Hi,
My machine does not produce any pressure on the gauge and pumps no water now.
Is there an easy fix?

Firstly does your machine still froth the milk? if it does then your second pump is working OK. Have you done the cleaning cycles ( there are two of them) listed in the user manual? If yes then it may be a Warranty issue as the pumps have five years warranty on them from memory (well the EM6900 did).

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Paul. Have you tried a pressure test to determine if it a pump issue or just a grind issue? If you place your cleaning disk in the 2 cup filter basket (flat side down), place the group handle into the group head and press the 2 cup button. If the pump is working to the expected standard, then the needle should be hovering between orange and red for the duration of the 2 cup cycle. If the needle does not rise, there may be an issue with the pump.

Hi I just purchased a new E7100 coffee machine and I am having issues with the programmed settings for the 2 cups. It is expelling more than 60ml of coffee. Can anyone suggest if this is a fault as I have attempted to restart it and the issue is still occurring?

Hi, page 9 in my manual gives instructions for programming the pour quantities try these adjustments of failing that try following the factory reset on the same page if you try this make sure you hear the 4 beeps after following the instructions, this should reset your machine to the default factory setting which is 60ml for the 2 cup pour.

When turning on the machine after a minute when it sets itself up, the steam wand spits out water lightly. Looks like pressure has built up and is causing water to be released. However sometimes it drips out small amounts of water rather than spitting. This still occurred even after I descaled. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi Bonnie,
It could be just a residual amount of water left in the wand.
If it persists, give us a call on 1300 881 861 to further assist you.

My EM7000 won’t expel coffee from the single or double cup. It works fine with the Nespresso shots and the milk and water wand is fine. Help!

1 answer
Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Dim. When you say the machine works with the Nespresso shots, are you referring to the EM7100?? That is the machine that is compatible with the capsules or pods. If there is no coffee extracting when using the one and two cup filter baskets, your grind is most likely too fine, thus not allowing the water to push through. If you are grinding your own beans, try a coarser grind. If you have preground coffee, you will need to buy a coarser grind.

Hi, my EM 7000 is a few years old. We hardly ever use the steam wand, but it has now stopped working. I can hear the pump, but the pressure gauge doesn't move and nothing comes out. I have cleaned the tip and wand with a paper clip and done a descale with no success. Any ideas? I am sure I am out of warranty.....Thank you

Hi Ot T,
Maybe try another descale and then leave the steam wand running for a while to see if this may force it through.

Cafe Series Espresso EM7000K (Matte Black)

Hi. I have a EM700 series machine just over two years old. It recently started making a crackling noise when performing the extraction and 2 days ago started spitting coffee out of the group head spout. The pressure gauge is also sporadic going low then high and never reaches the orange zone. I have tried different grid levels but this is little change. When using the same grind level that I have successfully used for the past two years on a Sunbeam grinder, the pour is the worst and even pushes the coffee grinds into the cup. I recently tries cleaning it with a tablet but it made no difference. Can you shed light on the possible causes?

Hi,
I also get the same thing occasionally. Sometimes it's because I put too much grounded coffee into the group. Also this helps sometimes, cleaning the area where the group twists into. Using a cloth, I push it up the sides and go around the full circle. This helps create a better seal. However I would like to know if anyone else has had this issue and what they did. It certainly shouldn't be happening.

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Mike. It's quite difficult to diagnose the issue without seeing the machine but it sounds like you may need to replace the seal in the group head. Have you done this before? We recommend to change it every 12 months. If there is coffee/grinds escaping around the edge of the group and the pressure isn't consistent, it would suggest that the seal has worn or is out of place.

Hi, recently my machine only seems to work sometimes. When turning the power on the “power” keeps flashing and the other lights don’t turn on and nor does the machine. Any suggestion on what this could be ? Thanks in advance

Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Lukeyd. Can you advise how long this happens for each time. Ordinarily I would just say that this is the thermoblock reaching temperature and this can take anywhere between 1 and 2 minutes especially if the machine hasn't been used in a few hours.

Hi Ravi, this sounds like it could be the thermoblock which heats up the water. Might be an idea to pop it into one of our Service Agents to take a look for you as it isn't something that can be replaced at home. If you visit our website www.sunbeam.com.au and go to the Service and Support link you will find a listing of our agents, or if you email your suburb and state we can point you in the right direction.

We love the machine, however, when we do a second shot the pressure is way into the red and it gets terribly burnt. First shot perfect, second shot always burnt. Exact same settings on our grinder. Can you advise why this would be the case? Thanks.

I believe this is caused by water and soggy coffee leftover in the bottom of the portafilter basket from the previous coffee. This would cause the next grind of coffee to clump on the bottom straight away and might result in the pressure gauge to go into the red. I think this has happened to me.

I would recommend washing the portafilter and thoroughly drying it prior to grinding the next lot of coffee.

It could also be caused by wet coffee grounds on the group head. I have a cloth to wipe any excess coffee grounds from it after each pour. You'll probably find that the coffee 'puck' after a pour will get stuck on the group head this way.

Tari M
Tari M

Thanks Jay. We do wash the portafilter and group head after each shot as well as we would when finishing with the machine. We use the manual button for our shots, so not sure if that has anything to do with it. If i just make one coffee.. then clean up and turn it off, then make another a few hours later, it comes out fine.

Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Tari M and thanks for the question. Ordinarily I would give you the same advice as Jay has given you but you are obviously following those steps already. I haven't come across this issue before so it's hard to diagnose. Is it possible for you to call our customer care team on 1300 881 861 so we can get more information from you? Alternatively, send us a private message with your contact details and we can organise for one of our coffee experts to give you a call.

I have an Em7000 and it can with 4 different filter baskets. After reading the book i have found to use the single dual floor basket with ore ground coffe however I have be unable to get the coffee pressure into the green. I am wondering if I need to fill the basket more or less or what to do to get it into the green pressure area?

Try grinding finer and maybe increase dose slightly.

JayM
JayM

My own rule of thumb for grinding the perfect coffee is to fill the portafilter basket so the mound of coffee is about 1cm above the rim. When I tamp it down i can see a small sliver of silver from the tamp in the basket.

From there if it's still too watery and not the correct pressure, do what the above answer suggested and make the grind finer until it gets to your prefect grind.

Firepower
Firepower

I use the dual floor baskets and the pressure does not go up much at all but I get full nice tasting tan crema. As long as you get that you do not need to have the pressure go up.

I have found the dual floor filter basket to be brilliant and making the grind really fine does not get the pressure to change much.

Everyone should have dual floor filter baskets if you are not making great full tan crema all the time. The experts say it is cheating using a dual floor basket and do not use them but who cares as long as it works great.

I have a problem with the water wand every time I turn on the hot water, water wouldn't come out instead water come out through group head. Do you have any idea what happened?

2 answers

Customer C.Sunbeam

HI Harry,
It may be that it is blocked with dried milk. The nozzle at the bottom unscrews so maybe try taking this off and soaking.
You also need to descale the machine as this will clear any blockage in the machine.

What are the different baskets that you put in the group handle for? My em7000 came with 4 or 5 different baskets that fit into the group handle but I just can’t tell what they do differently when making a cookie.

Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Frederico,
You would have1 & 2 cup standard filter baskets. These are the basics and for a 1 or 2 cup delivery depending on how many coffees you are making.
Then there are the 1 & 2 cup Dual floor filter baskets. These have just one hole in them. Using these makes it very easy to get the correct pressure when making a coffee or if you are using a fine grind. They are the 'fix it' coffee baskets and make the job effortless.

Alison
Alison

Should all those baskets come with the machine? I only have the one and two cup baskets but would like the dual floor ones too as I feel I have to overfill my basket to get a strong enough coffee and it’s hard to put the group head on with the amount of coffee required for a proper extraction.

Hi, my 7000 series pressure gauge has stopped working and it won’t cut off on the one or two cup time limit. It’s like it’s in manual mode. Any ideas?

Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Shane. I would recommend that you do a factory reset on the machine which is explained on page 9 of the instruction booklet. This should revert your 1 cup button to a 30ml pour and your 2 cup to a 60ml pour. This should also help with the gauge issue. If you are still having problems after this, please contact us on 1300 881 861.

I am having a problem with the steam arm. When I have finished texturing the milk the steam does not turn off immediately. I have to wait several seconds for the steam to stop flowing otherwise the milk splashes all over me. Can anyone give me some advise as to what is likely to be causing this and the likely fix? Also I'd be interested in any tests and checks I should complete to diagnose and remedy the issue.

Mine does this too but I figured it was normal or it could be scale build up and the last few seconds is the excess pressure escaping.

Try going to a roaster and buy fresh beans. As the beans age you get less crema.
A good roaster will have the roast date on the pack.
