Cafe Quality Coffee at Home!

published

My husband and I had put off buying a coffee machine for so long, we had previously spent a bit of money on a Nespresso machine which although was better than instant, it just didn't compare to a well made cafe coffee.
I am SO IMPRESSED with our purchase of this Breville coffee machine! Initially takes a bit of fiddling with settings to get the perfect pour, but honestly once you have this down pat it's smooth sailing and happy drinking! This purchase will pay itself off in no time as we are now getting our daily coffee fix from home. Worth every penny!!

Awesome

published

Great value for money from this machine. Took a bit of tuning of the grind size and amount at the beginning but only needs minor adjustments when changing bean types. Had this for 1 year now and it's preformed better than expected. I was originally in the market for a fully automated machine but in the end I'm glad I settled for the barista just for the adjustability and the pure ritual every morning. Comes with 4 different baskets, a single and double for pre ground and the same for fresh ground. Pretty easy to use with easy to follow instructions and has a decent size water reservoir so your not filling it up all the time. Well finished and nice build quality I was honestly expecting much less for the price.

Makes great coffee! Clean light won't turn off though...

published

I've had my coffee machine for a year now and I love it. It takes a little getting used to at the start but once you've mastered it, it makes really great coffee every time. The only problem I'm having is the cleaning light has been constantly on for the past few months. I clean/descale the machine maybe once every 6 weeks (more often since the light stayed on), but for some reason it's not going off. Contacted Breville and they had no explanation. Taste of coffee is still fine so I hope the machine isn't deteriorating!

Fresh tasting coffee

published

Bought this a few weeks ago and have been using it every day. Replaced my old pod machine as although that was good for convenience it wasn't cafe level coffee and I had concerns about the aluminium from the pod seal leaching into the coffee. Anyway this requires a bit more effort as you first pour in the beans to grind them and then put the ground coffee in the group head to pour into your cup.

It took more than a few tries to get a nice tasting coffee as there are a few different settings you have to tinker with (grind amount, grind size, etc). But now I've got to a point where the coffee is very nice and I have default settings for a good cup of coffee. Would recommend but wait for it to go on sale.

Love the machine but wish it did not lose water

published

Took a while to get the settings right but now makes awesome coffee. Always consistent and makes a good Crema and great froth. Even works with almond milk once you find the right brand to froth well. Our friends are impressed with the pro coffee we serve them. Never use the single setting as by the time it reaches full pressure it cuts out. It leaks lots of water when it purges filling the tray in a short time. Not good for us as we are on rain tank water so use tap water we cart home up a hill. Water usage is precious. Otherwise very happy with our choice.

This is exactly what i needed

published

The machine is very good! Quality of coffee produced was great and it has everything in one machine therefore it saved me so much space to. It is consistent provided that you use the same beans, slight adjustments were required based on the beans and pressure, therefore not really recommended for beginners who started to learn how to make coffee.

Good coffee

published

We use this machine nearly every day. It's very convenient for a home machine although it will take a few tries to set the grind size and dosage to the appropriate setting. Coffee making can get quite noisy and most of the time an expresso shot does not form an even crema on top and splashes are made around the cup. Overall though, it's the most reliable coffee machine we've owned so far.

Great Espresso Machine

published

I have had this machine for about half a year now and it is still pumping out quality coffee. I really enjoy the design and color of the machine as it fits into our kitchen perfectly. The steamer for milk is a bit slow but you can create milk that is good enough for latte art if your into that kind of thing. I had to adjust the amount of water for a double shot but once this is setup, making good espressos is relatively easy.

Great machine can’t live without it in the morning

Pretty good machine. Makes decent crema once you get the settings right which might take a few tries. Good temperature control. It is a good space saving idea. Grinder and frother is quite standard.

Great coffee machine

published

Been using this machine for almost 6 months now. It's very easy to use with the built-in grinder. It will take a few tries dial in the grind. Only complaint is a slight water leak from the catcher.

fantastic machine, great coffee everyday!

published

We have owned this machine for over a year and make at least 4 coffees everyday with it. It is fantastic and has probably saved us a small fortune on coffee from cafes. We even took it on holiday with us because we love it so much and prefer our own coffee now rather than cafe coffee

Great but no milk thermometer

published

I've had this machine for over 6 months and I love it. I use it every day. The only bit that I find inconvenient is that the machine doesn't have an in-built thermometer for the milk frother. My previous machine had one and I find not having it really inconvenient.

Love my morning coffee

published

After owning my own cafe for the last 5 years I really needed something that would serve my husband and I well at home without the expense of a commercial set up. I must say we absolutely love this machine - we wouldn’t live without it. Makes a good cuppa!

Having trouble using the one cup basket

published

Have had my machine a couple of months. After watching numerous YouTube how-to videos and played around with grind size/amount am pretty happy with the results. However when I use the one-cup basket for a single coffee and using exactly the same tamp pressure as with the two, the flow doesn’t start for about 10 seconds, the pressure gauge indicates very low and then swings around to the highest point. Not sure why the inconsistency?

Reliable, long lasting coffee machine

published

Received this machine as a wedding gift in early 2013 and it's been used almost every day, multiple times a day in the 6 years since then with no issues at all. It took a bit of practice and adjusting the grind size/amount to get it right, but once that was sorted we haven't looked back. The whole machine is easy to maintain and keep clean, including a handy "empty me" flag when the drip tray is full.

We love it so much it usually gets carted around on holiday with us, and many people have commented on what a great machine it is.

good coffee, not built to last

good coffee, easy to use, convenient grinder, froths well, fits 2 mugs

had to change seals often and now leaking continuously; poor customer service; for more than $600, we expected it to last for more than 3 years!

Makes good coffee but terrible build quality

published

Originally when buying the Barista Express I was very happy with the machine, its ease of use and the coffee it made. Two years in, the machine stopped working. Fortunately I had purchased an extended warranty, so eventually got a new machine. The replacement Barista Express lasted 5 weeks and the mother board failed. Never again!!

Barista Express BES870

In bought BS870 October 19 and it’s been working fine until about a week ago

I have to manually stop it from pouring either 1 cup of 2 cups

Also the gauge needle does not move to advise if the grind is correct

Frustrating as I’m very particular with cleaning procedures On this machine and I always recommend this machine to others but now I’m very annoyed and doubtful about it’s ability to
Perform

Can you please advise what I need to do to correct these issues or I will be asking for a full refund

Thank you

Barista Express BES870

I have been enjoying my Barista Espresso BES870XL for about two years with proper maintenance routines. Recently the grinding amount adjustment knob does not work. No matter where you put it, it produces the same amount of ground coffee. I use it to adjust the amount of grinding according to the hardness and roasting of the grain. Can you help me solve this problem? Thank you

Barista Express BES870

Been enjoying this machine for 1 month, but now before pressure builds it cuts off. Needle gets to about half-pressure, or less, and then game-over. Very dissapointing after a few weeks of good shots!
