I purchased a VR7000 today and when it is cleaning the carpet in our master bedroom it just keeps repeatedly going over the same piece of carpet. Has anyone else had this happen and found a solution? Thank you

If you have dark coloured carpet in the bedroom the robotic vaccum will not work very well. Of course, you are not told about this when you purchase it. Mine will clean a room, clean elsewhere and then come back and clean the original room again. Most annoying. It will go under a table or chair and go round and round in circles and not clean everywhere else. When it does do the cleaning the suction is very good and it does make the place quite clean except along the edges of the walls. I don`t think that they are as good as they should be considering the money spent.

The issue is when your Powerbot comes up to a very dark or black part of carpet the cliff sensors think it’s about to go over an edge like stairs. As such it will move the vacuum around these spots. iRobot Roombas are the same and with either one you can’t switch off these sensors. There is a fix though.

The fix is not pretty but find your cliff sensors on the bottom side and front edges. Mine has three. They look like little windows. Cut out some white pieces of printer paper and use some clear scotch tape to secure them. This will trick your robot into thinking the surface is not black. The problem with the fix is you have no protection of your bot going over cliffs anymore. If does work though for you black/dark carpet areas though.

They paper patches will need to be replaced occasionally as they wear out. Do not use thick paper or white cardboard either. For some reason only white printer paper works.

My power bot was left off the stand for 4 months. I can’t get the lights on again. How do I get it to work again?

Hi Clara, I think that as you did not charge the battery, it has gone dead, completely. You will have to take your power bot back to where you bought it and ask if they can get another battery. Either that they can tell you where to get one.

I have the Samsung SR2AK9350U POWERbot Turbo Robot Vacuum, while sitting in the docking station it shows fully charged no problems... I push the button to start I get a count down from 5, it backs away from the dock as normal, turns around like it's going to start and it goes dead... no lit up screen no error codes, I place it back on the docking station after a bit the screen will come back on and show the system is ready to go !!! Any help?

after 1 year and 1 month mine just started trying to vacuum in reverse also, I cleaned everything took battery out(reset?) but nothing fixed it on internet trying to get help and its out of warranty now! did you ever fix it?

Wipe down the front bumper and make sure there's no sticker or anything struck on it. The sensor is making the unit reverse because it thinks something is in front of it. Hope that helps.

I think the 1.5m is diameter. So it's really a small spot. We could use the pointer for designated area if spot clean can't cover that far.

How does the mapping work if you have vaulted ceilings. Can I set the vacuum to vacuum at night in total darkness or does the camera need light to map? I have the powerbot Wi-Fi model

I'm not totally sure but I'm sure it will need light to initially map the room and then maybe it could be used at night once the initial mapping has been done.

Same Here. It happened 4 months after the warranty expired. Your motor is shot, and it need replaced. How long did you own yours before it failed. Just a design flaw, hopefully Samsung will work with us at a reasonable price.

When I press the mute button the mute symbol comes on but the vacuum volume does not decrease. Is the vacuum supposed to be completely silent on mute or not.

2 answers
Jessie
Jessie

The mute button turns off the notification sound. It does not silence the running vacuum. The notification sounds when the PowerBot gets stuck, when it begins it's cleaning cycle, and when it connects to the charger.

To lower the noise level of the vacuum itself, try turning down the power level (cyclone shaped button). This gives a quieter cleaning and makes better use of the battery

I have made myself my own professional powerbot fixer (prefer 9000+ models and I made a deal with the crap that’s this expensive beast has turned into and I am fully capable for pretty much fixing anything and the best part. I speak tech/ not tech and have over a 100 parts to fix basically anything. I’m a geeky engineer that always works on my own equipment because we can even take these to vacuums stores in the Washington D C metro area. So if you don’t mind shipping out to me ( hopefully not far you’ll go from someone reading a damn manual (tier 1, then escelsted to Tier 2, then up to the FEW rocket scientists who let this go out for sale with NO R&D. Meaning it won’t go over black lines and for almost $1000 you have to get the craziest support to get you up and running. I’m honest. This is my hobby and I do not intend to get rich from you ok. You pay for parts that I do not have I snd WILL NOT order anything w/o your approval and signature. If not about to fix (that would be the first in over 50 9000-9050’s......you can text me at(703) 517-0709 (Ed wolfe) nothing to hide and my address is15780 Crocus lane, Dumfries VA 22025 if you really want the best chance because not only does their lame ass support take so long they DONT KNOW how to fix. Man I wish I could make a business of this but have no where to start as far as charging outside of parts that I have to pay for. Any parts I have in surplus are free to you. Why???? Because I believe it paying it forward and helping others.....so I guess let chat text, call etc and we can work out a fair exchange and if you want to insure your broken bot be my guest. Maybe it will get lost in transit and the UPS will give you the money for the new one.

Ok folks here’s the good news. It’s the best and can take on all terrain and even thin lynolium and hardood floor very well. When it works. When I first disassembled this is was soooo pissed at Samsung. Most the parts are cheap plastic that are to hold forever and I expected it to be. H2 in my house! Hey I may even get a welding set and start making monster bots that I’d it grab the cats tail “uh-oh!” I don’t have a cNnans my heavily shedding dogs just move out of its way......

Anyway feel free to reach out. I’ve got some follow now and if it goes at this rate MSN’s I’ll be their next US base pre-release R&D engineer. Better pay me a ton cause I’m not chanrging much (yet) more I Lean quicker infix good for you

My powerbot was working great until two days ago. It's only 2 weeks old and it stopped working completely. The battery is not working. I've had it charging for days and it still won't even light up. I checked all the connections and tested the outlet and it's all good. Any ideas?

I've had the same issue. There are some instructions in the manual about what to do when this happens (must be a known issue) - switch the robot power off & on and do the same with the docking station. This worked for me for the first two times it happened, but after that no more. I made a support call and returned it for repairs. The service centre replaced the battery and charging PCB. After the "repairs" it worked for another week, then same problem again. I returned it again for more repairs, and then it worked again for one cycle. I then got a replacement unit, which seems to charge ok, but the replacement sounds like a chainsaw when it is cleaning, so back to the service centre again...

Does anyone know the difference between the VR9200 and the VR9300 ?

Is it just the "Select and Go" feature?

I tried to do an online chat with samsung but they were not very helpful, saying the VR9200 has wifi!
I said doesn't the VR9300 have wifi.. oh yes.. so they're the same?

On 1 spec comparison, it said the VR9200 had a running time of 180mins, while the VR9300 was 240mins?

I am just wondering why the VR9300 is $500 (50%) more expensive and trying to work out if it's worth the extra money.

Hi I belive the VR9300 has more suction as well compare to the VR9200, Because I spent many hours on the net trying to find all the differences, I ended up buying the more slimmer model because ot is not as bulky and it has lots more features compare to the 9300.
The model I bought is the powerbot VR7000, it's cheaper too!

Try turning it off with the emergency switch on the bottom and unplugging the base. Then plug it back in and turn the robot back on. This has been known to resolve issues with the bot finding and docking to the base.

Turns out it couldn't find the dock because it was on carpet. I put a flattened cardboard box under the dock and on a hard surface it works just fine.

The rumba is very selective about the color of the surfaces it will vacuum. Dark and black floors it won't work on. Is that the same thing with the Samsung Powerbot?

I had to return my Powerbot because it would not vacuum an area rug that had rectangles of black, white and gray in it. The Powerbot would be confused and jerk forward and back a lot and not clean the whole rug.

I had the same issue with the Powerbot but my smart friend suggested we cover the 3 cliff sensors on the bottom with crumpled alfoil to give the sensors still something to bounce off. As I have no stairs this is a completyly useful workaround and it will now vacuum my purple rug with black lines no problem :)

Just got a powerbot today. The charging station isn't recognizing the vacuum. The light just stays red and I've tried the vacuum a million different positions on the charger and I've moved the charge from three different rooms. I live in an older house. Could it be an electrical problem in the house? Or do I have a defective product?

My Powerbot simply would not clean a rug that had segments of different colors in it. Some white, some, black and some gray. I had to cover the "cliff sensor" under the front of the vacuum to make it stop thinking it was going over a cliff. Now it vacuums the rug but does hesitate a lot and do extra turns and such as if it still can somewhat see the segments in the rug. Any suggestions are welcome! I have a SR2AJ9040W - W series.

Well its hard to say without seeing it doing it. But my suggestion would be if you move different level in your house make sure you take the charging dock as well and start from the charging dock. It will make sure that if the charge is running low it will go back to dock and get charged. It will solve the confusion :)

I think it is the setting MAX is where its cleans until it have depleated it's battery ?
