Excellent Can't Do Without It

Good value for money

The quality of the bowl is very good, rice never get burned if overcooked, even if you make rissotto or any other dish on it.
Good value for money in comparison with similar brands on the same price range.
We used a lot at home (almost daily) and it last for 5 years before the bowl started to show any damage.
Good quality, good price
It last only 5 years before the bowl started to show some damage in the teflon

Iam very dissapointed that the rice turns out with a slightly burnt bottom on it.
To remove that crust I loose some of my rice quantity.
Up until now I have been very happy with the rice cooker.
Suddenly the rice gets a burnt bottom on it.

It was a wedding present that was great to have to being a pain in the XXXX when the rice begain sticking to the base. I have tried everything to stop it sticking, the 'non-stick' coating is still coming off in places.
Cooks rice quickly and evenly
The non stick coating started coming off with in the first few weeks of use. Now the bottom is silver. I have to cook an extra cup of rice to offset the amount that remains stuck to the bottom of the cooker when cooked. It takes an overnight soaking to be able to remove it.

The steamer works well however the cooker is very messy when cooking brown rice (don't know about white). The book recommends 1 1/2 cups water to 1 cup of uncooked brown rice. However sunrice long grain brown rice needs much more water than that - 1 to 4.
Good vegetable steamer
When cooking brown rice, small droplets of rice water come out of steam hole and make a mess on bench top. The cooker is not overfull as I am only using 1 cup of rice - 4 cups of water.

I really love owning this rice cooker, it cooks rice well and steams vegies nicely. I was dissapointed that the non stick coating came off so quickly but this has not affected it's performance, and none of the non stick stuff came off into the food. But I do now get a layer of rice stuck to the bottom of the pan, which washes off easily after a soak. I find the rice dries out quicly if the cooker is left on 'warm' for longer than 10 mins or so, but the rice stays nice and warm for quite a long time with the machine turned off and the lid left on the cooker. I am happy with my rice cooker.
Cooks the rice well, and quickly, easy to clean.
The non-stick coating came off very quickly, even though I only washed with a soft cloth.

I would not recommend buying the Breville rice cooker. The non-stick surface comes off as soon as you use it. Buy some other brand where the non-stick surface stays on.
Does the job. Cooks rice well
The non-stick surface has just about all come off. It started coming off almost immediately. Now we get quite a bit of rice sticking to the bottom of the bowl. The replacement bowls are hard to get and the price makes it hardly worth it. I have an older Breville rice cooker as well (about 8 years old) and the non-stick surface is still completely intact on that. Looks like the quality has dropped. I would not recommend buying this appliance.

Perfect for cooking rice although not as durable as you would hope for i would be looking for an alternative brand next time around.
The Breville Rice Master was purchased by our household cause i was sick of over cooking or under cooking rice all the time. It is an excellent kitchen companion for the perfect cooked rice every time.
Not completely happy with the inside coating which is showing wear and tear. As far as steaming Vegetables in it i would rather use a designated vegetable steamer as i found i couldn't get my veggies cook to the way i like them in this machine.

I will not get this brand of rice cooker again. The non-stick bowl surface has peeled off. The rice when cooked, sticks to the surface. As I scoop it out of the bowl, the non-stick bit come off with the rice. Getting worse with each use. But owning a rice cooker is convenient. Worth owning one, just shop around.
Easy to use, convenient. Don't have to sit and stir a pot of rice. I can walk away and have a shower while my rice is cooking.
The non-stick surface on the bowl has started to peel off only after 1 year. This was very disappointing.

Will try another brand to see if the non stick coating is any better. WOuld not buy another Breville Rice Cooker again.
Handy way to cook rice
The non stick coating came off pretty soon and i was quoted by Breville $17.84 + $10 postage for the replacement for the non stick bowl. Seeing as a new cooker is $49.99 i thought this was a bit of a rip off...especially as the coating will probably come off again.

I have had my rice cooker for several years now and cannot fault it. I origionally purchased it as a lot of Christmas Islanders were buying it and praising it up, how they could cook a heap of rice and it would stay hot so they could serve it to people as they arrived at different times of the day.
Put the rice in set and forget, no stiring or checking required. No burnt pots or undercooked rice. With a slight adjustment of water brown rice cooks fantastically in it also.
Mine also has a tray to steam vegies but I have never used that.
Non-stick so easy to clean out afterwards.
Cooks perfect rice every time

This makes your kitchen life so much easier! I just put in the rice - I always use 1 and a half cup of water for every cup of rice - and it never fails. The great thing about this is that you don't have to keep on checking if the rice is ready, it automatically turns itself to 'warm' instead of 'cook' when the rice is ready. The steaming basket comes in very handy too, although a bit small. It is big enough to steam some veggies for two people, but don't expect to be able to add potatoes too as that won't fit.

You can however I do 2 cups rice to 6 cups water with the cup provided.
A skin still forms on base of pan however stirring it immediately after it pings cooked, will break it up.
I also never leave cooked Brown Rice on the Warm setting - eat it straight away or remove from pan & store in airtight container.

Yes you can cook brown rice, but it requires more water than for white varieties.

White rice: 2 cups of rice to 2 cups of water.
Brown rice: 2 cups of rice to 3 cups of water.

It's very important to note here that "cups" does not mean a standard metric cup measure, but the special measuring cup provided with the unit.
