Great Fridge, terrible plastic hinges
I bought my fridge from HN in Jan 2013, it has just in the last 2 weeks snapped both grey plastic locking hinge bits from bottom of doors. Although the doors still close i am worried about the temperature control, and seal of the doors now. Not such a problem for every day foods BUT i'm a type 1 diabetic and bought this fridge to safely store my insulin in. What will go next on this very expensive & vital household appliance???

Disappointed
This Fridge functions well and we use the water feature every single day. The ice is also used regularly and we love it. However this fridge is not built for durability. The door seals have come apart and the shelf clips have broken and when I ran FP they were so helpful on the phone and through an email, but after promising to send over parts that were still under warranty we to this day still haven't seen them and contact was made 8 months ago. The fridge dents so easily and particularly the top of the freezer door. My fridge that I saved for...Read more
a whole year to buy cost me $2,500.00 and I am regretting my purchase each day I look at it. I purchased from Retravision just before they went bust and closed their doors and now my warranty has been as good as useless because FP aren't any help either.Similar opinion? Noisy
I find this refrigerator excessively noisy so purchase it with caution. F&P have only been marginally helpful but the vendor has been great. That said the problem has not been satisfied to my satisfaction. I have had it about 3 months now and remain frustrated and irritated by the compressor noise.
Layout, design, function
Noisy and difficult dealing with Customer service in NZ.

Won't ever buy a F&P fridge again
We upgraded our F&P fridge 2 weeks ago. There was nothing wrong with our old one which was over 10 years old. We just liked the look of the new French door unit. After 12 hours of a cracking ice noise we opened the doors to find all the unit lights were red and the fridge was no longer working. 100's of dollars worth of frozen food spoiled. To top it off we have to wait 4 days to hear from a serviceman and live out of an esky.
The aesthetics, the space
Poor customer service, unreliable

Worst fridge ever
We bought one of these for $3000 a few years ago. It has been fixed about 6 or seven times. F17 is the fault. It ices up the fan located in the freezer compartment and the windings burn out in it and then you have to get someone around to fix it. Meanwhile all your food spoils and there goes more $$$ down the toilet. If you live where humidity exists don't even contemplate buying this fridge. I have read so many reviews from others stating the same thing. The water cooler is terribly slow and only puts out one cold glass of water. Garbage
Size, look and functionality
Breaking down. The terrible water chiller that chills about 300ml only. Slow ice maker. Sticky freezer doors.

Nice Fridge - Few Little Issues
We bought this F&P fridge about 18 months ago and has worked well since purchase.
A few niggling items that annoy though: (1) when the left hand side door closes it bumps open the right hand side door a little and the beeper goes off - cant seem to fix the problem .. it`s annoying. (2) The wine/bottle rack takes up way too much space - annoying - so we took it out and it makes the fridge whole lot bigger inside. (3) Cleaning the crisper is not easy as it has this plastic slider top and once you get it out/off its a nightmare to put back ...Read more
on...annoying. (4) Finally we hooked up the water feature - and the flow is quite dismal...annoying. Good points: (1) it looks good, (2) the ice maker and bottle chiller work well, (3) the freezer is good size and the freezer drawer is easy to pull out even when freezer is chockers, (4) the internal size is great and plenty of door storage as well. Overall I think for a price point of over $2,000 it`s a little pricey for what you get.... Rated it 7.5 to 8 /10 Good internal size in fridge and freezer compartments. Crisper Lid - once you take it off - it`s hard to get back on1 comment
This fridge is okay but the Humidity Control cover is bad. I thought it was a part of the wrapping we'd forgotten to remove. So hard to put back on after washing. I can't see that it will last long... Read more
before getting damaged. also the things sticking out from that shelf that holds that cover in place, are so easy to knock when washing in the sink. I think that they also are not sturdy and in the way, and before long they also will be knocked off. We also removed the wine bottle rack as it was a waste of space. I'd rate this fridge 3 out of 5.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Very nice stylish fridge
Only had this unit for 2 weeks but is seems to be working well and is nice looking with clean lines. The shelves are well designed and the French doors are working well after you get used to the fact that they don't auto close. Not a problem really and it takes big platters without a problem. The only thing that bothers us is that the runners for the draw are very clunky and rough, more rough than when the unit was new and not running in the store. A family member has the Panasonic with a freezer draw and it runs perfectly quietly. We had a ser...Read more
vice tech out in the first week as we thought it was out of alignment but he felt it was normal! Some times it's quite hard to open! Apart from that it's a great fridge. Nice design and good French door system seals Rough draw runners sound crunchy and not easy to open/closeSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

terrific
WE needed to replace our 18 year old noisy side by side refrigerator and looked around for many months trying to decide on a replacement. We selected the french door because it was least intrusive in our galley kitchen. the RF522ADX4 is brilliant. The design allows access to all parts of the compartment. lighting is great as is the adjustable shelving- especially for fitting in Christmas ham and pavlova. Freezer is spacious and easy to get items out of,It is also very efficient and quiet.
Design and quietness
doors need to be fully manually closed but after a week it is not even thought about

Love it!
I bought my fridge 2 years ago and love it!
It arrived from HN with a dint in the door, F&P replaced it within 2 weeks, no questions asked. It holds a weeks worth of food for 4 people (adult and teen boys who eat all the time) or an entire xmas day for up to 20!
The crisper keeps fruit and veg crisp longer than any fridge I've had in the past.
Nothing negative to say!
Large enough to keep a weeks shopping for 4 and keeps fruit & veg fresher, longer
Nothing

Nice Fridge, well built. A couple of features missing
I bought this fridge for about $2k AUD, and it's pretty nice. Great stainless steel finish (which appears to be resistant to magnet scratches), aesthetically pleasing french door design, nicely lit interior (bright & White).
The shelves on the interior doors are also pretty well spaced (and adjustable). If you open the door too fast, it can 'throw' bottles or tip them over - F&P have included a shelf divider on each of the bigger shelves to help keep bottle in place and avoid this.
The Model I bought came with four removable bottle rests...Read more
- I would have liked at least eight, as they are very useful. The internal shelves are glass, and also adjustable. The drawer freezer is also good, but an Icemaker would have been nice given the price. Also, the freezer has an internal shelf which needs to be slid out manually to access the top shelf of the freezer (where ice etc goes). It's a little annoying having to pull two drawers each time you open the freezer, I'd have liked to have seen this drawer come out automatically when you open the freezer drawer. Also, the doors don't close automatically, or even by giving them a push. The design is such that you have to push the door manually all the way until it seals. It does have an alarm to warn you if the door is open too long, but it seems like a pretty silly problem to have.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A seriously flawed product
I bought my fridge for $3800 within 6 months the hinges had rusted. I contacted Fisher and Paykel they asked me to send photos. They decided (and it is false) that a spill had caused the hinges to rust. The fridge has just blown up. It is 3 yrs old and just out of warranty. I am not going throw good money after a very bad product. I will be more than happy never to have to deal with Fisher and Paykel again. And look forward to giving Fisher and Paykel a very hard time when I give the fridge away on a classified add.

me as for Australian conditions. The doors have a system that both have to be opened to get anything out. Letting valuable cold air escape. Ice dispenser is in freezer you have to pull draw open letting valuable cold air escape. I think more suited to NZ in winter. UPDATE My review that my 3yr old fridge blew up should now include that mice have eaten the electrical circuits. Unfortunately the position of the circuit board, that is completely open, unlike most other fridges for that very reason is on the floor with the water trap right beside. The perfect little warm house for a mouse. So yet another design fault. You have to open freezer to get ice out, letting all that cold air go. The water comes out of dispenser too slowly. I prefer to use kitchen tap as you could die of thirst waiting for glass to fill from fridge. Ridiculously expensive. Fisher and Paykel were extremely poor customer service agents. I will never buy another Fisher and Paykel product again.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
5th time lucky? I doubt it
My Fisher and Paykel experience has been nothing but a horror story. I purchased a F&P fridge 2 months ago and I'm already onto my 3rd replacement which has just broken down after 3 days. The first fridge broke down after 5 weeks and F&P only came and verified that it was indeed a fault 5 days later once our food was spoiled. The next 3 replacement fridges were directly from their warehouse and had immediately visible scratches on them. On my last call with F&P the "Customer Care" person told me she recommended I get a refund because she couldn...Read more
't guarantee I would be able to get a fridge that I would be happy with!! Now the latest Fridge has broken down after 3 days!!! Its a beautiful fridge with everything we want, if it worked terrible customer service, 3 fridges delivered with scratches and marks, 2 broken down. Reliability and quality control is appalling1 comment

Fridge professionally installed. Ice being made, but zero out of the water dispenser. Have depressed dispenser for 2 mins+ to remove air, and checked hose is not kinked, and the tap turned on (note, ice being made so no problem there). Why is the water not working at all?

Not sure we're reviewing the same Fridge here - the model in this review doesn't have a water cooler in it.
