First time using and never again
Waited over 2 months for claim to be actioned and that was after raising a formal complaint due to the extended delay.
The assessor did not consider all evidence provided so claim had to be resubmitted again.

We got our travel insurance policy with NIB via Qantas. Had an absolutely indisputable claim on that policy. They acknowledged receipt of my claim and promised to get back to me in a week. That's the last I heard from them, despite my prodding, until 2 months had passed and I had contacted the AFCA (pro tip: if you're buying NIB insurance, bookmark the AFCA website). NIB then informed me that they would be making a payment into my bank account "within 5 working days" (because internet banking is hard, right?). It's now over 2 weeks, and nothing.

Our travel agent recommended NIB as we needed an insurance that could be used over a couple of holidays through out the year, so it was expensive to begin with around $1700. Anyway, my son got sick in Canada with a virus and of course I followed not long after because I was looking after him. We both had to see doctors at different stages and needed medication. I called again on 19 August and spoke with Jemille who said I was put on the high priority list and that it would be done soon. I waited and called the following week on 7 September and spoke with Nina who also promised someone from claims would definitely call me today. It is now 2 months since I submitted the claim that is suppose to have a 10 day turn around. Still no contact. Not only was the insurance claim an absolute night mare to complete, we even had to go back to our own local doctor for him to sign off on it - another cost to me not covered and I am still waiting with no customer assistance in site. Backstreet insurance broker, no better than a dodgy used car salesman-Don't use it
● Policy terrible value.
● Policy designed to be unclaimable.

My flights were cancelled by my airline and this is not covered through the policy. Hardly a comprehensive policy at all for the price I paid. In addition it took them 3 days to inform me of this. I’d strongly recommend not purchasing insurance through NIB. Waste of money and time.

Non existent 21 day cooling off period.
Tried to cancel straight after taking out policy after realising the third person was not eligible for cover on the policy.
Two weeks later I am still trying to get my money back despite cancelling BEFORE the policy began and the same day I took the policy.
They have the hide to say because they didn’t start processing my cancellation straight away,
I hadn’t cancelled before policy began.
I’m told it takes 5-10 days for them to assess a cancellation request and then another 5-10 business days to process the refund.
NIB representative Babita has been ignoring my text messages and emails.
Needless to say, they still have my money and my refund is nowhere in sight .

I am writing this whilst still overseas recovering from a traumatic injury that required surgery and rehabilitation which I am still undergoing. I was forced to pay the upfront costs of my surgery, hospital stay and rehabilitation which cost me close to $20k AUD from my own pocket on top of what I have already had to pay for the policy itself. Terrible! Claim take a long time and has not resolved yet
It’s over 6 weeks now since I have submitted my claim on 8 February and have been advised it will take 10 working days to process. Every time I called to talk to my case officer,her excuse was “she will contact me tomorrow” or “I will send an email by end of the day of results”. She has never done that at all, such a liar.
I will contact office of fair trading/ACCC to discuss about unfair products/services and will never used any products from NIB insurance again.

It is now nearly two months since I lodged my claim, they keep requesting for further information and it takes them 10 days to review each information and then make further requests and after that make even further requests. I don't understand why they cannot make the further information requests all at once.
I will not use them ever again.
They were required to respond to me by COB today and I have yet to recieve a response.

Disappointing lack of Customer Focus in dealing with Quote Process
We got a quote for overseas travel insurance from NIB via the Qantas Travel Insurance Website and after speaking to someone from the Sales Department. The quote was for approx. $2,500 and noted that it was valid until 7 February 2022.
We attempted to pay on line on Saturday 5 February but the website said there was a problem with the links and we should contact the Company during business hours.
