Hi Nathan,

I am sorry to hear about this. A V6 cutting in and out usually indicates a blockage within the machine.

I would encourage you to run through the checkpoints outlined here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCUY4crvKK8

This should assist in getting your machine back up and running, however if you need further assistance, please email [email protected] and we will be more than happy to assist.

Had a V6 for about a year. The problem is that when i pull the trigger the motor works and suction starts but the brush does not move round. it is clean from any debri. Could you tell me what the problem could be?

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Lee,

We are sorry to hear that you are having an issue with the motorhead of your cordless machine. We recommend to follow these checkpoints:

Remove the brushbar from the motorhead. The best way to remove it is to use a 10 or 20 cent coin to remove the brushbar (twisting the end cap at the side). Once you have removed the brushbar completely from the head, please check each end of the brushbar, the end cap and the axle where the brushbar connects for any blockage or damage.

Separate the clear plastic bin from the main body of the machine. To do this, you will need to open the bottom of the bin by pressing the red tab. Once the bottom of the bin is open, press the red tab again to remove the clear bin off the main body. Once the clear bin is separated, clean the metal contacts behind the clear bin and on the main body with a dry cloth. Assemble the machine and test if the motorhead will spin.

If the motorhead still does not spin after following steps 1 and 2, please remove the long stick/wand and test if the motorhead will work when connected straight on the nozzle of the clear bin.

If the motorhead still does not work after following above steps please email [email protected] and we will be in touch ASAP to help.

Hi ronj4u,

Thank you for posting your V6 battery question.

There is only one battery manufactured for the V6 range which will provide a run time of 18-20 minutes fade-free power in normal mode and 6-8 minutes in MAX mode.

Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Paula,

Thank you for posting your V6 question to Product review.

The pre-filter which is located in the top of the machine is only held in place by a rubber seal. Upon it's first time being removed, it may be a little stiff, try holding onto the middle prong and wiggling it from side to side in an effort to loosen to the air seal before pulling out. If you are unable to get this filter removed, please return to the store of purchase within 14 days, or contact the Dyson helpline on 1800 239 766 for further assistance.

Our helpline is open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm and over the weekend from 8:30am - 4pm.

I have a Dyson V6 and even though I wash the filter, clean out the clear chamber and tap out the dust from the main unit, it absolutely stinks when running leaving my home smelling dirty. What can I do to get rid of the smell? It's making it unusable.

2 answers
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Pammy67,

We appreciate you getting in touch regarding the smell of your machine.

If any liquid or damp enters the machine, it can cause it to harbor a smell. This can also occur if pet hair is left inside the bin canister as it contains oils which can produce odour. If cleaning the filter, wiping inside the bin and dusting the cyclone shroud has not resolved the issue, a replacement filter and cyclone may be required.

For assistance, please contact our helpline on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I've been very careful about cleaning, washing and drying the filter and canister. I haven't dusted the cyclone though as it's not really accessible. I don't want to poke around and damage anything. What am I safe to use? I'm in the UK so would it be a different number I call please? Thanks :)

Hi, I have just bought a Dyson v6 cordless vacuum cleaner. Once the battery has fully charged does power have to be turned off or can it still stay with power left on? Joy

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Joy,

Thank you for your question.

Leaving your machine on the charger will cause no damage to your machine or the battery life and run time. The charger cable has a mechanism which recognizes when the machine is fully charged and will switch off to ensure that no more power is transferred. This is why we have designed a handy docking station which allows the charger cable to be threaded through for easy storage and ensures your machine is always charged ready to go.

If this has not answered your query, please contact our helpline on 1800 239 766 for further assistance. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm.

My elderly mother has just bought a dyson v6 and she finds it constantly blows in her face and it's quite hard for her to push .is it normal to do this ?

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Tre,

That is a great question, thanks for getting in touch.

Air blowing from the back of a cord-free machine is completely normal, as this is where the motor is situation. While these machines have quite strong suction for their compact design, they are made easy to push with the small roller wheels and the protective felt strips. Please check the underside of the floor tool to ensure that the roller wheels are not jammed, and that the protective felt strip is still in place.

If we can be of any further assistance, please don't hesitate to call us on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm and over the weekend from 8:30am - 4pm.

I want to buy the V6, but is the only way of charging it by hanging it on thw wall mount? I need a cordless vacuum for a companct flat so worried I dont have the wall space to mount. Can I charge and then store under the stairs for example?

2 answers

Vic C.

Yes of course.
If I had a way of attaching photo to help you I would. This is how I charge it as I haven't actually mounted my wall bracket up yet. (Been busy and never got around doing this yet)
You can plug the charger into the wall and place the V6 under the stairs and charge. You don't have to use the wall bracket. You can just plug it directly into the back.
The wall bracket is designed so the charger can be mounted within the bracket so when you plug the V6 into the bracket it clips onto the power cord charger plug. Do I make sense?
Don't stress. You can do what you want to do with it.

Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Nyx1,

Great question, thank you for asking.

The docking station is provided with most cord-free machines as a storage device however, it's use is optional and is not necessary for the charging component - Simply plug the cable directly into the back of your V6 main body handle.

Ive fully charge my v6 and used it once and only lasted 9minutes. Am I doing something wrong?

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Liz,

Thanks for your question.

It sounds like your machine may be set in MAX mode straight out of the box. MAX mode triples the power of the machine, only allowing for 6-8 minutes of run time generally. To turn MAX mode off, please pull and hold the red trigger on, and press the silver MAX button on the back of the machine's main body in once. You will notice a change in power and sound of the machine, as well as the disappearance of the blue light around the button.

Please don't hesitate to reply or call us on 1800 239 766 if this advice does not resolve the problem. Our helpline is open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm and over the weekend from 8:30am - 4pm.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Shaza123,

Thank you for reaching out on product review, it is a shame to hear that the machine is not operating as you would expect.

We would recommend to remove the wand and clear bin components off the machine and clean the electrical contact terminals located up inside the main body above the serial number. Ideally, use a cotton bud to clean this section effectively. Don't forget to clean the electrical contact terminals on the back of the clear bin which also connect into the same position inside the main body. This should get the brush bar rotating again as normal, improving the pick up performance.

If this suggestions fails, please reach out to us on 1800 239 766 for assistance. Our helpline is open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm and over the weekend from 8:30am - 4pm.

I put my charger into the wall mount item they gave me. As i was going to see how to fit it and decided it was too much of a hassle and i would rather just charge it with the plug. However i could not take the charger out of the wall moint and am charging it with the wall mount even though it is not stuck on the wall. The charger is not coming out of the hole you insert it in any ideas on how to get it out? Regards charlie (Bought it 3 weeks ago working fine love the product but would like to charge it without the wall mount)

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Charlie,

Thank you for your question.

Removing the charger cable plug from the top of docking station may be slightly more difficult if the station is not connected to the wall. To be remove successfully, the plug must be pushed into the back of the docking station (normally backwards towards the wall), before it can be lifted/ pushed out the top of the dock.

We hope that this explanation satisfactorily helps to resolve the issue you are having. Please reach out to us on 1800 239 766 if you require any further assistance.

Hey Sharon,
My thought is that it may not be spitting in tight as the unit is pushed into the charging base.
Push in as usual, but once in, give a small wiggle, then the charging light may start.
Good luck & hope something works.

Sam.

Hey guys,
In answer to your question......
Yes you can purchase a non motorised head.
Reducing suction power is done on the back of the machine. Just press the button when ur vacuuming, and you'll hear the difference.
Hope I've assisted.

Hi Alikee,

As Sam has mentioned make sure you are using the machine on the normal mode and not the max mode. If this does not resolve the issue try pulling the brushbar out of the motorhead and vacuuming without the brushbar attached.
