First time build
First time building a new home, after many show homes & speaking with a few people & getting nowhere we ran into Daniel Stone, what a revelation this was, Daniel worked with us as to what we wanted & came up with a plan from 3 designs, incorporated everything we wanted with no hassles, a few changes we made along the way but nothing seemed to be a problem, from start to finish the design & build was managed with professionalism by Daniel and Fairmont, quality & cost was right on the money & would recommend Fairmont and Daniel to anyone looking to build. After build service for a few minor problems so far has been handled promptly. Very happy with our end result

First time ever build
We built for the first time with Fairmont Homes and we are loving our new home. The whole process was a very pleasent experience. Our daughter had just built with Fairmont so we decided to follow suit and went to see Daniel Stone who our daughter had dealt with. We found Daniel to be very accommodating especially as the home we had modelled our plan on was not a Fairmont Home, so Daniel worked through with us to create the home we wanted to suit our block. g to demolish our old house for the build to proceed. All the workmen and the staff at Fairmont were very helpful with any queries that we had. When we moved in there were a couple of minor adjustments that needed to be attended to and Fairmont were very quick to respond and get the right people to come out and rectify our problems. We were that happy with Fairmont and Daniel that we encouraged another friend of ours to build with Fairmont and she has since signed up with Daniel and is happy so far. I would add that there were no hidden surprises with the cost. This was explained fully right from the beginning.1 comment

First Home Owners very happy with Fairmont
We built our first home with Fairmont approx 2 years back. We found Fairmont to be very reasonable compared to other builders in the market (specially for the footing cost). Our house key was handed earlier than the deliver date. From start to end it was a smooth process with prompt updates at every stage. Highly satisfied with the quality of work as haven't had any issues so far.

We love our home!
We built our first home with Fairmont Homes and love our home so much! We have a narrow block so had to customise our plans from scratch to suit which Fairmont were happy to accommodate.
The selections process was simple and straight forward. They had a large range of options available and the included upgrade packages were great value for money! As a first home builder it would have been appreciated to have one point of contact throughout pre site and once on site. Unfortunately, that was not the case and when not even reception will pick up your calls it puts a dampener on the overall experience. Would I build again, yes. Mainly because their value for money doesnt compare to others. Next time though I would make sure everything is in email from the very beginning and I would employ a building inspector as the amount of jobs each site manager is expected to manage is unrealistic and we did have issues with service and warranty as a result.Similar opinion? initial consultation good, happy to make changes to design as much as needed. Build time and quality great.
Drawback was with communication which lead to some misunderstandings especially as a first time builder.
House came in with what we wanted in regards to size and style at the price that we were hoping to pay.

A high standard build at a low price. Thank you Fairmonts
I have now built six homes with Fairmonts and in all cases the build have been of a high standard.
Some minor defects were detected in all cases. All of these defects were remedied with concern and speed. All houses are still standing and as good as when they were initially built.
Job#11445 and #11444 are the latest build. These would be the most exceptional and are comparable in quality and extras as the up market builders.

Very Happy with our Fairmont built home!
We built our home with Fairmont approx. 3 years ago. Our build was a custom build (our own design). It came in on budget with an extraordinary amount of extras supplied at a very reasonable cost! Built 6 times and will do it again
We have built 6 times with Fairmont homes and each build has been great from planning and quotes with Peter Szolga to handover. Great value for money no other builder could come close to what Fairmont offer. The selections was easy and fun. Great selections to choose from and if wanted to upgrade then it was easy to do.
I will for sure be building again with them in the future.

Building with Fairmont
I’ve been in my new house for one month. The sales consultant in the early days was very helpful, nothing was too hard, made every effort to make changes to my floor plan. I found Fairmont to be the most affordable builder in SA. No other builder could offer me the same inclusions as Fairmont.
The selections process was enjoyable. Lots of tiles, etc included in the base price. Would have appreciated having more time to change my mind though. I think I was only given a week to make adjustments to my selections.

Lack of comms and information. Everything was delayed.
Building a new house. Everything that we should have been consulted on was avoided.
Location of water tank and AC. Information on site plan. tiling for the house. Who is the consistent contact person or site manager. Reception is a slow and painful process. Many multiple email address provided. Condescending emails when questions where asked. Traumatizing phone calls. Instead of 200$ original quote charge increased to 2000$. No sign board for construction even now. No fencing at start so dirt was dumped before project started had to pay out of pocket 500$ to remove. No advice at any time.

Newly Completed First Home
We have just completed our new home build with Fairmont Homes. We were referred to our sales consultant at Fairmont by our finance officer after another builders plans did not value up to the cost of build. The consultant listened to everything we wanted and helped us in making some decisions. The package you receive when you sign up with Fairmont is outstanding and very informative. asy to deal with and our calls were attended to with importance. The exception being that there are some slight issues in the construction administration team. While things were resolved in a way, I recommend if you are told you are getting something you didn't know you were to request the information in a written email or letter. Our site supervisor was amazing and went above and beyond with making sure things were to our standard, including attending the site himself on hand over day to make last minute touches. He also explained things in a very clear and concise way and there was never any confusion. He was very responsive to messages as we were often unable to call him which was extremely helpful. There were a few small issues we discovered on hand over day but Fairmont were all over it and got them fixed the following day with the exception of one trade who is waiting on manufacturing of an item that we are happy to wait for. The overall workmanship and quality of the home is great value for money and it's great knowing how many local trades are involved and have work because of Fairmont Homes.Similar opinion? We had a few hiccups and additional costs which is very annoying when
trying to keep to a budget but overall things flowed, [name removed] our supervisor was excellent. Build Completed
We have now been living in our new house for about a month and overall are very happy with the build quality, no issues throughout the entire build and site supervisor was great, especially in PCI walk through. We would build again with them. Only thing they can improve on is communication through build as when we built in Melbourne porter davis sent progress pics and had a web portal to update us

It was my first time building with Fairmont Homes.
I found the process reassuring and smooth. Reception at Fairmont Homes and my building supervisor were professional and quick to always get back to me.
I found my cost of the build realistic even after I choose above the standard range in selections.
I am very happy with the final build as there are only very few minor fix ups, something that would happen after every build..
I am satisfied with how the whole process went, in office and on site and would happily (and looking into) building with Fairmont Homes soon again in the future

Great value, great communication and excellent finish
the building consultant was really knowledgeable and helped a lot with the design. they kept us up to date with the steps along the way and the build was quick. Very satisfied with the end product. a couple of other builders had a similar price but one didn't even have display homes to look at and the other builders homes were not the same quality as Fairmont. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Love our new house!
The build process was quick, only nine months in total. Our site manager was on top of everything and advocated for us with external parties. The workmanship is pretty good, only some minor cosmetic issues that need addressing which is guaranteed in the first six months. Even the office staff we dealt with were prompt and helpful.

Great Build but Partnering is the Key
Our new 400 sqm home is a story that you not often hear about. The Fairmont team were great - all in the office were profesional, friendly and were genuinely great to deal with. We say this as we are perfectionists and expect high quality.
All trades (but two) delivered as we expected and some went over that expectation.
We partnered with all those on site and will recommend each trade - the exceptions were (in our opinion and to be honest) were the second fix carpenter and painter. However the rest we highly recommend.

rom the outset were communicated to Fairmont staff and they took this on board. We were on site each day of the build and this allowed for the identification of any issues which we communicated to the building supervisor (he was probably sick of us by the end) but this allowed for a reduction of rework and rectification work on hand over. We often hear of the not so pleasant building experiences (we have close links to all building trades) and it is great to share our story as it has been a good journey. BUT the key is to partner in each step of your build, never getting angry, non ambiguous communication and follow-up. This started from our design (yes we designed our home) through to the end (handover).1 comment

We signed up for our house in December 2017, having already got council pre -approval . We extended the size of a Fairmont standard design by 20 % and the price doubled with upgrades . Calls to the office were on hold for an average of 15 minutes before being answered . Our building supervisor was overseeing 80 houses at a time .This allows for 1/2 hour per house per week, while this is possible for houses in Fairmont Land developments, it is lacking for builds elsewhere .We moved into our dream home

The time frame for this varies from home to home. Some clients will complete their final builder's interview and their file will be programmed to our construction team immediately after the appointment for commencement.
Other clients will complete their interview and receive a list of items that are required to be completed before the file can progress to construction. In this case, the file will proceed to construction for commencement after the final item on the list is received. Some of these items include (but are not limited to) finance approval, land settlement, demolition of an existing home, council approval etc.

Well our final builders interview was 5 months ago and all we have so far is a slab. Now we have been told it will still take another year to build!!!! Not getting clear answers from any one. Very disappointing experience so far!!!

Hello im wondering if anyone can give me some feedback on there process as i am finding this extremely slow ?
Its been 3 weeks now since we went to a consultant with an already drawn plan and he was able to give us a quote back with a few days with absolutely everything we need included... now since then we have got absolutely nowhere i havent even had a chance to sign a contract to start to process of a soil report ?
Is this normal to always be chasing them so early on ?

Hi Amy,
It is absolutely normal with Fairmonthomes to have such a lag during sales process. I had similar experience with two of their sales person, finally i had complaint to their head office thinking to let them know of situation in ground. At that stage i had thought to leave Fairmonthomes and go ahead with some other builder in market. While researching market i found that fairmonthomes is giving reasonably good quality home and other builders in market too praise them and consider them as reference for quality. This lead me to reconsider them as my choice, in response to my complaint Fairmonthomes allocated me another consultant Mr Graham Barn who had helped me out to finalise the plan and sign agreement.
It took me around 2 weeks to finally sign the contract as i need to proof read, since after signing it is hard to change things. I got my site survey and Soiltest reports done within a week time and got my Soil report in 4 weeks time. Fairmonthomes was very quick in putting up application with council and getting the job done. In just 8 weeks after soil report i got all my approvals from council. Now i am just waiting for demolition from Royal Salvage in order to further progress in project.
Fairmonthomes is very poor in customer service, the attitude of the people it quite lame. I am keeping my figures cross for quality, that i can only say once things are done. I am hiring a independent inspector for quality of work. Hope to get good result at the end.
I would appreciate to put your feedback in product review once you sign up, this will give consumer a voice.
I think my frustration leads back to before signing up as we originally were going through a different building company had our soil tested and on a dead flat block unbelievably had a footings fee of $50,000 ! After speaking with Fairmont and a few other builders all was shocked and assured us it was way over what it should be.
So after 8 weeks of waiting we are back to square one in hopes Fairmont look after us alot better !
I will happily update my experience as the process goes on and i look forward to reading yours !

Is there any acknowledgment by Fairmonthomes for nails you mentioned in your question. What was your response when you raised it with them. Have you raised it with anyone else than supervisor.
I am asking you this as i am also in process of building with FH, sometimes it is quite scary seeing people's review, let's how things will workout at end. I had contacted Lisa in customer service from FH when i had a very poor experience with Direct interior during selection process. Although there is not visible response since 2 weeks of registering concern still i am waiting the any action.
If you have time please write review and your experience on product review. This is one of the tool for the customers to influence on long run.
