Smart Watch with a Faulty Design. Goodbye Fiibit
This watch became my everyday accessory. I worn this fitbit all day long with the purpose of being active, for instance, pushing myself to do more active activity, checking my sleep quality, paying my coffee or other stuff, and so on. However, a little silly problem always annoyed me was a wristband design or a charging connector.
The wristband looked cheap with low quality, easily broken, and way too expensive for a new spare one. I can't spend over $40 for a spare band from Fitbit so I bought a cheap one from online store. It turned out not ...Read more
too bad. Now I am having a problem when I put a watch back to a magnetic charger. It became a hassle because it doesn't recharge I have to move the connector in and out until I see the that it is charging. very very disappointing with a big price tag smart watch. Functionality was great I cannot complain because I have been on Fitbit product since 2013 (first fitbit). I am hoping the next generation of Fitbit will improve the functionality and no more poor design wristband. I would love to see better material in next gen. Edit: 01/08/2019 I have decided to return the Fitbit Ionic and say goodbye for this brand for good. I didn't do this because my angst but I have been loyal to the brand and always believed that Fitbit will be focusing on the quality of the material and design. Since I remember my very first smartwatch was fitbit Tracker, Fitbit Alta, Fitbit Charge and last one Fitbit Ionic. Now I think I am sorry to say Goodbye Fitbit forever.Purchased in January 2021 at Officeworks Online store for $397.00.

Very disappointed in quality vs price
I moved up to the Ionic after having a lot of problems with the lower range Fitbit models due to bubbling/defective bands, hoping that the more expensive build might be of better quality.
The first ionic band lasted the same length of time all the other models had (around 4-5 months), and I returned it - the store gave me a new unit as they had no bands in stock. When the second one completely bubbled out again five months later I decided I was tired of the hassle and just ordered a cheap third party band. This band lasted much longer and allo...Read more
wed me to see some long term problems with the unit itself for the first time. Over the next nine months, the screen became increasingly laggy to the point where it was difficult to swipe between app pages without accidentally opening one (which then further lagged or froze the screen), and swiping up to open the ‘today’ screen would consistently lag or freeze the device for up to ten seconds. I liked how it worked/where you accessed things like music controls and notifications initially, but each update seemed to change how you swiped or pressed to get to them, and I eventually got tired of trying to keep up and stopped using some things entirely. The app selection, while promising initially, didn’t really end up going anywhere. The ‘paywave’ feature never added my bank so I’ve never been able to actually use it (though this one is on me for not researching first!). The final straw came two months after my 12 month warranty ended, when all functions except the time, step count and heart rate stopped functioning for no apparent reason - notifications, reminders to move, alarms, 10k steps celebration, the touch screen itself all stopped functioning, making the $400 smart watch no better than the good old Fitbit Charge HR - which probably would have lasted longer! A factory reset fixed the problem... until the next morning when my alarm failed to go off once again, and I found the Ionic in exactly the same state it had been before the reset. Very disappointed. + Fitbit app is easy to use and understand, good fitness watch features - Poor build quality, not great as a smart watch for the price, most features stopped working after 14 monthsSimilar opinion? good tracker- -terrible apps
While the tracker works well and provides the workout details you want, the added selling point of personal music storage is quickly becoming a nightmare as the apps to transfer music are outdated, incompatible and cumbersome . Experience is something from the early PC days in 1990's ....
Looks like they want to push everyone to a a paid Deezer subscription, which is only thing that works but with same troublesome process

Poor wristband design
The wrist band end is secured” by a little metal peg that fits into the two parts of the band. They get lost easily and cannot be replaced cheaply. Recommend a smart watch with normal band design not an Ionic.

Very Poor Product
Was worth the money at the start but after 18 months I’m beginning to change my mind. It won’t keep its charge. After charging I have to sync it with my phone just to reset the time, it’s always restarting itself. Can’t check the time without it restarting. Useless now.

Poor quality
Had for 18months have spent more time trying to get it to work properly than actually using it. Constant syncing issues turns itself off then back on during workouts, customer care is useless just get the same advice from them every time which is the same advice as their online troubleshooting. Should never have bought would much prefer Garmin or apple instead

Works well!
It does everything it's supposed to do. Quite nice looking, feels comfortable to wear, battery life is really good, I charge it like once per week. Love the app, esp sleep track feature.

This is Perfect!
I stopped using fitbit ever since charge2, because every replacement I have, is always peeling.
I came across a decent deal on the Ionic and decided to give it a go. The battery does last almost a week.
However, the notifications vibration seems to be very soft.

Doesn't last long. Damaged easily not robust
My 11 yo son saved up for one of these and it has been replaced once already as it just stopped working. It has now just died. He was supposed to be able to swim in it, but after a pool day it coughed and spluttered and now its just dead. What a waste of a lot of money.

Save a bit more to buy a Garmin
I've had this watch for about 9 months now - very disappointing. Heart rate monitor not reading pulse when I sweat, Software update crashing and slow, constant sync issues, Automatic runs not recognised, data loss. Overall just a gadget, definitely not worth the money. I wish I'd saved a bit longer and bought myself a Garmin.

Bad experience with tracker and poor customer service. Will not buy again!
I received a Fitbit Ionic as a gift and it broke. Since it was under warranty it was replaced. Now, less than 6 months later the replacement stopped working. I spoke with a representative who said that a replacement could not be granted due to it being outside the warranty window. They offered a 25% discount toward the purchase of a new tracker. Worst customer service and terrible product. I will not spend one dollar on another fitbit that will likely break prematurely. I have lost all faith in these fitness trackers. I will spend my money elsewhere! Don't waste your money!

Great fitness tracker
The Fitbit Ionic is a leader in fitness tracking devices. The battery life can last 2 solid days, and the app is great in pushing you to achieve and exceed your fitness goals. Whilst not as stylish as a nice analogue watch, the features included in the Ionic are great for what the device was intended for.
If only it was just as easy to get motivated to getting fit/keeping up a fitness routine!

only a year and 1 month old. Piece of Junk!!!
I was given this ionic watch for my swimming training last year in March 2018. $400, shall I say..
Today at the pool the watch froze, and then it said to clock face error. This is it.. Now the interface has stopped working all together. and of course 1 year and 1 month. Warranty won't work.
I feel having been robbed by a Company who knows their products are junk but continue selling them at high price.

Horrible Syncing and Setting Up! Does not work with Android app. Windows 10 app often can't find the device
After happily using Fitbit Charge 2 for about a year, I bought an Ionic from JB HiFi a few months ago. I spent days trying to set it up and never managed to sync it with the Fitbit Andriod app in my rather new LG G7 ThinkQ phone. A the last resort, I managed the Windows 10 app in laptop to see the device, and to sync it. It worked for a while but every now and then Windows app does not sync because it simply cannot find the device. Today I have tried all sort of things including restarting the ionic, restarting the laptop, restarting blutooth, etc. but with no success. Fitbit apps are hopeless CRAP and seems to have a lot of problem with Ionic and Bluetooth. Android app does work OK with Charge 2 somehow.

Pretty Good Tracker with some annoying bugs
For a product that is as life-changing as this Fitbit, I should be giving it a perfect score. In many ways, it is great at what it does but there have been quite a few annoying quirks and problems.
The Good: Nice and bright high-resolution screen, great battery life, accurate heart rate monitor, accurate step and stair counter, choice and ease of changing bands, reasonably comfortable during the day and during sports, looks smart, can display bar codes, Fitbit Pay works great.
The Bad: Scratches easily. For something that was Gorilla Glass 3 ...Read more
and how I babied it the scratch really annoyed me. I have had to do a factory reset twice because it totally froze. After the reset that took two hours each time it worked perfectly again. The screen does not always come on when I move my hand. The actually LCD screen size is much smaller than the frame of the watch. It's visible in bright sunlight and is very annoying. Uncomfortable while sleeping. I have stopped wearing it to bed. Not always reliable. It does not always remind me every hour to walk. It's supposed to but sometimes just forgets. Fitbit does not have an Australian Customer Service Centre. Conclusion: While I have gotten a reasonably good run out of it. I have improved my fitness. I will not be replacing it with another Ionic. My next tracker will be round and have a bezel and a good battery life. It will also be able to handle payments and be rugged and comfortable. It will also be from a company that has an Australian customer service centre. Unless Fitbit can come up with something that meets my criteria I will look at either a Garmin Fenix or a Samsung Galaxy Watch.Purchased in August 2021 at JB Hifi Plenty Valley for $328.00.

Disappointing
Positives:
Good screen size and comfortable to wear as this is my second Fitbit was used to app and stats etc, basic functionality.
Negatives:
Fitbit pay does not work 9/10transactions machines in shops ask to insert/swipe card after error. Raised this with tech support other than a few requests for photos of error screens, etc. then no response/fix.
Charging cable, very sensitive, if it moves slightly while charging the contact is lost and stops charging - can take a few days.
Very bright at movies, concerts, shows - no way to lock screen ...Read more
to stop it brightly shining during a concert. Deezer music app (only one that works on it - no Spotify, etc) - resets and wipes requesting phone sync when attempting to use when away from phone - running, making the music function pointless.Purchased in November 2021.

Charging problem
Charging the Ionic was great at first, after a while the prongs wouldn’t insert into the back of watch to charge. Closer inspection I noticed dirt build up on the female grove in the charging point. I got a thin pointed knife and scraped the dirt out and all is like new again. If that’s the only fault I have with it I’m more than happy with this product. This is the second Ionic I have had, first one I exchange due to not being waterproof. Exchanged at Office Works no questions asked. Excellent

Fitbit Ionic Smart Watch Review- Burnt orange and blue colour
Hi,
this review is for the Fitbit Ionic smart watch.
I received an email from jb-hifi offering $100 off for this watch (only in the burnt orange and blue colour) from the orginal price of $298 in store. I was super excited as this was my first ever smart watch besides a smart phone. Unfortunately after less than 7 days of using I had to return it.
Here's the reason why I had to return the watch and this review is based on my thoughts in the short time of usage.

Can't update it, and it won't connect to my phone.
This is not the first time, this has happened several times.
Save your money, i have had my Ionic for a year now I have more problems with it then it is useful.
For a $400.00 watch it is an over priced paper weight just junk!!

Questions & Answers

This isnt a question, but I would like to offer a solution to those who are having trouble with syncing issues.
I was starting to recently get issues syncing, eg. "looking for device" or "device not found" and could not get sleep data for the last 2 nights.
On the phone, go to: Settings - Apps - Fitbit - Storage - Clear cache
then all of a sudden the sleep data appeared from the last 2 nights when I got back into the Fitbit App.
As a side note, I am disappointed that the phone is not smart enough to turn off the auto-on feature while sleeping. So I turned it off and never use the feature anymore. The benefit is that it now saves a significant amount of battery as it no-longer unnecessarily or accidentally turns on with each wrist movement.
