L4 Glass Grande 710L French Door

I have a MRL710ESTA Mitsubishi electric fridge and the little bracket holding the ice tray broke then the plastic broke between the ice trays, so now it’s in the bin and we have no triple ice tray. How do I get a replacement ice tray? We did get a 5 yr warranty which it is still under, from Harvey Norman but not sure if this is part of it

As long at the damage was done in the course of using the fridge normally and not through rough handling etc... then you should be entitled to a manufacturers warranty claim. Harvey Norman are very good with honouring warranties.
Take pictures and any broken parts to a Harvey Norman store along with your receipt and they should be able to assist.

Good morning,
Please contact our spare parts department on 1300 651 808 for a replacement triple ice tray.

....hopefully you managed to get the part replaced under warranty. As an aside, if anything does break don't immediately throw it away as the manufacturer may want to see it to work out what happened so perhaps they can update future products. Also just FYI before getting our new fridge, I discovered "Selleys All Plastic Fix Primer And Adhesive" - brilliant product which I use to fix all sorts of broken bits of plastic and it helped keep our old fridge running. Use the primer to paint the two sides of the plastic to be joined, then a small amount of glue, join the bits together and then it sets really hard really quickly.....

Hi, this question was asked but was not answered so i am reposting. sorry :)
1) with the 710 model, it specifies that the depth is 820mm. Can someone tell me what is the dimension of the fridge door itself so that i can estimate if it will hit my bench when it is opened ?

2) what is the minimum depth space i need between my bench and fridge compartment in order for the fridge to be able to slide in

Hi, I'm looking at buying either the 650 or the 710 model. Both specify the width as 950mm. Can someone tell me how much space you need to open both doors so that the drawers can be pulled out? I'm assuming it's more than 950mm.
Thanks

Check here for dimensions: http://www.mitsubishielectric.com.au/assets/LEG/MR-L710EG-installation-space-required.gif
The only difference between the two models is the larger one has more fridge space ie effectively it has one more shelf inside. The door width (so the amount of space required for clearance) would be the same. If you have the height (you need a minimum of 10cm clearance above the fridge to allow for cooling - less than that and you'd risk the fridge overheating so being noisy and possibly voiding the warranty) then I'd recommend going the 710 for that extra shelf. Otherwise they are exactly the same.

Where is this fridge made?

The L4 Grande fridge was made in Japan. It also has en excellent Japanese motor designed for Australian conditions. We live in the tropics where its hot and sweaty during the summer and the fridge handled the heat conditions easily.
The main fridge remained at 4 - 6 degrees while the freezer stayed about -19 to -20 all the time.
Best wishes

Hi Darb. Thanks for your reply. We made the decision to purchase the fridge and we are very happy with it. Interestingly it states on the box that it was made in Thailand :-)

I think originally they were made in Japan, but for the past year or two they have been made in Thailand. Mine is also made in Thailand, but the quality is great so I have no issue at all with recommending it.

I bought a brand new fridge from Harvey Norman. I have had the fridge for less than 3 months and finding that most of my food is going off in the refrigerator compartment regardless whether the temp is set to 1 degree or 5 degrees. The food is going off after 2-3 days and it's concerning considering my old Electrolux fridge is able to keep the same food for at least 1-2 weeks. The problem is progressively getting worse since I bought. Mitsubishi please help! I'm located in the Brisbane area northwest side

I would be contacting harvery norman and organising someone to have a look at your fridge as that shouldnt be happening at all i have had my fridge for a couple of months now and my food has never been fresher there must be a fault somewhere

Graham

We have had the reverse problem of Freezing - minus 4 degrees in the crisper You need to get a suitable thermometer to get temperature in various parts of the fridge. Ring Service straight away it is a problem with the fridge.. After 5 visits from service changing various bits & making lots of adjustments on the front panel they are now replacing the fridge. Having the thermometer gives you solid evidence of fault.

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing a loud 'click' noise from the door hinge when the left fridge door is about 1/4 of the way open? We had our fridge delivered on the weekend and so far we're extremely happy with it. It's only the left fridge door that does it; this is the door with the control panel inside so I'm wondering if it's just normal (due to wires etc running through).
I've rechecked the doors and they're definitely level; it doesn't seem to be an alignment issue but rather something making a noise in the lower hinge area.

Hi we have had our fridge for around a month now and have no noise issues with it what so ever so not sure where your noise would be coming from

terrasprite

Haha, after reading this I checked ours and it clicks too! The left hand door does make a slight click at the point where the self closing spring (or whatever it is) kicks in and closes the door for me. My advice... ignore it; it's a small price to pay for a great fridge. I could take the door off and dick around with it but I can't be bothered. I hadn't even noticed it till this review.

Phil H
Phil H

The clicking sound was very loud and any visitors who'd seen the new fridge made a comment on it. We had a Mitsubishi service man look at it yesterday; he replaced the door hinge and bracket and it is perfectly quiet now. Fantastic service! He arrived on time and was very professional.

I have a L4 Grade (MR-L710EG) that appears to be "running" all the time.

Is this normal or do we have a problem?

Hi Tony, I would say 'yes', sounds like a problem. Compressors should not run all the time, also I'm pretty sure yours would be the Inverter model? the compressor should run even less on these..

Wiz.au
Wiz.au

I disagree about how long the motor should run for. With an Inverter system, there is the ability to speed up or slow down the motor, unlike 'classic' non-inverter units that are full on, or full off. As the inverter driven motor can run slow to save power but still achieve the required level of efficient cooling, it may run LONGER (but slower) than a unit that just has full on/full off that goes into a "too much / not enough / too much" cycle.

In several of the reviews above people were able to do this easily. They rang Mitsubishi for instructions. I do know wires run down the left front door so they must pop out. Make a call first! I'm sure they deal with this regularly - it's a deep fridge. The handles do come off too, but above reviewer said it comes down to 76.4 cm so not an option for you!

Wiz.au
Wiz.au

Appears they have had problems with the doors from people taking them off themselves to get them inside the house. Here's my written response from Mitsubishi on this matter advising I should _PAY_ for a service provider to do this. They don't go as far as to say I will invalidate the warranty though.

Thank you for your email, getting the alignment of the door is critical therefore we recommend that a Mitsubishi Electric Australia Accredited Service Provider to carry out the work.

Were u able to get the 710 fridge in thru the 76cm door? I am stuck in the same situation, my main door is 76cm! I read on whirlpool someone had their fridge delivered through a narrow door, they opened the door, took the door compartment off, and took the door in, in an angle, first the doors of one side, then the fridge body and then the doors of the other side. I wonder if that will work. I don't know when I will move out of this place and don't want to compromise with anoth fridge. Any help will be great.

The doors are very easily removed and replaced. However, you should have a couple of helpers to hold the doors for you while screws are removed and replaced. Make sure you place the screws in a safe container and note where each came from. The power links on the left hand door are easily unplugged, they are similar to automotive plugs. The doors are self aligning and guide pins slide into the correct location. Take it easy and slowly! I'm fortunate in that I'm handy with stuff but someone who is impatient and rough could damage them.

Hi I have had my L4 Grande for about 3 months now and no matter if we have the humidity on high or low our vegetable in the crisper drawer end up frozen and with ice on them! I have changed the fridge temperature from mid (3 deg) to mid/low (4 deg) but this makes no difference. We are throwing out a lot of vegetables and is very frustrating. Anyone have any suggestions?

I tried the same thing as you because of iced vegetables but after using a thermometer I found that the rest of the fridge was actually too warm. I changed the fridge setting to 1 degree to have the fridge 4-6 degrees and avoided using the drawers.
Today I have received a replacement fridge. I hope that this one cools evenly since it's such a great fridge otherwise.

Hi,

Yes, the 3-litre milk bottles most certainly do fit in MR-L710EG. You can fit six of the 2-litre milk bottles in the right-hand door and two in the left-hand door. As 3-litre milk bottles are the same depth, just wider, they most certainly do fit.

Here is a couple of photos of the MR-L710EG in our staff room loaded with milk bottles to give you an idea how they'll fit.

Hi Andy
Sorry to hear you are having this problem. My fridge is in a very confined space between cupboards with only a few centimetres either side. because of this it is very difficult to see down the side of the fridge. I did shine a torch into the space and could not see any sign of water. Obviously you have a problem. I would be contacting Mitsubishi or the retailer where you bought the fridge as this does not sound normal.
I think there is a tray under the fridge that collects the water. I'm no expert but it seems to me that this tray for some reason must be overflowing. Hope you solve this problem.
Good luck

Not long after taking delivery of our fridge, the left hand refrigerator door dented the front of right hand door at the top. We found that the plastic catch inside the top right door flicks out and then shuts on the right hand door front if we are not careful opening and closing. Also the rubber seal was damaged in this way too, by the catch cutting through the right hand side rubber seal. Is this a design fault?

Hi June, I have only had this fridge for approx. a month. I'm not sure but I think what you're referring to is the flap on the left hand door that automatically folds back when the door is open and folds out when shut. I don't think it's a design fault but if this flap is pulled out when the door is open and you try to shut the door, it will connect with the right door and possibly do some damage. Perhaps there is a fault with yours where the flap is not folding back as it should. I would be contacting Mitsubishi and checking with them. Sorry I can't be of more help but as I mentioned I haven't had mine for very long and it seems to be working normally.
Good luck, I hope you get your problem solved.

We have owned our Mitsubishi fridge for approx 2 years now and are extremely happy with it. About 3 months the little clips which hold the ice tray in the freezer section broke off from the sides of the freezer. These little clips are moulded on to the sides of the freezer at the front and the tray slides over it on both sides to hold it up and in place. The problem is that the tray no longer stays in its correct position which in turn effects all the trays underneath it. Yesterday we went to the fridge and the door had not closed properly as a result and there was a build up of ice over all the drawers and sides of the freezer (visitors!). I imagine at some point the ice tray has not been slid in properly and hence the drama. My question is, what can we do to rectify this situation? I can't imagine we can even replace a the pieces that are broken off and I also can't see that we could add anything to the tray either. Can you please help?

Gidday, i had a good look at our freezer tray and the clips that you mention on ours are on the tray itself, if it the other way round and it is the fridge itself that is broken you can ring mitsubishi support and if you tell them the model number they will have these parts, it looks a reasonably straight forward job to replace the part inside the fridge . If you look at the top of the compartment there is 4 screws that will let you take out the section that is broken and replace it . If it is the ice tray itself you should be able to purchase a new one . I suspect as they are a newish fridge you will only get the part from mitsubishi themselves, i have had a look at other parts suppliers but wasn`t able to find parts for these fridges, so just try mitsubishi direct. If you ring a repairman that`s what they will do but they will add on their fee aswell so give it a go

We have now put fridge temp on max cold setting, seems to have made a difference vegies are lasting longer, previous setting was midway, I am thinking now a fridge with better options for temp settings is a distinct advantage, the Mitsi has only 3 settings, now we have to run on max cold and use more power, not the end of the world.
