We have tried to call covermore to ask that our elderly Mum’s travel insurance for their cancelled UK trip on 15th April 2020, be refunded or credited. We are unable to get through which we understand as many people are in the same situation. They paid over $1300 for insurance they are no longer able to use and would like a refund or credit to use in 2021 when they rebook.

Absolutely poor management of getting me home with a broken collarbone
Covermore was extremely unhelpful in getting me home from Japan. I had to organise And pay for my own bus from Hakuba(6hrs from Tokyo) to the airport, was told about my flight on the day and had to book the bus immediately, very lucky it wasn’t yet full as they usually fill up quickly. I had requested I needed assistance with my bags as I has a snowboard bag, suitcase and backpack and was unable to carry these as I had broken my collarbone. not speak Japanese. I did manage to ask a kind stranger who spoke English on the bus to help me. They said they had arranged for assistance when I got to the terminal. Once I found the terminal I discovered it was closed for another 4 hours, therefore I had to sit at the check-in terminal for 4 hours. While on the bus to the airport, I somehow managed to worsen my injury, my collarbone had snapped on the bus and I could not support it at all and had to hold my arm, therefore rendering me with no hands. I tried calling covermore for help/advice, they said there was nothing they could do to help me and that I’d just have to continue on my journey to the airport as planned and try come back to Australia. They put me through to a nurse who was absolutely useless during this stressful and scary time he sounded completely uninterested and that he didn’t know what he was talking about. Once I had managed to get to the check-in desk, I had someone take me to my gate in a wheelchair, as I said at this point my collarbone was snapped and I could not support it at all and could not carry my backpack. I asked if they could assist me by wheeling me to the bathroom. Once I had gone to the bathroom, I came out to find that they had left. I had my backpack with me but could not carry it myself as I had to support my arm. Therefore I had to push through the excruciating pain in order to pick my bag up and walk back to my gate and wait another 1.5hrs until my flight boarded. I could not believe how poorly supported I was in my experience and will NEVER use covermore again. I highly suggest you look elsewhere.1 comment

Cancelled Travel Insurance- unable to get a refund- Poor Customer service
As with others on this forum I have tried several times via email to cancel my international travel policy receiving the return email that they would respond within 2 business days. The first cancellation I sent was on the 11th March to enquiries and when they changed the email to refunds@ I sent it there on the 17th March. All I have received is the auto response that they would reply in 2 days. Whilst I understand that times are busy I think that by this stage at least they could respond with some indication of when this will be processed rather than leaving me in the lurch. I have tried to call on their enquiries number and either it says there is an hour wait or today the line just rang out....

Disgusting Claim Service
We are long time clients of Commonwealth Bank and have Complimentary Travel Insurance with our Credit Card which we have used many times without making a claim.
My husband was diagnosed with cancer in early June and we had to cancel 2 trips that we were taking in July and September.
We only were making a claim on one policy as the July trip was kindly just refunded by the airline and company we booked through.

Cover Less
As soon as the Covid -19 virus came on the scene Cover More stated it does not cover Epidemics, Pandemics etc for Credit card policies ie Visa/MasterCard. So any hospitalization, additional spouse accommodation/Isolation costs are not covered.Additionally cost incurred for hire car cancellations are not covered nor are costs for airline cancellations and/or additional flights. This is the one time when you want a reliable insurer not one that relies on Excessive Exclusions. I will never use Credit Card Insurance again even if I have to pay for it with another company ( ING) that does not exclude Epidemics or Pandemics.

Shocking Service if you need to Claim!!
I agree with many of the poor reviews below. I lodged a claim with Covermore on 18/12/2019 and as of 25/02/2020 I am still waiting. Was a straightforward claim, my daughter had an asthma attack on holiday requiring hospitalisation. Lodged all paperwork online, and I called them 2 weeks later only to be informed, ohh the upload facility on the site doesn’t always work so your medical invoice attachments have not come through. Great service
After fainting in San Francisco in October 2022 and receiving hospital admission and treatment. Covermore were efficient from the get go. Cheng has been so helpful once I got back to Sydney and did all the paperwork. He kept me up to date at all times. I would highly recommend covermore. I have used them consistently for the last 10 years (this was my first claim) and have already paid for two upcoming trips. Once again thanks to Cheng for the great assistance and making it an easy process.

No matter how many times I tried to change the Excess amount from $250 to $100, it did not save the change and there was no way to check it before buying the policy. I suggest a "refresh" button or similar could be added?

Disgusting Claim service with my deceased Mum
My Mum and Dad took out cover in February 2022 for a planned trip in August 2022. My Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer in July and had to start treatment immediately hence cancel their trip. A claim was lodged, all relevant paper work they asked for supplied. 5 months later and many emails chasing, the claim has still not been finalised or approved. My Mum has days to live and keeps saying please sort it for me your Dad will need the money. Its over $6000. I just kept getting told its been referred to our medical team. DO NOT ever trust this company to pay out on pre booked holidays. Shocking disgraceful ethics. What are they waiting for ? Her death certificate!!!

Excellent Policy
