attention to the fact that, out of all the providers, it was Australia On Line who both showed enough interest and then put the time in to deal with the problem. Too Many Issues!
Signed up with a broadband and home phone package, was told internet would be activated 5 business days after phone became active. That didn't happen....
Was told there is a problem with the phone line not being recognised by telstra.
Waited more.... then told they had to manually submit my adsl service - whatever that means.
After another 5 business days (I was made to wait), after which I called to find out what's going on.
Was told they have been on the phone all day to telstra and they are still trying to figure out what's going on,...Read more
and that it is all telstra's fault and they have been asking telstra to escalate my case. I finally am told a few days later that my service is now scheduled to go live in 5 business days. They apologised to me, and said it was out of their hands.5 comments

Slow Internet Speed
I have had Australia Online Internet for 3 weeks now the speed that I have had has to be the worst I have ever had, keep been told the the telstra technician are looking at it well when are the going to have this fixed.
Came across due to the glowing reviews that you have been receiving but i can only get ADSL due to where i am, but my previous supplier was much better i only moved as i wanted more data.
Was thinking when i ring to see how things are going that i should be ringing the dial up section instead of the ADSL section.
Come on Australia Online fix your speed for your customers the person that i spoke with today said this isn't out fault it is telstra's. But this still doesn't help me now does it.

Very honest bunch.
I joined Australia Online in 2007, using dial-up at first and then ADSL. Technical support has always been friendly and helpful. I moved somewhere where the rent included broadband access for a while, so I dropped down to the minimal package so I could keep my email address. I am moving again, and talking to them about a new bundle reminded me of how honest and helpful they are -- can't recommend them highly enough.

A Great All Australian Company.
I just recently joined Australia On Line, and am very impressed by the service they provide. It took just over 2 weeks to get internet due to a Telstra line fault. Technical Support kept me up to date, daily with what was happening, and now just got connected to internet with Unlimited Broadband for cheaper than I was paying IINET over 10 years for only 250GB. The speeds I'm getting are pretty impressing as well!!!
My only disappointment is that their Home Phone Bundles are quite expensive!
From reading the reviews on this page, to my first call to Australia On Line and now a new customer, it is great to have a company that knows what their doing and provide a great service whilst always speaking to an Australian!!!!

Very happy!
We only switched to Australia On Line at the beginning of this year, and could not be more pleased with the service, the speed, the quick attention to problems and the integrity they have shown. We had a few problems at the start getting everything to run smoothly, but they helped us step by step, right through to getting the technician out: the crackly line and dropouts our former ISP gave up on are finally gone! We know many of the staff by name and it is a pleasure to deal with them as they are friendly and patient. We like the fact that the help team is not outsourced.
Changing to Australia On Line was the best decision we ever made, and we are pleased to recommend them highly to everyone.
Unbeatable service, impressive speeds, local.

Great service is the difference.
I've been with Australia On line since the mid 90s and have no desire to change. The reason is simple - excellent service. We've moved several times and updated from dial up to ADSL and on each of the rare occasions I've had to contact technical support the service has been excellent and the problem resolved. We recently had problems with our line, and with my wife seriously ill Michael and his team pulled out all stops to fix the problem. Our connection is once again working as it should. Good work AOL!
I've been with Australia On Line for internet purposes nearly ten years now. Around six or so months ago, we bundled internet with phone and mobile. I have to say that their service -- from both an electronic perspective and human relations -- has been terrific and consistent. I have recommended their service to a number of people.
A real human at the end of the line if I have a query. Prompt and polite attention to any request for clarification.

A True Blue Aussie Internet Provider!
I have joined australia online the first time before they started the internet-phone bundle. I was very happy and satisfied with the service and my only reason for leaving them after my initial 2 year contract was that an other company was advertising a rather inexpensive internet-phone bundle that sounded too good to be true.
Well in a way it was! As soon as i was given the choice to get out of the contract i did and rejoined australia online who by that time was also providing internet-phone bundle and i am very happy and satisfied with the service ever since!
Wishing them a very happy twentieth anniversary!
I love the name of the company, the friendly local support crew and the pensioner's bundle!
