I recently got a new V6 Dyson. It blows hot air. My previous Dyson Motörhead blows cool air. Is this normal, hot air coming out?

2 answers

Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Micki,

Thanks for your question. It is normal for warm air to be expelled from the machine. The effect of this can be reduced by switching the machine from Max power to normal power, and also ensuring that the filter is cleaned regularly and the machine is clear of blockages.

If you need further assistance please reach out at [email protected] and we will be happy to help.

Hi there,

Thanks for your question. You can certainly leave your machine attached to the charger when not in use.

The battery is only charging when there is a blue light on the machine when plugged in. Once fully charged, this light will turn off.

If you have any more questions please reach out at [email protected] and we will be happy to help you further.

Hi Mima,

Thank for your question.

If an object has caught under the head when vacuuming it could drag along and mark the floor.

Please also check the underside of the Motorhead for wear and tear or damage. Please check the mini rollers and velvet strips, and the hard plastic surfaces.
So that we can assist you, please reach out at [email protected] along with your contact details, the serial number of your machine and a picture of the underside of the motorhead.

We look forward to hearing from you.

I have cleaned the filtered two times in a row now and my Dyson machine is still doing that pulsing thing, turning on and off. When the filter is not in the machine, the vacuum will stay on. As soon as I put the put the filter back in, it doesn't work properly. They are sending me a new filter. In the mean time, Can I use the vacuum without the filter in it or will this harm it?

2 answers
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Cat,

Thank you for your query.

The filter is part of the airway of the machine and without it, the machine will work as the air doesn't pass through the floor tool, wand or cyclone. Therefore, we would highly recommend against using the machine without the filter in place.

The motor pulses when there is a part blockage. I think it is to protect the motor. If you remove the floor tool from the stick there are two parts that can be turned with a 5c coin to open it and you can remove the roller brush and also the underside of the floor attachment. Once open you can pull any hair or threads off the roller, and check the pathway of the debris. It can sometimes collect in the nooks and turns on its path upwards to the collector cup. I blow through mine over a bin and sometimes dust and fluff in a wad comes out. I empty the dust cup as well and put back together for use. Then i pull the trigger and listen. If it has been cleared it should run smoothly. If there is still a blockage somewhere it will pulse. If you have vacuumed up a lot of dust or powdery substances it can collect around the filter section and internally, so I tap the top plastic cones on top in its normal orientation, then upside down and back to normal way and this will release any powder that compressed and is partially blocking air path. Put it back together and if all is clear you are back in force. If not, I would pull the floor tool apart again (lefty loosey, righty tighty) using 5c coin. I am not sure it would be recommended by dyson but if I cannot see or find anything more and it is still pulsing i put the opened floor tool under the water and flush it and then something pops out. It is important to let it dry after that completely before reassembling and using. I think you will then find your dyson is working as it should be. If not maybe there is some other problem, but dyson are very good on the phone and will walk you through steps to solve problems.

Can you leave a Dyson V6 Motörhead cordless Vac on the charger without damaging the Batter?

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Jerry,

Your Dyson V6 Motorhead has smart electronics within the machine, battery and charger to ensure the machine won't overcharge. Because of these electronics, it is perfectly okay to do quick "top-up" charges without the need to exhaust the battery each time before charging.

Also, we recommend you leave the machine on charge when not in use, this will ensure it is always ready for your next cleaning session.

I have a Dyson V6 motorhead which I love. However I have a new rug and it says to not use the beater brush. Can the beater brush be turned off and if so how do I accomplish that?

2 answers
TJFL

My V6 head is not really "motorised" as it is propelled by the suction of the vacuum so there is no way to switch it off. I have found no problem when using this on my rugs. Maybe we have different attachments? Wouldn't hurt to contact Dyson directly.

Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi there,

Thanks for your question.

With our cordless machines, they are designed to operate with the motorhead spinning for the best pick up. The brushbar cannot be turned off on the motorhead, if you wish you could use an alternative tool such as the wide nozzle tool from the cordless tool kit: http://shop.dyson.com.au/accessories/handheld-tool-kit-913049-01

If this does not resolve the issue or you have any further questions, please send us an email at [email protected] and we will be happy to help.

Hi there,

Thanks for your question.

We do not include any screws in the box, so as not to damage your walls by inadvertently supplying the incorrect type.

We recommend choosing the ones that will best suit your wall type.

In the mean time, your machine can be charged with the charger cable plugged directly into the back of the handle.

Yikes. That happened to me with a quite old hand held. That went on for a few weeks and then it just died. It was about 5 years old though. I'd say its time to speak to Dyson directly if its a new machine or replace it if its old. Ring them, they're really great and fix it over the phone or replace it 1800 239 766. PS I don't work for them, I just needed their help recently and they were terrific.

There is a little black flap that is stuck where the dirt enters the canister. Clean the dirt away from it and make sure it can open and close freely. And your dyson is ready to go again

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Rebecca,

Pulsating means that the motor is not getting the correct airflow, generally it means that the filter may be blocked or the machine needs a little maintenance and this is something that can be resolved at home.

Please start by checking the machine as showing in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubbGu1Man8k

If this does not resolve the issue, please send us an email at [email protected] and we will be happy to help.

My Dyson V6 smelled really bad whenever I'm doing any vacuuming now. i have tried deep cleaning and leaving all the parts to dry before reassembly but the smell want go away. Help please.

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Suwandy,

Thanks for your question.

If it is a musty or damp smell, start by washing the filter in cold running water, by rinsing it then turning the filter upside down and tapping it 10 times. Repeat until clean and ensure it is 100% dry waiting 24 hours before putting it back in the machine, as shown here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-e8dmP0mf_E&list=PLDfU9nMES75PoMsgq1uWfWycYDlvF8gTm&index=2

Check the motorhead, by removing the head, then using a 10 or 20 cent coin to remove the brushbar (twisting the end cap at the side). Once you have removed the brushbar completely from the head, use a chopstick or wooden spoon handle to push from the neck (end that connects to the metal pole), through the floor tool either pushing out the blockage or pulling it out.

Remove the clear bin as shown here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsepyM2m0ps
Once the bin is removed wipe over the cyclone shroud (area with the mesh with a clean dry cloth) and tap the top of the machine with your hand till the dust stops coming out.

Finally remove the wand and check the inlet to the bin for blockages.

If this does not resolve the issue please send us an email at [email protected] and we will be happy to help.

My motorhead does not hold a charge what is wrong?

2 answers

Ask Dyson but I would suspect the contact between motorhead and the body.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Hugo,

Thanks for your question.

If it's making a pulsating noise before it cuts out, then there is likely to be a blockage of air flow to the motor. We can assist you with this, but start by washing the filter in cold running water and allowing 24 hours for it to dry and also checking and clearing the motorized head of blockages.

If it runs for 6-8 minutes then just turns off and displays a blue flashing light, then just turn off the max button as shown in this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32KSMSRSTC0

If we can be of any further assistance please don't hesitate to call us on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm.

Hi Angie,

Thank you for your query.

The V6 Motorhead exhausts the air (after going through the cyclones and filter) through the sides toward the top of the machine. This is completely normal.

Yes, it does, but I tend to leave the one head on. I use the head with the spinning rotors in it. It goes from hard floors to carpet floors really easily.
