Cheap, fragile products in general
I have found most things I have bought from Jaycar to be cheaply made, easily damaged and broken. This latest drone I bought for $99 lasted under an hour and a motor just stopped operating. Upon inspection, it was always going to break somewhere. In general it is cheap plastic that looks good. This sort of thing has happened with clocks, a remote control buggy and a couple of younger kids toys we have bought. The stuff they sell is not designed to last very long.

Personal service
What sets Jaycar Shellharbour apart is the in store personal service. They helped me find the cable adapter and even fitted it for me for no additional charge. Would any other electrical store do that? Outstanding service!

Very dissatisfied
Biggera Waters
Returned a Digitech radio along with receipt, packaging and within the warranty period.
An obvious manufacturing fault/issue as this was the (second radio, same model) we had purchased, both with the same problem - panel at rear covering batteries, clips snap off, therefore batteries fall out!
Management from both Digitech and Jaycar we’re not interested.
Never again will we make a purchase from this conpany not to mention a DIGITECH RADIO.
Beware.

Awful quality product.
I bought a set of multimeter leads for $16. The plugs didn't fit properly so I replaced them with 4mm banana plugs.
The cable is kinked permanently and not flexible so they are difficult to use.
Then the first time I went to use the leads, the lead fell out of the end of the probe.
When I take a better look at the leads, the probes are the cheapest, nastiest plastic and definitely not covered by any kind of safety rating.
I approached Jaycar and after a couple of prompts, they finally got back to me saying that 'I would've recommended you to buy [some other set of leads]'. A refund is also out of the question apparently.

The worst customer service ever.
I rang Jaycar Electronics Gepps Cross SA store around 4 pm. I spoke with Chris, I asked him if he can assist me to find a suitable NVR to my ip Cameras. He said that I need to call JBHIFI or Harvey Norman for Virtual Reality products. I said hang on! I was talking about ip Cameras and NVR not about VR thing, he said stop swearing at me!! then hanged up on me. I rang again and talked to Chris again, I requested to put me on his supervisor, his supervisor's name is Rodney, Rodney didn't say his name but his first words were "what are you after?" I said are you Rodney? He said yes, I said I want to talk to you bout Chris. He said Chris is on the phone what are after?
Are you kidding me? Looks like these guys are having a hard time.

Bendigo store is excellent
I often purchase items from the Jaycar store in Bendigo. The store is always very clean and the staff are always very helpful.
The store is well organised so finding things is always easy.
I have purchased a lot of items from this store including headphones, ear buds, radio, cb radio, antennas, memory cards, thumb drives, torches, electrical cords, ... the list goes on and on and on. I will continue to shop there.

When Officeworks can't help you.
Branch - Kew East
There has been a couple of times recently where I have had trouble finding what I consider to be simple things at Officeworks. (I go the Kew East Branch and I have always found them very polite and helpful.) They always suggest I go to Jaycar, which is right next door.
Having done this a number of times now, I've found that this is a wonderful resource for cables, WiFi Antennas, etc.
Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and the service has been quick.
I recommend them for when you can't find what you need.
Products are high quality. Prices seems to be reasonable. The 'you get what you pay for' adage applies here.

Ordered online the received email saying not in stock
I ordered an item through their online store to pick up when I was in the area. A few hours later I received an email from the store saying that due to a stock counting issue they didn't have the item in stock and wouldn't be getting it back in. I was offered the option of going in for an in store refund, or to come in and they would find me something else. Since my local store is about 40km away I started a PayPal dispute on the transaction. They did nothing on their end to facilitate this so it was ruled in my favour because they couldn't be bothered to respond. This meant I had to wait a month to get my money back because they can't be bothered to count their stock properly, or bother to respond to the PayPal dispute.

We got it home plugged it in and it was sparking and shorting. We rang the store and informed them of the issue. And were told that we could get a refund.

Jaycar Jaycoins - Loyalty Card - rip-off...
Purchased Solar panels and a battery box from Jaycar Strathpine Qld, back in July 2018.
At the checkout at the Strathpine store the Store Rep told me I had now qualified for a $25 Jaycoins card and should receive it within 2-3 weeks. Having spent quite a sum of money over the previous months to year plus, I was quite pleased.
I waited the 2-3 weeks, then forgot until probably 2 months had elapsed, then started to chase Jaycar up. I called the Jaycar Strathpine store and was told to talk to head office in Sydney, asking for 'Customer Servic...Read more
e' Some of my call records show I called Jaycar on several occasions, 25 Sept, 15th Oct, 19th Oct and 22nd Oct, and finally 29th October. Other call logs have been cleared, using different voip services to call from. I mostly spoke with Xena in customer (Joke) service... explaining everything to her, and that I had not received the 'Jaycoins' card. She advised me they had a few people away and that she'd send an email off to the appropriate person, and call me back within a week... Yep, you guessed it, no return call, so I called her after the week, she says she hadn't heard back and would follow it up, and call me back asap...Similar opinion? Crappie selfie stick
Yes I agree with a lot of other people. Staff treat you like idiots. Had a selfie stick which failed after 2 weeks could not find receipt went in to store don’t sell them anymore they were last sold in junk bins for $5 I paid $15, and assistant said you only have 7 days to return. What? It’s all junk better to go to eBay

Buy it from eBay if you can
Bought electric screwdriver from Jaycar Melbourne. Failed after 6 months. Warranty is only 3 months according to https://www.jaycar.com.au/trading . Of course refund refused, as according to manager product could not be expected to last that long with constant use. Expected better. Good example of company not standing behind the products they sell, and not caring about customer goodwill and brand reputation

Poor quality and customer service
I try and avoid Jaycar whenever I can because the quality of the components they sell is poor for the most part but, even worse, is variable. For example I purchased sometime ago WB-2010 RG58U coax cable for wiring a marine VHF antenna on a boat. I ran it with great difficulty through the innards of the vessel and sometime later went to connect it to the antenna. I was astonished at the cheapness of the wire once I pared back the insulation. In a nutshell, it wasn't fit for it's intended purpose in my opinion. Untinned solid copper centre condu...Read more
ctor and aluminium foil with sparse untinned fine copper strands for the shield. This is for a product that is commonly used for marine transceivers (and mentioned as such in the Jaycar catalog)! I went back to Jaycar and purchased RG58C/U (WB-2012 recommended by Jaycar for hopelessly obsolete coax networking cable, with no mention of other uses - of which my application is one) better suited to the task. This cable has braided tinned copper for the shield and multi strand tinned copper for the conductor. It was still painful, though, to have to rip out all the original cable and replace it with (hopefully) a better product. I've also experienced major issues over the years with insulated crimp connectors being unreliable due to softness of the material they are constructed from. Honestly, it's like Russian roulette to buy some components from these guys. No way would I buy online from them. I'd prefer to take my chances with Asian sellers at half the price or less on Ebay. Now normally, I wouldn't write a bad review based on the above alone, because caveat emptor. But I had a very poor customer service experience recently where I purchased a number of components including an item worth less than three dollars. Long story short, the item was missing from the bag when I unpacked it so I called within 10 minutes of the purchase and had arranged to stop over the next day to pick up a replacement only to be told when I arrived to pick it up that I had to pay for the item all over again. Normally this would be fine, BUT the staff member was extremely rude when I explained that I had already arranged yesterday for the replacement. To add a cherry on top, they then attempted to charge me $5 for the replacement item. When I asked them to call (on the phone) the manager (who packed my bag) he too refused to offer a replacement. At that point I expressed my displeasure with their customer service in firm terms and was basically kicked out of the store. Note to Jaycar management: If you want to sell variable and dubious quality components purchased from whoever was the cheapest at the time of this month's stock order and then charge a premium at the checkout at least value add with decent customer service and support. It's an embarrassment that a petty dispute over something that most likely cost your company less than a dollar was handled so poorly.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Online purchase
Purchased online on a Sunday night. Paid the $16 for 2-3 day delivery to the country. 4 days on, no notification of dispatch and no delivery. They have the hide to charge for 2-3 day express and then blame the courier when you call, because they don't answer emails. They don't offer the refund on the failure to deliver on time. If you must get it from Jaycar, go into the Jaycar shop. But I have had much better experiences with Radio Spares online so I will stick with them when I can.

Great product range but lazy, uninterested staff Caloundra store.
I have been to the Caloundra Jaycar store about 20 or 30 times over the last 12 months to purchase small electronic components.
The product range is great and everything I want is always in stock, without fail.
Unfortunately, despite having shopped there so many times none of the staff even acknowledge me as a regular customer. In fact they don't even speak unless they are asked a question which I find very odd.
They rarely ask if they can offer assistance, unlike the Maroochydore shop, who are usually keen to help.

Excellent client service. Staff went out of their way to assist.
. Excellent
. Found what I was looking for at Jaycar - after going to many phone outlets at North Lakes that did not stock the product.
. Will certainly visit Jaycar in the future.
