we like the look of the fridge
BUT, the doors dont close easily .We have had them out to fix it and we have been told this is normal .We have to push the doors hard for them to close, Never had a fridge like it before .If you had kids the door would be open all the time as they would have to slam it .We fine the doors are always open when we are busy or have people over, ITS A BIG DRAG we wouldnt of bought it if we had known this first

Great high quality fridge
Just received the fridge today and I am very very impressed with the quality and build, the doors and steel feel very high quality and has a nice solid thud when you close the door (similar to a well built german vehicle), shelves are very sturdy which was important as my Westinghouse fridge shelving had started to disintegrate after 8 years. The only thing this fridge lacks is an egg tray and also a nice wine rack instead of some plastic bottle moulds.

How did I manage without it.....
Brilliant functional design. Runs quietly & doors close softly. Very easy to clean & organise. Maintains temperature effortlessly. Freezer compartment comprised of 2 easy glide drawers which works so well when rationalising freezer foods. Such a luxury having iced water on tap. A very smart addition to my kitchen with easy to clean stainless steel finish.

Fantastic!
I bought this fridge just in time for having the family home for Christmas. We had both the fridge and freezer loaded and were constantly opening the doors. It maintained perfect food temperature and the door alarm was an added bonus. The two drawer freezer made access easy to frozen food and the double doors on the fridge meant that we could get wider trays of food in and out with ease. It was super quiet and a simple wipe over brought it back to new. I cant praise it enough. I have since purchased the 619litre model for our church kitchen based on my experience with this model.

Very quiet, great layout, economical to run.
This has all the useful features like a fast freeze for bottles, frost free, roller feet to make floor cleaning easier and humidity controlled fruit and vegetable bins but without the expensive frills such as ice or water dispensers. Excellent layout with french doors and easy access to drawers in freezer. I really like the slide out shelf with the fresh produce bins. The various door bins make it easy to separate sauces, condiments, dairy and other small items as well as store larger bottles, and all can be moved to suit individual re...Read more
quirements. It also came with bottle holders for storing wines on their side. One of the best features is that all the fridge shelves can be moved to different heights to reconfigure the interior in all sorts of ways. Controls are at the front at eye level and easy to see as the interior lighting is excellent. The energy rating is 3.5 stars and it is a really quiet machine. I love it!Similar opinion? Excellent Fridge!!!
This fridge is the best fridge I have ever purchased. It is very quiet and looks great. The french doors are great because they allow for a larger fridge with full width shelves within restricted spaces. The fridge and freezer compartments are well laid out. Great product at a very reasonable price!!!

Do not buy this fridge!
Bought this just before Christmas 2016 and after a couple of days it started making this weird high pitched noise, all the time, it never stopped! I could hear the thing from almost every room in the house!
After customising the temperature to moderately cool in the fridge and freezer it started "chirping", making noises like there was a family of crickets living in it. The only way to get it to stop was to turn the temperature up so far that it was barely keeping things cool. Finally had enough of the noise and arranged for a technician to co...Read more

Very noisy
From the start of purchase this 519L model has been making a strange vibrating/buzzing noise. Its extremely irritating and I would not recommend this fridge to anyone. Its just very disappointing to have to put up with this noise maker and would return it immediately if I could. The price of this fridge was not cheap so therefore I expected it to be of good quality. But not so, really makes me angry!

Update on first review
Update from first review, New Year's Eve 2016
Four requests for manager to contact us but no call.
Believe freezer door had been left open a small amount.
No alarm was activated so door left open all night causing the compressor to go crazy.
This apparently shortens the life of compressor.
Finally rang f and p after they did not reply to our emails to be told the door can stay open up to one inch without the alarm being activated.
This makes no sense as when open only a little it is not easy to see.
In their booklet it states 'freezer door left open the alarm will beep after 60 seconds' no mention must be more than one inch.
All food in freezer went sloppy and told it is my fault.
Worried about damage/life of fridge.

three calls in just over one year, no customer care.
First the door flaps on fridge failed, sounds like same problem as previous reviewer.
Next the hinge on bottom of one door fridge snapped off
Now day before new year long week end and fridge making a very loud rattle, everything in freezer gone sloppy.
Rang, no help so asked for manager, assured me she would sort it and be straight back to me, rang hour later as no return call to be told all managers had gone home. The phone then drops out? Rang third time and was simply informed a service call for 7 days time is all they can do.

Poor quality control
Unpacked new fridge and after taking packing plastic film off doors I opened the doors and found the left door would not shut again as the flap remained in the wrong position and hit the right door if it was closed. Every time the left door was closed I had to physically hold the flap in the right position so it would pass by the closed right door and had to physically locate it in it's locking slot in top of doorway.
This is such an obvious fault which should've been picked up at either some level of quality control checking or when the pers...Read more

Worst ever noisy fridge. Do not buy it
Same as another few reviews. Did research. Bought by fridge and terrible buzzing noise that is impossible to ignore. It's the worst. Technician came last year. One person tried to blame it on the fact that I had wooden floors and the other told me it was the ice tray. Either way they were useless and I still have a noisy fridge. ARGHHH

Complete Lemon.
It looks lovely. That's about the best I can say about it. The first one lasted a month and then stopped working - lights on, alarms functioning but absolutely no refrigerating happening. It took over a week to get a technician (he said "It's not working" - they get special training for that). Replacement fridge lasted less than a week before the same problem. I've now bought a cheapo bar fridge from Big W and have everything in that while I occasionally look over at the beautiful useless tart of a fridge lounging around in the corner of my kit...Read more
chen. Appliances Online have been great at pursuing Fisher & Paykel. F&P customer service have been very relaxed about the whole problem. No real sense of urgency despite explaining to them that I use the fridge to store medications, not just food. So yes, very pretty fridge. Update: the second fridge mysteriously starting working again. A technician came and said that sometimes the compressors need to "settle down". We're going along with this for now. I'll update if more happens. Aaand it lasted another 3 days. Once again I'm waiting for a technician (earliest possible is Tues 2nd August) Everyone is being very nice. It's just NOT quick or efficient and in the meantime I'm keeping things in a tiny fridge. I spoke to F&P customer service again and said I wanted a) an apology (just because it's been really stressful and no-one from F&P has said "sorry" which really bugs me b) information about what was wrong with the fridges and c) full compensation for loss of food, replacement medicines and the bar fridge I had to buy. They promised to expedite things. 5th August...Still waiting. Update: 2nd August the Technician thinks the compressor has lost its gas and it's probably something that's happened during delivery. Nyeh...what that suggests to me is 2 fridges, both with faulty/extremely delicate compressors. Appliances Online have jumped in and helped with organising a replacement including providing advice on other fridges that will suit our needs. 4th August - the new new new (Electrolux) fridge arrived. It has now worked for 24 hours. Yay! F&P are sending us $400 of Coles vouchers but not covering the cost of the bar fridge. I have passed this on to Fair Trading. Anyone want a nearly-new bar fridge? 15 August - Electrolux fridge still working like a dream. Letter from F&P "we apologise for the inconvenience that you have experienced with your Active Smart refrigerator". Singular. No mention that it was TWO of them. Also heard from Fair Trading who advised I could take this to the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal. This has taken close to 2 months to resolve (27 June to 15 August) and I'm too tired! Buy Electrolux. Buy Samsung. Buy anything but not this!! Update: 5 October. Electrolux still working very nicely thank you - some things are very cold, everything is cool. Snicker.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great Fridge and Freezer
I bought this Fridge back in January and got it delivered on 1st April 2016. it's been 3 months I've been using this fridge.
This is our first french door fridge with drawer freezer.
Pro:
- Automatic ice machine separate from fridge water dispenser which saves a lot of room in the fridge door.
- Perfect size for a couple or family of 4. I didn't leave enough room for the next model 610L french door RF622ADUSX5 since I only left 900mm for the fridge cavity when I renovated the kitchen. This fridge is quite short and would like the bigger 6...Read more

Great fridge and freezer
Pros:
After 20years our old french door fridge and freezer finally died. New one had to fit in same fridge space so ended up with the F&P. Good so far. We like the wide open shallow shelves so can easily access things. Relatively quiet compared to old fridge. Hold less but more efficient to run. Nice led lighting. Alarm when door left open which you can switch off. Retails $2799
Cons:
Have to use plumber to fit filter on to ensure still under warranty. We already had water point which you need to consider say $150-$200. Store only de...Read more

I was told by F&P to OPEN THE DOOR SLOWER to fix door scratching issue!!!
First new fridge in 20 years!
All good at first until: -
-The flap spring on the left hand door broke.
-8 technician visits (Including extra visits due to wrong parts ordered)
-two new right hand doors (left flap scratching the right hand door)
-3 new springs
-1 new flap
-Loose Freezer handle (Was tightened by technician)
AND after the technician stated 'OPEN THE DOOR SLOWER' we are NO closer to a resolution.

Noisiest fridge I have ever come across
We purchased this fridge after doing a lot of research. Our final decision was based on features, appearance, and the Fisher & Paykel brand. Price was also a consideration but not the deal breaker.
The most disappointing thing about this fridge is the NOISE. It's ridiculous. We had a lovely quiet home until this fridge arrived, and now it's just what feels like one continuous low pitched buzzing sound. Nobody can stand it, and anyone who come into our home asks about THAT NOISE, within minutes of arriving.
We had Fisher & Paykel service ...Read more
technician come out and look at it, and he changed the mount clips that mount the compressor with new ones that vibrate less. He also told me that the buzzing was "normal" and it was because of new environmental regulations forcing them to use these parts that vibrate. It buzzes for 20mins, then goes quiet for 20. Over and over. I had to resist not laughing at him, honestly. I understand that fridges can make some noises, but I have since been to the homes of many friends with perfectly quiet fridges, and I have spoken to those selling other brands fridges, and all have agreed it's a ridiculous notion that I have to accept this. The new clips made a marginal difference, however it has since returned to being as noisy as ever. I would love to upload an audio clip for people to hear it themselves. At no point during the research stage, the purchase stage, nowhere did I read or was I told how noisy this thing was. If it was a television, or some other thing which buzzed all day and night, nobody would tolerate it. I am currently in the process of pursuing whatever measures I have, through warranty or otherwise, to have this fridge changed, or to receive my money back.Similar opinion? Good Fridge, but..
One of the reasons for choosing this fridge was because it opens from the middle so you can have big trays for entertaining, but also having the fridge at eye height, rather than the freezer, which you don't use as often, made so much more sense.
The real reason for choosing this particular fridge was mostly for logistic reasons. When I moved into my new apartment there was a tap for the ice and filtered water so we chose a fridge with these options. We measured the space and bought a fridge to fit. Somehow the measurements didn't add up t...Read more
hough because cabinet handles, light switches, microwave door handles, etc. made the alleyway between the island bench and the other benches smaller than we had measured. The manufacturers will never offer it, and it can void warranties, but for a little extra Harvey Norman advised us of a service which can take the door handles, or the complete doors, off the fridge to get it into the space. (All of the storage cages in the building had French-door style fridges inside them - these were because the owners couldn't even get them through the front door! Measure twice and measure again). Some of the reviews of this fridge said it was loud and yes, it is louder than any fridge I've owned before. Not enough to have to turn the TV up or anything but it has many motorised parts, with the ice maker and other "smart" things. I don't like having to open both of the French doors to get to the fruit and veg drawers. They have separate baskets so I thought they could be accessed by just opening one fridge door, but both baskets sit on a drawer so both doors must be opened fully - what is that?Similar opinion? Better than we thought it will be
We bought this model RF522ADUSX5 to replace our old 25 years noisy fridge that was still going. The style of this 3 door fridge compliments our modern kitchen. We looked around for a quiet fridge - this was the essential criteria as our bedroom is quite close to the open planned kitchen. We have had this fridge now for a week and we really love it. It looks good, quiet, the water and ice making is great and the temperature is also good.
The surface does leave some marks which is easily cleaned.
Wish there is a basket insert in the freezer drawer - will make storage easier.
It claims to use 417 Kwh per year which is about a third of our old fridge - only time will tell.

Happy for a while till small problems..but inconvenient
Loved it for a while..then..door hinge...plasic.. dropped to floor...4 weeks later...spring from centre flap fell to floor making it difficult to close..had to manually hold flap in place. Now condensation on lower door of a morning...door seals ..very thin ones folding back and not sealing...
Motor continually o ...have to hold in place when closing. What will happen when May comes around..essentually I will have to pay for substandard parts. Other fridge 12yrs old...still working well...n see ver a problem...this one made cheaply!

ions the technician could not make it until Tues Jan 3. This seemed reasonable under the circumstances though I had the ongoing frustration of not using the left door or having to open the right door and then hold the left door flap in place and closing the left door and then closing the right door after it. I was given a window between noon and 1700 hrs for the arrival of the technician. He sent me a message saying he was on his way and arrived just after noon. He took one look at the door and took out a little spring from the flap and replaced it with another. Took about 1 minute to do the job and the door flap was fixed and operating as it should be. So, I have to say despite complaints others have made about Fisher and Paykel and about this model fridge or their service I have no complaints with the speed, attention and politeness I received from start to finish and I'm happy about that.
