Amazing for the price

published

Pretty amazing phone for the price - I only ever used it as a second/guest phone but I was always impressed by how much you get for the money. OK sure, its no iPhone but it only cost $99 and it has a great screen, good browsing, long battery life. The camera lets it down a bit and some apps are getting no more updates but I have had good us of it and feel like I have had my money's worth.

Good phone - not enough updates

published

I was really pleased with this when i first got it. I seemed better than some low end Samsungs (j series) that I was considering. Screen is good and bright. Pretty fast browsing, works with Optus. All good but it seemed to age every rapidly due to lack of updates. I finally had to stop using it because it isn't compatible with the latest version of Uber and I need that. The battery still holds a n excellent change and everything works but it wasn't supported for very long.- I think it only ever got one update!

Very good phone for money

published

This is no iPhone or S9 but it performed very nicely indeed for me as a fill in. I didn't expect too much from a supermarket phone but technology has come along way and it did nothing to annoy me and was actually pretty great in some ways. Good side - screen (for the price) battery life call quality (including speaker) all good. Bad side - camera (not good) lack of RAM and processor power. This overall is a cheap phone that you can actually use without too many hindrances. Good value for money!

Great back up phone

published

Great back up phone but I wouldn't use it as my main daily driver. I got this as a second phone and it has put in remarkable service and been all over the country too. These day I mostly only use it for WiFi but I have used it completely on holidays. It does really well but if you are used to a flagship, you notice the colors aren't there, the resolution isn't up to scratch camera not as good etc, It remarkably good for the price however and I feel that I have definitely had my money's worth

Used this solidly for a year

published

This was cheap to buy and actually performed far better than I ever expected. It was my second phone for over a year and got constantly used in that role. It made an excellent wifi hotspot when I didn't use it as a phone too. Screen was quite adequate, browsing was fine audio good too. I eventually stopped using it because certain apps could no longer be updated but that's it the android version, not the phone itself. Good little phone!

Pretty good phone!!! Pretty cheap price!!!

published

I bought this phone about a year ago and it's been great. It was only $99 on sale, new and unlocked - bargain! Does everything I need it to do. It's pretty sturdy too, it has been thrown around a bit. The screen cracked once when i dropped it on the road but these things happen! Really happy with this phone, I just use it for a few apps plus internet, calls, photos and picture messages and it works great.

Lots Of Bang For The Buck

published

I have come to rely on this more and more in time. When I first got it I was dubious about the brand but it has proven itself to be a reliable and worthy phone. The screen is absolutely great. There is enough "guts" IE processor power and RAM to do everything I need to do without choking and the battery holds up very fairly too. These Huawei phones are good and I would definitely choose this brand again.

Great for the price!

published

Never misses a beat! It's great value for what it does. Great features and long battery life. We lost our other phone and are now using the Huawei daily. No problems at all and great reception. I would highly recommend this phone if you're looking to buy in the lower market price.

Nice phone and great value

published

This is a great 2nd phone that I bought as the battery in my 'main' phone was becoming unreliable. It has more options that my other phone, and navigation is super easy. I use it for email, web browsing and apps like waze, netflix, iview etc. It has never let me down. The camera is OK but not as good as some of the top notch phones, but you can't have it all.

great

published

i like this phone because the price is very cheap and it has great features . I doesnt freeze as well and it is easy to use. I bought this one for my husband and he likes it as well. Battery charging time is excellent. The size of the screen is not too big and you can adjust the brightness which is perfect for my eyes.

Excellent Value Basic Phone

published

This makes an excellent kids phone or temporary phone but I wouldn't want it for daily use however. It was on special for $99. The basic quality is good, the screen is nice and colourful, brightness is good and generally browsing is OK though and you notice choke ups when RAM hungry apps open. Battery life is very good and and calls are nice and clear. Camera seem fine its not exceptional but not bad either It is a good phone and great value.

Good Value

published

I was looking for a low cost phone that I could use for email and minimal web browsing. For this it is very effective. I have recently started using it as a tethered modem with my laptop and was surprised how good it was. No bottlenecks on download speeds and no hassle whatsoever. The build quality is fairly robust. I do find it a bit slow sometimes and wouldn't recommend it for cpu intensive tasks.

Great for the price.

published

Hi, I've recently acquired a new Y5, after and easy setup and installing a 128gig microSD card.I've had a great experience so far and love the interface. The camera works well and takes great pics. The inbuilt phone optimization manager is really cool and seems to keep the phone running really well. The only thing I've noticed lagging is the GPS, it seems to run slowly when I'm in google maps. Otherwise a great phone for the money.

Good Enough Screen Bit Slow

published

Screen on this model is really good and vibrant for the price. Battery life and build quality are both good. When you run a few apps together or resource hungry ones like Maps, that's when things slow down. When I say slow down I mean you will be waiting and waiting so it can be frustrating to use. It's certainly a good enough phone for the money but it has limitations.

Feels slow

published

I bought a 16Gb one from target. It's really a slow phone. Bought it for 200$ but I mean there are better phone out there on that price than this turtle. Processor is really slow...pauses sometime....cannot read Wi-Fi sometimes. Camera is not good simply because the pictures it takes are always slightly blurry. Simply phone is too slow. Do not buy. I'm actually considering for a return, recently it's not reading WiFi.

Shocker

published

Was advised that these were a good brand of phone. My partner loved hers, so i bought 1, albeit a different model. The phone would freeze all of a sudden, you couldn't turn it off, so i had to take the battery out. I took it back to the place of purchase, and paid the extra money for a Samsung.

Not a bad phone

published

This phone is not bad, althoughI wish it had a bigger display and a slightly longer battery life. Alghough it lasts the whole day, sometimes it would run out before bedtime. Perhaps I need to find a compatible charging case. Never the less what you would expect from a typical andriod phone.

Great phone

published

The packaging of the Huawei Y5 2017 (henceforth to be known as the Y5), comes in a fairly plain box which is reminiscent of the GR5 2017 box from earlier this year. The phone itself is most definitely marketed at the low end range of the smartphone market so nothing fancy should be expected.
The box includes the standard charger, microUSB cable, earphones and of course the phone. Nothing special but for a sub-$200 phone it is important that the buyer knows that they are still getting all the standard inclusions and nothing is left out.

Great budget phone

published

For the price its definitely a great budget phone for social media, light gaming, browsing the internet and watching youtube. Battery life would last around 2 days with around 3 hours use each day. Screen quality is good. Phone runs smoothly. I got the Vodafone model from Coles and it doesn't have dual sim.

When I add a page to my homescreen, it puts a little icon in the right bottom corner of the big icon, showing the chrome logo, or where ever I'm adding it from, if that makes sense. How do I remove that small icon? It's annoying and ruins the "look" of my screen. Thanks in advance.

I had a similar problem with my phone. In the end I gave up. The phone is a piece of junk. I have given it away and replaced it with a refurbished Samsung S7. No more problems

Don't blame ya! I had a Samsung s5 before this, that met an unfortunate end, and it was the best phone I've ever had. Would of bought another if I could of found one. This phone has/does so many stupid unnecessary issues.

All I can suggest is, press the 3 little dots in the top right hand corner of your screen, see if there is a way to change it or maybe just take it into whatever phone company your with and ask them if they can help you
