Better hope you don't need to return anything!
I've had two products I've bought from CPL over the years that I've needed to return, a mouse and monitor. Both times CPL have pushed me off to the manufacturer, even though I was returning with defects within days of purchase. Both had obvious faults - buggy mouse buttons and heavy backlight bleed. Now PC hardware is never perfect, sometimes things come with defects, it's just how things are - but dealing with returns at CPL is a nightmare. They will do and say anything to get out of dealing with you and your problem, including coming up with ...Read more
all sorts of ways to pin the cause of the fault on you. This is in stark contrast with PCCG, Scorptec and heck even MSY, all of which I've had positive warranty experiences with. Avoid at all costs, but if you must deal with them pray to the hardware gods that you don't need to return anything. They aren't there to help you, in fact if you have a problem you'll most likely be met with rudeness and excuses.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Try to return defective screen for light bleeding, They will move it to the brightest location possi
I tried to return a screen for terrible light bleeding. (light pouring out edges in a dark room which hurts your eyes)
They moved it from where we were at the returns desk and placed it in the brightest spot possible, Where you cant see light bleed and then said "look its ok!" When I explained they were being deceptive and I was aware they got very rude and angry. They refused to test for light bleed in even a dimly lit area, Which is how you test for it.

Stay away
Pathetic service. Archaic system of buying a product. Have to wait needlessly while they go about looking bored and uninterested. You pay, wait and wait and then someone comes a long time later to give your product. What kind of system is this?

False Advertising
They advertise a range of 1Tb WD Passport external drives which are not in stock and they have no intention of reordering.
I ordered and paid for 10 they claimed the bank transfer took 5 days my bank said 1 day??? Then a further 2 days later refused to send me the colour I ordered and have promised to send a mixture of odd colours ( blue and ruby ).
I can still place an order and pay for the same stock item on their website which they admit they cannot supply.
The worst online buying experience ever, something should be done to stop this sort of behaviour.

Go anywhere else!
OMG.
IF, you can order the part, and they get it in on time, and it works as expected - thats the best the service will ever get. And why would you want more you may ask?
You will not experience good service when you get to collect the product.
You can expect to wait for someone to bother to serve you.
You can expect attitude.
You can expect no help whatsoever.
Do not pay up front. Basic common sense right? Getting a refund will be impossible.
Well, if ANYTHING doesn't go to plan, "service" is not in their vocabulary. Period.
3rd product from them, and I vow to never go back again.
By comparison, Scorptec, a little more expensive, marginally, but the difference in fantastic customer service is miles and miles apart.

Do not order from their website, it will take weeks and several phone call to get your shipment
I've been purchasing from computer parts land (CPL) for about 15 years now starting back when they advertised in the Green TV Guide. If you find an item that you would like to purchased, please do not purchase from their website, call them, find out if the items are in stock or get them to call their supplier to see if they have it in stock, then check the lead time.
Otherwise you get lost in their antiquated system of countless unanswered email, phone calls to them and they will just ask you to resend the email and it goes on.
Don't pay ...Read more
by direct deposit as this add about 3 days onto your order regardless of what their website states. BPay is not a bad way to pay them, but if your IP Address is linked to a different address then your shipping address, expect to make a few phone calls to sort it out. AND only talk to the online sales manager, which you have to tell them that you are returning his call and if he's not in ask whether he's at another location, them call that location. Credit card is the fastest way to pay, but you'd know that if you followed my advice and called them first to place your order.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Probably lost my graphics card..
After many stocking complications, bought a Galax 980 TI HOF card from CPL, after 1 month the card wouldn't post, took 1 month to get CPL to accept an RMA, sent it off, 3 months down the track after 20+ phone calls and 20+ emails, all they have told me is that they sent it off, but they don't know whether Galax has received it yet, or where it is. Called them, and they tell me to send them another email to ask what they can do for me, I have not received a reply to all but one of my emails from them, and even that one came back 1.5 weeks from when I sent it. All in all, a terrible company.

Manipulative Customer Service and False advertisement
I made a order and paid for it on Monday. The website says it will be shipped in 24-48hrs. I waited 9days and nothing happen. No update at all. So i called them and request a cancellation as i can't wait anymore. I was told it can be done as the item has not been shipped and it will be done within 4hrs. The next day, i received a shipping notice in the afternoon and followed a by email few hours later saying that the item has shipped so they can't refund me. Then i requested them again for a refund for the two reasons above and was denied.

I have bought another item from them before and it was spot on service. Their customer service on the phone is fine too. it's the management behind that is manipulative. Lesson learnt: 1. Do not trust their information on the website. 2. They do not update you on any delays. 3. They have manipulative management.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Warranty returns - Video Card ASUS GTX 750 OC 1GB
CPL is directly harming the brand name of manufacturers when it comes to warranty returns.
Something the manufacturers should take note of.
Faulty video card ASUS GEFORCE GTX 750 OC 1GB. Spiking RPM when the card is below 30 Deg Cel.
Told 3 weeks. Then told 4 weeks. Then told 8 weeks by CPL warranty people.
Spoke with ASUS support and it's definitely a replacement. In a world where info travels at light speed, CPL
is still at snail pace. They blame the supplier, then they blame ASUS, then they come up with some convoluted response. Keep away otherwise test your hardware immediately to get a replacement.

Don't waste your time, look elsewhere
Paid for item 29th January 2016, they stated item would be in stock very soon, and would contact me within 2 days, 11 days later I contacted them to ask where my item was, and all I got was demands about stay with order, cancel, order new item. It has been in stock on their site for 7 days now and I still have not heard anything regarding my $869 Motherboard.

e to all customers, I still do not have my Motherboard, and it is the 6th March 2016. If I do not get any word this week, I shall be putting in a claim with my bank as they have not cared for me the customer, I think they expect me just to go away, well I do have news for them, a call today until the day I receive the item will be my only way to harass them into sending me the item, and it better be in working order or I will be taking them to court. I have wasted so much time and effort (and money) with these unprofessional staff members who do not care if they are in business or not. Don't bother with CPL, go with a well known company that delivers on their promises. That's my advice, as they simply do not care for the customer who keeps them in business. So as far as I am concerned if this review of them helps others make an informed decision in making a choice to buy elsewhere, they can go out of business due to their lack of care for the customer. Very angry unhappy, CPL customer. EDIT: Confirmation of tracking number ONLY after calling them (still in Melbourne, yet to be delivered to Adelaide), they don't answer their own online forms regarding your own purchase, beware, if you want no communication, then these guys are for you, if you pay lots for a product and want continuous updates, look elsewhere.Similar opinion? It worked out
I had a build put together through au.pcpartpicker which has CPL as one of their vendors. I put an order through for my items, and then, like an idiot, didn't look up the reviews until after I had placed the order. For a while I super concerned that I would run into some issues, but my deposit went through ok, and everything was sent off through Fastway couriers (which also have bad reviews so I was concerned even more!). In the end it all turned up within a week. The box only had the air packets in it, no bubble wrap, but I wasn't too worried since all the item I purchased were in boxes anyway. I've put the computer together but haven't tested if it all works yet since I only noticed once I got it that my current PSU isn't strong enough.

Once in a life time experience of crap.
Ordered multiple parts from CPL and waited a long period of time with no updates. So I emailed them asking what the issue was and I got no replies after several days. Tired of waiting, I called up only for them to tell me one of the parts I ordered was out of stock and will be coming in another week. CPL apparently has no obligation to tell you that a product of theirs is out of stock which also shows otherwise on their website inventory. Extremely frustrated they didn't even bother to notify me about this. Told them to take out the parts that weren't in stock and send the rest. Have yet to receive a refund for the exclusion.
Bloody train wreck of a business.

Three weeks of disappointment and well out of pocket!
Ordered software, turns out the wrong operating system. CPL pointed out if you scrolled far enough down the page after non-related info, tucked away was they OS info. Very poor info and out of sight. CPL offer to exchange so I paid to send it back. Only after they received the product back only then to have them charge a new fee as in a day costs have risen, then a restocking fee, then double postage to send it back which happened to be double what it cost to post and insure it to them. Their customer service stinks. If you think you may save o...Read more
ne dollar with CPL, you'll lose another $100 trying to sort it out and still not get customer care. Don't give these people your hard earned money. Go somewhere you can see the seller and hopefully with a seller who sees value in repeat customers. These people treat you like you're in a grave, and their happy your dead to them. They know you won't be standing at their counter - grave robbers. The pain of dealing with these thieves isn't worth the chance you may be 1 in 70 that doesn't get robbed.Similar opinion? Worst people to deal with, do not refund anything
Dont know how to run a business. My case was almost destroyed when I had picked it up and brang it home, and they wouldn't even give me a refund, and said it had to go through a process to see if I had damaged the case myself when the case was clearly in peices.

CPL Warranty Service is Terrible
Hello - I have been going to CPL for many years and their cost and sales service is quite good. Last year i bough a desktop computer system worth $2080 total, I was advised by the salesperson to purchase their best graphics card, an Asus Geforce GTX780 3GB as it was very reliable and backed by a 3 year warranty. It cost $829.
In mid 2015 the graphics card started playing up, but would then self-rectify. It finally failed so I called CPL and they said to bring it in. I did so on 5-12-15. I waited 3 weeks then contacted CPL to find out when I c...Read more

Horrible, Dishonest service
Buying parts for a custom water-cooled build. bought fans five weeks weeks ago, and they told me they would have them in three Saturdays ago. then I went out to pc case gear out to buy a black ice 280gts and venturi fans for the front rad.(spectre pro from CPL going on the top 360mm.) about 2 weeks ago I called them and asked "Whats taking so long" Then I was faced with a ten minute wait on hold, followed by a guy from "Purchasing department" who told me the delivery to CPL was delayed, but they should have them in next Saturday (two weeks fro...Read more
m present.) they where not there. then I am told there is a "90 % chance the fans will be in on Monday" Again, They where not there. I call again on Wednesday and get told by a woman who had some interest in been honest that 'there was never an ETA on that order, the supplier had run out of stock' I then ask why the people I talked to before told me they would be a on Monday. "I don't know sir" I was told to call back later. I called them a couple of days ago and the manager of the store offered me a refund for 45 bucks. I explained that I had already purchased other parts around the guarantee from the staff that I believed it would be fair for them to honor the 8 bucks more for the blue led corsair fans, but was told rudely that it wasn't his problem. now I have to pay a ridiculous price for riing in the top. dishonest staff who are difficult to understand, and will say anything to get you off the phone, hours spent on the phone (on hold) and a rude manager, "We pride ourselves in customer service" <<< Funny joke!! Horrible service, and a bad attitude. Would not recommend shopping here, better off at Centre com or even pc case gear. I should mention, like another reviewer the fans where listed as in stockSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Beyond expecations - goods received one business day after order
A new workstation graphics card was announced by AMD in December (FirePro W4300). CPL seemed to be one of the first larger physical retailers in Melbourne to offer the card. After checking other suppliers and my US supplier that did not have stock, I ordered the card from CPL online for pick up at store. The order process was smooth. Two calls about stock and paying deposit were answered quickly and accurately and the stock arrived within one business for collection over the Australia Day long weekend. ie ordered Thursday night - paid deposi...Read more

Very slow service. Waste of time
Went in store to buy stuff. Only ONE sales person on deck. Lots of other people walking around back and no one helping to serve. Single sales guy takes his time stuffing around. Frustrating! MSY is quicker with 2 sales people most of the time.
Also online stock status does. It match what there actually is. It's a tech shop... Tech shop that can't update it's database and website in a timely manner.... Crap!
