Terrible service centre
The welshpool john hughes service centre is TERRIBLE. Such bad service. We have to go back there for warranty unfortunately, and everytime theres an issue with the car the service managers make it seem as if its inconvenience for them. They have no sense of urgency and on both occasions my car has been retained for 1 week + when it really is just a 1-2 day job. I will never ever purchase a vehicle from John Hughes ever again, i highly recommend everyone never to service or purchase a car from here. Service managers are unpolite and do not care....Read more
Seems to be miscommunication between all their staff, as we speak to someone different each time in different departments and no one takes notes on our car so each time, the same problems has to be explained each time and argued for each time. Waste of time and money! Please avoid for your own sakes!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

It's unpleasant experience but good at the end
It's not a good experience at the beginning, such as:
- wheel alignment should have been done before releasing the car. As well as thoroughly checking the vehicle.
- it turned out the rear shock absorber was leaking too.
But the manager was helpful and sorted out the problem asap.
Purchased 2016 honda jazz done 44000 km.

VERY HAPPY WITH TRADE-IN PRICE AND MY NEW i30
I wanted to trade in my old i30 on a new i30 active at John Hughes Hyundai, Victoria Park. I was very happy with the price they offered for my old i30 (which has been excellent), and the new i30 Active is fantastic with lots of new standard features such as rear reversing camera and satnav. Also very happy with the professional, courteous service I received from the salespeople. 10/10 from me.

Cash buyers beware, they wont negotiate on price.
Dont bother trying to negotiate the price down to ANY EXTENT unless you have a trade in and/or are willing to take out dealer financing.
Their used vehicles of any substantial quality are hideously over priced and the sales people wont budge on price AT ALL.
Unbelieveable.
They are obviously doing too well to bother making sales by negotiation or they just dont take people seriously enough.
Usual b/s salesperson excuses like the margins aren't there etc. Waste of time. At the end of the day once all the polite niceties and the smoke and haze clears, they are all the same.
I'd rather never speak to a sales rep and go through a broker to buy brand new.

Bad Bad Bad experience
I went to buy a Second hand vehicle at Victoria Park location and I had a terrible experience.
Firstly I went on Wednesday morning to check the vehicle which was meant to be for my partner, I liked it and so I got an appointment for the same night to check the vehicle again with her.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t attend the appointment so we moved it to the Saturday morning appointment at 8.30 as dealer suggested.
Then just before to leave home to finally go and purchase the vehicle I texted the dealer to double check his availability and the answ...Read more

Very Dodgy services! And bad experience.
I paid $3000 to the elite cover when bought the car. They didn’t want to cover oxygen sensor that cost $615. Never again. I hope that no one would get this warranty again.

Deceptive and poor service, don't trust
Helping my mum buy a Golf highline, she wants leather seats. Have done a lot of research to help her understand what is good price guide and she has checked a few Volkswagen dealers. She goes to John Hughes and is told what appears to be a great deal, cheapest price so far. However we go to sign contract and the price on contract doesn't quite add up to price we got verbally driveaway, was about $1800 more and not stamp duty related. When we asked why the difference, the salesman tried telling us that it's standard process to list all these ext...Read more
ra charges that aren't normally included in the driveaway price. We were concerned and decided not to sign just because we felt like they were being deceptive and trying to swindle more from us. I explained that other car contracts I've signed didn't look similar. We walked away there and then to go back to another dealer. Then a few days later my mum got another call from John Hughes saying they could be a bit sharper on the pricing and if we willing to sign quickly, they had immediate stock for delivery of the car she wanted in the colour she was chasing. Previously we may have had to wait for a few weeks. She was keen on this and so we went back to them although I was little sceptical all for good reason it seems. Whilst their pricing was cheaper by a few hundred more dollars and they were willing to give away some free accessories, they still wouldn't honour their original verbal driveaway price by almost $1000. I think they thought if they coaxed us into the dealership, my mum would agree after being too tired to shop around. They claim to be "WA's most trusted dealer" which is crap, John Hughes just another shark in the industry.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Price gouging
Purchased the car through John Hughes (plus full insurance) and brought it in for it's first service. They charged me $802 for replacing the filter and Fuel System Service. The first 6 month service! What a joke.

Terrible experience from start to finish
I originally took my car in to get fixed in January. John Hughes service centre told me I needed a specific part that they would order in for me. They kept contacting me stating the part for my car had come in however when I called back to book it in to get fixed I was told no-one had called me, despite having obvious call records and knowing the name of the person who called. We finally received a book in date to get the car fixed and it was fixed yesterday. Customer service was terrible - the woman on reception was so rude - told me she ...Read more
is unable to handle the key (however it was fine for her to do so when i went to pick up my car in the afternoon!). I am surprised this kind of service goes on and that it took several months to get a brand new car fixed. We tried this service centre because our normal one was closed over Xmas when i wanted to book it in so took a chance. Never againSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great price, great service
After looking to free up cash, my partner and I decided we would only need the 1 car between us. I shopped around my 2016 Nissan Qashqai TI. After visiting numerous dealerships and auction yards, i got my car evaluated by John Hughes. No nonsense or pushy salesman, just an upfront and honest appraisal. They beat the next best quote I had received and the car was sold in 10-15 minutes. If you are looking to offload a vehicle via a dealership or car buyer, John Hughes would be my first stop in the future.

Lazy salesperson not happy with me shopping around for best price.
Went into JH Mitsubishi to get a competitive quote. They weren't happy that I has already visited 2 other dealers. Salesperson was only prepared to give me his best quote if I was to be signing immediately. Later said he would e-mail me his quote. Still waiting...... Are your prices really that bad JHM that you try to bully the customers? Best to give these lazy salespeople a wide berth or be prepared to walk out to find another deal and don't let them waste your time.

Terrible service and experience
Had a car for five years brought brand new for 12000. Returned to trade, and was told 500.00 Worth to trade it back in. Car only did 65,000km. What false advertising, as when I initially brought it was told one of the best cars and that it was good quality. Within three years warranty issues started to arise. Would never do back to John Hughes. Prefer DVg over them. Learnt something new after a horrible experience. Very disgusted and inhumane.

Fantastic Customer Service
My son was looking to buy his first car and wanted a VW Golf. We looked privately and saw one at John Hughes Victoria Park.
I have always been a bit sceptical of used car dealers, but I have been absolutely impressed by the experience. The sales person and his manager were extremely professional and non-pushy. After we bought the car the sales person gave us a couple of follow up calls to ensure there were no issues.
About 2 months after we bought it the engine light came on. We took it back in and they identified a fault with the manif...Read more
old. They ordered a new one and replaced it without any fuss. He had it serviced about a month after the warranty expired. When he collected it they said that they had identified an oil leak, and quoted close to $1000 to fix it. I called the Service Manager and said that I felt the oil leak should have been identified before the car was sold and asked if there was anything that could be done - recognising that it was out of warranty. Without any further discussion the manager said that he felt it their responsibility to repair it. He called me later the same day and advised that the parts had been ordered and scheduled for it to be repaired the following week. I was pleasantly shocked. Whenever I have visited the showroom or repair centre the staff are extremely friendly and their customer service is second to none. I could not be more complimentary about the service that we received. I would certainly buy my next car from themSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Not a satisfying sales experience
The initial experience was very good - post signing on the bottom line the car sales person did not respond to any contact, did not provide transfer papers, did not provide rego papers - customer service was non existent.
It is interesting to note that the John Hughes website is impenetrable - no email addresses and no complaint mechanism - heavily sanitised and protected - it was very difficult to contact anyone. This is poor for a business that promotes themselves as an icon of quality assurance.
Bottom line, I am dissatisfied with the...Read more

would not buy
Had experience with this mob when buying a new car when I took it back as it was not
really the type of car I needed the money they offered me was appalling.
Goes to show they don't offer at least 90% of the value even if bought less than 1 year old.
Never been back but I see it when I drive pass but many friends of mine have had different problems with
this John Huges Mob.
From the 80's to the 2000's you'd think things would change but the same.
Even now had a close friend of mine who bought a dud near new all looking good but underneat...Read more

Why you still can't trust a used car dealer
We bought a 2017 I40 wagon with just over 10000 k;s - put on it by the first registered owner - Hyundai Australia in Melbourne. So yes still smelled like a "new car ".
A test drive and look at tyres showed it needed a wheel alignment - done at out request ( i.e. not picked up by their service dept ) ok, deal done - we are delivered the car and given ONE key. Curious? thinking just an oversight we asked the sales guy [name removed] who said - "no - thats all there is". Not happy with that I insisted he find out where the second key is - seei...Read more

Overprices second hands and bad delivered cars.
John Hughes is the reason why I will never go to a dealer again. Rather buy a lemon of Gumtree. The car we wanted to trade in they offer the least amount of money for even less then the offers you get blind of the internet. The car we bought had two tyres on there that where from 2001!! And the recall on the cars they don't check. The second hand we bought is at least $3000 less worth as they let you believe. So NO don't buy here because they advertise a lot that they are the best and give you the best deals. THEY HAVE THE WORST DEALS!!!!!

I have to up date this review, we spoke to John Hughes (Perth) directly, he agreed we were treated unfairly. He agreed to cover the cost of providing us with the spare key.
