I bought Mitsubishi L4 Grande about three weeks ago. It has lots of water droplets on the roof and back wall. Is it normal for this fridge?

What is the production date of your fridge?

Hi Sally,

We have not had this issue at all in 4weeks of use.

Thanks Raj and Steve. I don't know the production date.
Before this fridge I had lg and never had this problem. I would say it a problem because all the food that touch the back wall gets wet.
Moreover the fridge temperature stays more than 5. Specially when I put the groceries in it takes hours to cool down. Even when I use the rapid cool function.
I want to know if I select from the thermostat temp 1 should it be 1 degrees inside because my fridge temp has never gone that low. Normally during the day it stays more than 8.

Can the L4 Grande ice maker be removed? I don't need that part and would prefer to use the extra freezer space.

You can remove the the ice tray swirly things (so you can refill them with water), but unless you remove the ice drawer I'm not sure just removing the trays gives you that much more space -- unless that's what you meant.

Does the L4 Grande need reticulated water for the ice maker?

The ice cube thing is a structure of three ice cube trays that you take out and fill up on the sink. There's no plumbing. Once the ice cubes are made you can swivel the trays and that empties the ice cubes into the ice cube drawer below.

No it doesn't. this is one of the reasons we bought it.As Banjo said it has 3 swivel ice trays and a good size tray to tip into.

L4 Glass Grande MR-L710EG (3 Stars)

Hi, we purchased our new L4 Grande and had it delivered Monday and so far we love it. I have two questions.
1. I'm wondering why the temperature display doesn't display the actual fridge temperature. I have found it difficult to know when the fridge is cold enough or at the set temperature. I have a thermometer but it won't drop below 8 degrees, although the contents feel quite cold. What can you suggest?
2. Is there any way to remove scratches on the surface of the front doors. Ours is black. Unfortunately my son decided to transfer magnets from our other fridge unbeknown to myself and has scraped a magnet accross the front leaving a lovely swirly scratch. I've tried a wet cloth and microfibre and it won't come off. As you can imagine, I'm quite disappointed and hoping you may have an answer for me.
Thanks
Vanessa

Hi Nathan, I found the answer to my question and yours at /p/mitsubishi-mr-l710e-l4-grande.html where K Sandy of Auckland posted,
"At delivery had to take the door handles off (easy unscrew with cordless drill) due to narrow house entrance, but that was only a minor issue as i had to have this fridge no matter what. With the handles off it was 764mm, doorway was 780mm, no problem."

We bought the fridge last Thursday and worrying about getting it in the house cost me some sleep last night. Fridge arrived today Saturday and with help from number one son we had to remove my house front door and screen door plus the four fridge doors. Probably and hour all up to take off and refit. Fridge is in and wife and I are loving it already.

Store removed door handles to fit through our door. I had to remove door trims also. Asked about removing doors and store said that would be troublesome because of the electricals from doors to main body of fridge.

Can anyone tell me why our fridge won't really cool down? We have it set on 1 degree and yet it struggles to maintain anything under 5 degrees, this is a bit frustrating as we love the fridge. We are in Victoria, this has been like this since new, we have space around, behind and above for ventilation.

I have the same problem, I have applied there -2 degree offset as they told me, had the service bloke out and they told me there was no problem .
I think there is a fault in these fridges the cut back in temp is to high food is going off quicker temperature is 60% of the time above 5 degrees when you use the fridge.
I have worked out how to use the fridge.
Leave the door shut and don't put anything warm in it and it works great!

i worked out that if i turn it off, put it outside turn it round 3 times, then put my 10 year old bar fridge in the kitchen and use that it works just fine

I have a question to people that have purchased this fridge - We have a maximum space of 980mm width and 700 mm depth (we don't mind if the fridge comes out a little), the height is not a problem - will the fridge fit in that space??

1 answer
Mitsubishi Electric
Support C.Mitsubishi Electric

Hi Jewan,

This fridge requires 30 mm space on both left and right side, 100 mm at the top and 60 mm at the back. Therefore, the minimum cavity size required to install this fridge, as per the user manual is 1010 mm wide, 1920 mm high, and 880 mm deep (with handle and electrical cable).

As an alternative, you might like to consider our other multi-drawer models. The MR-EX655W for example, requires a minimum installation space of 785 mm wide and 1921 mm high.

Hi Francis,

The main difference is that the new model with a "G" in it now use inverter technology, and has improved energy efficiency. The energy Star Rating has improved from 2.5 to 3 stars and power consumption has decreased from 645 to 540 kWh per year.

Will there be a smaller version of this L4 Grande fridge in the near future? I love this type of fridge but my fridge recess width is 1000mm and there is a long wall on the right side of the fridge. won't be able to open the right side door fully.

since the width of the fridge is 950mm, only left 50mm which is 5cm (not much at all), the right side fridge door will definitely give me problem if i want to take out the right side drawers fully for cleaning purposes. :(

Our L4 is next to a wall too (on the left side as you are looking at it) and I was concerned as to whether the doors be able to be opened properly and still be able to slide all the drawers on the left hand side of the fridge and freezer out properly. I am happy to report we don't have any problems.

The handles are slightly recessed so stick out less than you think so the doors can easily be opened at a right angle which leaves room for the drawers to move in an out. Most of the drawer movement in the fridge is actually in the fridge itself as they are set quite a way back due to the depth of the shelves on the inside of the door. The freezer drawers can move out ok too. As long as you can open them a degree or two more than a right angle you are ok (our 5cm gap on the left enables it to do that).

We have installed a door stop on the wall though to make sure that the door handle doesn't hit the wall on the freezer when it is opened (just on the skirting board). I looked at a lot of fridges and there were very few that enabled such a tight ability to open. Lots of others you had to open way past a right angle to be able to pull out the drawers.

Hi Bambi, fridge depth is 82.4 cm plus about another 50cm with the widest size door open at 90 degrees.. So if you have a narrow kitchen you will need 132.4 cm total depth before the doors touch anything.

Hi,
I was hoping to find out how much space this fridge needs for air circulation at the sides and back. We are building a house and the fridge niche is approx 98cm wide, 70cm deep and approx 1.9m high. This enough clearance for this fridge? Does it "breathe" from the front or the back?

Thanx!

"Install the refrigerator at: a place with at least 3cm of space beside the left and right of the refrigerator, 10cm of space from the top and 6cm from the back." This is from the User Manual above.

Be sure to buy the new model (EG) with the inverter for more precise temperature control.

K. Sandy
K. Sandy

Dimensions are: Width 950mm, Height 1820mm, Depth 764mm.

Your fridge space will need to be as minimum: 101 cm wide, 192 cm high and regarding the depth most fridges protrude past the cabinets anyway unless you go for completely flush look. If flush, then you will need minimum 82.4 cm deep. If not flush fridge will protrude by 12.4 cm, which is reasonable. Hope this helps.

Is there an inverter in the MR-L78E?

1 answer
K. Sandy
K. Sandy

There is no inverter in this model. The new model EG has the inverter.

In an “on” “off” cycle of a regular refrigerator, inside temperature varies throughout. But in case of inverter technology, temperature is more stable. The amount of noise made by the refrigerator is much less in refrigerators with inverter technology as compared to the regular ones. Energy or electricity consumption is also much less when the temperature stabilizes.

I just want to know if can remove door handles from L4 Grande? i can see small black plastic clips just below bottom of the handles base afraid if force open might broke off the plastic.I have contact staff from Mitsubishi said not recommend to remove doors or handles, what K.Sandy said can remove it,not sure if she did her own and any damages to clip covers for screws.

I was shown how to remove the handles by the staff at 2nds World Auburn. Use your finger nail to take the screw covers off, they are the black plastic part at the base of the handles ...they are a clip. The easiest way to take the clip off is to put your finger nail in the groove and the clip will pop out...then remove the screws...too easy.

K. Sandy
K. Sandy

Also, when you locate the thin groove on the black plastic, the smaller side will pop out to the side. As an example, open the left door put your finger nail in the groove with downward pressure and the clip will come out to the right. The larger plastic part will not move only the clip will pop out.As mentioned the clip is on the thin side of the groove. The groove is actually seperating the non removable part from the removable part which is the clip.

tony
tony

Thanks for replying back K. Sandy, I do understand that need to undo clips where is grooves but main concern is the clips can snap off(pins broke off) looks too thin.
