Great machine with one major oversight

published

this makes really nice coffee, no question about it.

That said how on earth did Breville forget to put a water level indicator light on the front panel? This would be more useful that the pressure gauge which is a bit of a gimmick.

Too many times I have been caught half way through a brew where the water runs out and you have to start again, wasting coffee and wasting time.

I actually wouldnt buy another one based on this oversight, which is a shame

Awesome coffee machine! Easy to use and clean.

published

- I bought this coffee machine on a 20% off The Good Guys eBay sale.
- It makes an awesome coffee and the machine is easy to clean.
- It has a good level of adjustment meaning you can tweak it to make optimal coffee for whichever beans you use.
- I would recommend this machine for anyone looking to have an entry-level manual coffee machine.

My mornings are complete

published

This machine has changed my mornings for the better. I am now able to make cafe quality coffee at home. A bit fiddly at first but once you work out your grind quantity and coarseness everything is very easy. My only issue is the water reservoir rattles when the machine is using water, and the size of the reservoir could be a bit bigger.

Perfect small coffee machine for home use

published

Much better than the pod machines, it's the perfect machine without having to spend thousands on a proper barista machine from a cafe. I love being able to try new beans an experiment with it, you get a great crema when making a long black.

Was great while it lasted...

published

We absolutely loved this machine. However after about 2 years it developed some problems with the programming and wouldn't just give a shot of coffee. It would just pour continually. We followed the instruction manual with how to program it and reset it but made no difference. So it's been dishonourably retired.

The coffee shot won’t stop. Tried everything including customer care.

published

Buyer beware with this coffee machine. It was bought July 2017. It won’t pressurise anymore, never reaches espresso and the coffee shot literally doesn’t stop pouring out unless you turn it off. Do research breville and the faults before you buy. I’m going to look for a better quality, longer lasting brand and look into this further accc.

Made great coffee but 2 months out of warranty and stopped working. Makes 2 cups per day, not much usage in my book.
Was a present for my wife and I expected it to last longer.

Great machine

We use ours every day. Simple and easy to use without the huge price tag of other machines. Also like that the machine is a bit smaller than the more expensive models as saved on bench space. Straight forward to clean.

Feels like a cafe in my own home!

published

We were looking at changing from a pod machine for taste and environmental reasons. As we like to have our coffee different this machine allows us to use full bodied, crema and decaf in either beans or ground. I find it easy to use, and have had great results every time I make a coffee. I found the group a little tight at first however that soon loosened up and now it can be done quickly and one handed if needed. The wand is easy to use and has plenty of movement to get the angle right for the desired end result. The noise level is good, it is easy to fill the water tank, and cleaning is also easy. It doesn't take up alot of room on the bench and the brushed stainless steel look keeps it fresh and clean looking

We have one at home and one at work. Adjusting initially to get the right creme takes some goes but it is brilliant after that. Make sure you clean it as advised and it will last years.

Turns my home into my personal cafe

published

I love this coffee machine, have now had it for 2 months and have enjoyed the bonus beans that were offered as a promotion at purchase.
It is so easy to use and maintain you'll never consider a pod coffee machine again.
Must admit I get a bit of a kick out of trying to texture milk, actually find joy in making my own coffee.
Bonus is im saving money by not going out for coffee.
Absolutely recommend, machine produces quality coffee to yoir taste and is very easy to maintain.

Amazing! Perfectly automated for espresso, in-built Grindr - powerful little thing! Best upgrade

published

We are stoked with our recent upgrade!!! Makes perfect espresso, with the best Crema! The beanz last in this inbuilt grindr and stay so fresh, saving us an absolute fortune in coffee costs and heats up straight away (30 seconds) we keep ours on, huge water storage to keep the hot water and steam flowing, quite for the size of it and looks great. Seriously a barista quality machine, we upgraded from the smaller Breville and will never look back, big enough to fit a LARGE mug under the espresso poor, comes with a range of jug sizes. By far the best value for money of all Barista quality machines, recommend for home use, perhaps even commercial its that good.

Barista Express

Only had this machine for less than a month and the milk frother is playing up. It fizzles out when I put it in the milk. It worked fine at first but now is erratic. I looked to see if the steam wand was blocked and used the pin provided however still the same problem. I unscrewed the tip to clean. It looked fine.
I test the steam first then put in standby then put in milk and it stops working. I take it out put on steam again then standby then put in milk and it sometimes works but not as well as it did when I first started using it. I’ve always let it steam for a few seconds after frothing as instructed.
