My wife and I took out a yearly policy. So when the trip in April was cancelled, the Pandemic clause meant a dead end. But now we cant travel and when we get around to completing the trip to Europe, the policy will run out. But the policy should still cover the trip we planned to do because It just cannot be completed thanks to government rules. Or Covermore should provide us with a refund for the remainder of the policy.
So can I pause my yearly insurance ?

Why is that? If the trip is cancelled and I haven’t made a claim then why wouldn’t you refund a policy that is useless?

I had a trip booked which has been cancelled due to Covid 19. It was a package of airfares, land tour and alaskan cruise. I have now re-scheduled the trip until Sept 2021 and wanted to transfer my travel insurance policy from the original booking (with no claim) to the re-scheduled. My current insurer has reclined. Is this something Cover-more would cover. What is my position to insure with you now as it is Sept 2021 and some 17 months away

Hi Cynthia! Regrettably, I’m not an insurance policy expert! It would be something you would have to address with an insurance provider or the travel agent you booked with! But I would question what is needed and when you should consider coverage from! Also ask is Cover-more the right insurance agent! I’m personally not getting coverage for my next trip until I’ve boarded a plan and only for unforeseen medical expenses! I no longer trust any insurance provider! I’m sorry I’m unable to answer your question directly! Kind Regards Sam

My son and partner booked an Asian trip in may and have cancelled through flight centre. They had car insurance with cover more. Flight centre are telling them they will only be refunded once the money is refunded from hotels etc. Does not sound right to me. Can you confirm if a claim was lodged would they just get the allocated amount back directly from you and is flight centre being misleading.
Thanks Mathew

MatthewStewart! To be frank & honest! Flight Centre hasn’t done themselves any justice! Google COViD-19 & Flight Centre complaints and you will see a flood of angry customers! I would bet it’s likely to further add pressure on the company viability I personally wouldn’t want to be a shareholder of Flight Centre! In relation to your refund I would check with the hotel directly as Flight Centre primarily deal with wholesalers they own! Example Infinity Travel is flight centre! So I would question the hotel directly if they have refunded! If yes lobby your local MP and push hard for immediate cash refund!
Thanks Sam but will wait for a response from cover more. In my view the only one they should be dealing with is cover more as the insurer
Thanks anyway

Good afternoon. My husband and I took out Policy No. 7201 0008 7442 on 30th Jan 2020 with cancellation cover and $250 excess at a cost of $1177.00. This was for a trip to Ethiopia from 22/09/2020 to 14/10/2020. I have contacted our travel agent who advised that Singapore Airlines will only be offering a credit but it’s not clear for how long or if that credit starts from the original trip date. We would be happy to change our Covermore Policy dates to future travel but could not confirm when that could happen. Can you suspend our policy cover until we know when we could travel to Ethiopia or is it better to claim the cost of airfares paid to date ( $2816.00) now from you or the Cancellation Cover paid for of $3000.00. Hi,
I took out Policy 720100016631 well before Covid was a known event. Due to not being able to get through on your phone line several times after waiting 1hr+, I submitted a claim which was denied due to Covid.
I have now been told that because I submitted a claim the policy has now been 'used' and my $421 policy cannot be partially refunded or the dates moved forward.
If I could have got through on your phone line, I would not have submitted a claim. I don't recall during the claim submission process seeing the refund rules regarding a claim, if so I would not have submitted a claim.
Is the any leniency to resolve this issue seeing as I have been a loyal customer for many years and the high purchase price of this policy? A partial refund would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

I booked with Flight Centre my Covermore insurance & paid $1008 for $15,000 cover. I don't seem to have a policy number as the consultant said if I wanted to increase my cover for $20,000 then a quote was given for $1,146 to pay at a later date. I paid for my flight plus $1008 for CovwrMore Insurance on 26th October 2022 long before COVID19 was a "known event" & the consultant has reissued my ticket for 2 pax for future travel. I consider that I have paid out for no service & that Covermore have taken my money & getting interest on it. Can my travel insurance be refunded to me for a future premium when I do go. The consultant at Flight Centre cancelled my insurance very quickly & has now gone on long service leave so I can't check anything with him. I don't want to have to pay out $1,008 again when I eventually do travel. Even part payment should be better than nothing. Please answer. Helen

I rang Covermore on Thursday 9th March & after a very long wait got through to Customer Service. I spoke to a young girl who didn't feel that Flight Centre should have cancelled my insurance but she didn't know for sure. Customer Service? She spoke to her supervisor & said that her supervisor would get back to me by email. Admittedly we have just come through Easter but I'm still waiting on the supervisor's email. Also they were able to give me my policy number which may be a help. Helen

They appear to be ignoring all customer requests. I’m hoping people remember this treatment after this current situation is over.
I have been trying to contact them for 2 weeks now about refund for the insurance policy under the 14 day cooling off terms due to flights being cancelled.
No one will respond to phone calls or reply to emails. Very unsatisfactory service and bad PR.
Will not forget !!!!
Contact the Airline for changes to travel dates or a credit for future use. It is not unusual in this unprecedented time that there are lengthy wait times or an inability to get through. My claim was submitted online not through their contact centre or email.

Asking for a refund of our Insurance because we won't be travelling, our flights have been cancelled and because of Australia's travel restrictions we won't be going anywhere in a hurry. Would like to see us refunded please. email address was on both of those forms. Our email is also on the confirmation that you sent us on 3rd Feb.

I have a cover more policy taken out in Feb 2020 for travel in June to August. I sought to cancel the cover as it is almost certain that we can't go. Trip to be through Europe. Your company has advised we will lose $300 for a policy we haven't even used... why??
9 answers
Can't answer that. My trip was cancelled by the cruise company.
Customer Service TeamCover-More Travel Insurance
Hi Brad,
Thank you for your enquiry. When requesting to cancel your policy, please refer to the policy wording on the Product Disclosure Statement:
"Cancelling Your policy
If You cancel Your policy within a cooling-off period of 15 working days after You are issued Your Certificate of
Insurance, You will be given a full refund of the premium You paid, provided You have not started Your Journey or You do not want to make a claim or exercise any other right under Your cover.
After this period You can still cancel Your policy. We will refund to You a proportion of the premium for the unexpired period of cover (less any non-refundable government charges and taxes that We have paid and are not recoverable). You are not entitled to a refund if You have started Your Journey, You want to make a claim, or exercise any other right under Your cover."
Alternatively, you may request for a date change for a later travel on your travel insurance policy.
I understand the policy wording and it is ambiguous to say the least. The travel period was from late June to early August 2020. The policy was cancelled under the advice of a travel agent as the trip was cancelled and the insurance served no purpose at all. I received a response from the insurance company who deducted 25% of the policy premium from the refund. You stated (cover-more) that as I had taken out insurance in February that I was to lose $300. This for a policy that provides no cover at all for anything outside of the policy period.
I still fail to understand, using the simple man in the street scenario, that how can this be justified when the cover purchased was specific to a period of cover. The explanation by cover-more provided no details of the calculation of this amount, provided no explanation as to why the date of paying the premium inferred that the cover period started from that date, even though the cover period was for a future date. And I note that I can find no details of any calculation or explanation regarding this in the policy. Nor can I find any benefit provided to me outside of the policy period, that would warrant the explanation provided. The benefits provided are to insure against events that occur within the cover period, that's why its called travel insurance. Its not called before I travel insurance. If a consumer knew this, they would not take out cover early and logically wait 15 working days before travelling to take out the insurance. Maybe this should be more clearly stated in the policy so that an arbitrary 25% deduction cannot be made from the policy premium. I have asked for an explanation and have also asked for a call to discuss an amicable arrangement. To date I have received one response similar to to your ambiguous policy information (as above), I have read it, and it provides no specifics surrounding the 25% deduction from the premium Paid. I have written again to the complaints department and again nothing.
Thanks in advance
Brad Collins
