Is there a class action? There should be!
Has anyone started a class action against NIB travel? Please share details of where we can join, I have a litergy of information to share, the most pertinent being an operator who emphatically told me to get a letter from a GP advising me not to travel if I wanted my claim to be paid ! I foolishly decided to go the honest path as our air fares were cancelled and refunded so I need to claim accommodation deposit only! ly covered for medical expenses if I did travel! We have NIB shares, embarrassing! We also know a lot of people to tell our story to, we will be returning to our usual insurer for future trips! Direct complaints to Australian Financial Complaints Authority, the reasons NIB travel are denying payment have nothing to do with why people are claiming, we are claiming due to an unforeseen event which is why we all take out insurance and hence payments should be made!

Lying reply on ieatwords. Ignorant of the emails for update. 2.5 months passed and no progress.
Second review made. Their reply to my previous comment said they had made
private measage but actually no! No emails/sms.
You can judge their “professionalism” by looking at my update:
20/2: travel claim is made (for expenses within 1 day in Singapore airport and essential costs waiting for my bag)
10/3: they refused my claim, saying that the date of expenses is not covered in the insurance. Although it says in the policy that dalay-related costs will be covered!! Big liar here.

Waiting for my paymen
I lodged a claim against a QBE policy, now owned by NIB, and after due process my claim was approved on March 24. I was told that the amount would be paid immediately into my bank account. I am yet to receive the money 1 month later. They do not respond to emails and phoning is impossible. I am now wondering whether they actually have the capacity to pay due to the number of claims they must now be processing and will I ever get it.

Paid for Comp Travel Ins part of package through Luxury Escapes... rang to say trip cancelled due to Vietnam Govt travel restrictions and Australian Govt restrictions so obviously couldn’t go 3 weeks before policy was due to start... so paid for cover with no offer of refund etc even though they had to cover me for nothing.. a disgraceful act bordering on a scam... wouldn’t touch them with a 10 foot pole.. should be investigated. I see they want to know where I travelled to but there is no Orion to say I didn’t travel but won’t let me submit so I put SE Asia but went nowhere

Zero customer service when you make a claim!
Bought an annual travel insurance for the family, made a lost baggage claim, did the necessary paperwork, and after a month and several rounds of emails, no one followed up with my claim.

Absolutely no corporate social responsibility- go to IAG instead
Paid $3600+ but forced home because of virus travel restrictions.
Unlike IAG, is not offering prorata refunds (oreven credits), just keeping premiums for no coverage. At times like these, absolutely shameful.

charging premium for no cover - SURESAVE another NIB name
NIB uses many names to flog its travel insurance. I bought through Suresave.
Suresave are trying to keep premiums for travel insurance for travel that is no longer possible due to pandemic which has in effect been voided by pandemic. They are carrying no risk for cancellation, illness from other causes, travel delays, lost luggage but want to keep the premium while not being at risk for any claim. This is unconscionable conduct.

Worst Travel Insurance Policy
I would never recommend anyone purchase a policy from NIB. Qantas actively promotes a worthless policy. We purchased our annual policy 23/10/19 through Qantas, after waiting for over 3 hours to speak to the Qantas Service Center to seek a refund (under the “rules” we would need to use the credit 12 months after we purchased the fare, this does not fit in with our plans the event we were going to has been postponed until April/May 2021 well after the expiry date) I was advised we would be charged a cancellation fee and to contact our insurer. here is nothing in the policy that excludes a pandemic so I was feeling confident we could make a claim. NIB have this wonderful “get out” clause they will not cover “any loss caused by any Government intervention, prohibition” their service consultant could not care less and was very unsympathetic. If I stayed with my usual insurer CGU I would have been covered - lesson learnt. I will never recommend this policy to anyone. Qantas needs to revisit their relationship with this insurer.3 comments

Worthless Insurance
I have been held qantas travel insurance for the past 10 years and never had such a bad experience as I have. We have booked an overseas trip over 8 months ago and Covid-19 was not known of then, called to ask about cancellation and was told that my policy is useless and does not cover covid-19 or any government regulations imposed on people. I have spent $600 on a worthless policy. Very bad service and no empathy. Will never insure with NIB again and very disappointed qantas has teamed up with them

This insurance is worthless - Qantas needs to find a better underwriter
We have been insured continuously with Qantas Travel Insurance, (NIB Underwriters) for 4 years. We have never used our insurance until the other day regarding Covid 19, this is how the NIB representative stated our position and where we stand.

Very disappointed with NIB travel insurance
Just found out not covered with the Corona virus. We paid $1800 for the premium, for my husband and myself. We now have to cancel our whole trip. We should be able to cancel NIB travel insurance as well because we are unable to use it or at least receive a credit for a future trip. NIB travel insurance are taking money for absolutely nothing.

Worst Travel Insurance Ever
I urge everyone to stay clear of this useless insurer. I recommend Cover more. Owing to border closure our holidays were just cancelled because of corona virus. They refused to even hear our case. Our Airlines agreed to full refund but these morons won't even speak to us. Friends of ours who use Cover More have just confirmed that they will be refunded. As for us we are now cancelling our Private Health with NIB too immediately.

Don't bother making a claim
I had a leading brand suitcase that cost hundreds of dollars, damaged whilst away, used twice.
My payout was 24.00 after claiming 350.00 - 20% depreciation less and 200.00 excess.

We were in New York when my husband's back went out. We called NIB and they sounded sympathetic over the phone. We asked the hotel and they referred us to a chiropractor down the street with a good reputation and very reasonably priced. We paid three times for a visit and kept all receipts and reports from the chiropractor. We immediately sent through all paperwork as soon as possible. We even paid for extra leg room seating for my husband on the way back to Sydney. We waited and waited to hear from NIB and they kept sending through more paperw...Read more

We went to Bali recently and we all got Bali Belly and went to the medical clinic. We were reimbursed by Cover-More by the time we got back home stress free. Buyer beware - NIB is a fraudulent company
Do not purchase insurance from this company, the customer service is absolutely rubbish and they will look for any reason not to pay a claim. My credit card details were stolen and money was withdrawn from my account. The card was scanned at an ATM machine and the details were used for a cash withdrawal in a different country. NIB called me and said as I still had my physical card they weren't stolen therefore the rejected they policy. What an absolute joke, this is the 2020 and virtual identity theft is everywhere. Do not go with this company, this is the worst experience I have ever had with a company. They should be investigated. If I could give 0, I would.

Travel Insurance - Worst customer support and experience ever!
I had purchased the travel insurance product for a 5 week period for a trip to South America. In Brazil, I had credit card fraud for large amount and I contacted NIB for advise. There staff did not know if the product included fraud, they put me on hold for about 1 hour to read there own policy details. My claim has been with NIB for over 1 month and I have to send e-mails asking for updates. Do not purchase this product with NIB, the customer service (presumably based in Australia) is the worst contact centre I have ever dealt with and trust me, there are some bad companies out there...They underwrite QANTAS therefore stay away from QANTAS also (overpriced product and with poor NIB quality service).

Dont waste your money
Bought comprehensive travel insurance with NIB. Seemed to cover a good amount and be reasonably priced.
Jetstar cancelled flights to japan due to aircraft needing parts (engineering fault)
The flight was cancelled after waiting to board, but dont qualify for a claim or anything Because Jetstar chose to cancel the flight. What???
Was told that Jetstar cancelled the flight due to engineering problems which doesnt qualify. Had it been weather related it would have (probably a catch if Jetstar cancel due to weather or airport cancels).
$147 in lost accomodation for one night minus the $100 excess. So for $47 just a flat no not covered.

I booked NIB Travel Insurance partly because I have been a member of NIB Health Insurance for over 20 years and partly because I had booked with them previously - but I had never claimed with them or anyone else for the last 30 years of travel. Not that this mattered in the end.
