Hello Biruta,
It sounds like there is build up of coffee grinds in the group head, have you tried cleaning the cleaning Group Head on page 18: https://www.sunbeam.com.au/Root/Specifications/InstructionBooklet/EM4300_3245_A_IB_Web.pdf

Hello concerned,
That's no good - have your tried testing the power source with another appliance?

Hello Concerned - Hmm - I'm more of a driver than a tech. If it's under the bonnet I look for someone on a different pay-scale. Do what Sunbeam suggest. If that doesn't work, give their Customer Care a ring and see if you can trouble shoot. Clearly, you're into keeping your machine clean and working order.

Hi there
We bought a sunbeam mini barista about 15 months ago. Came home yesterday and it had dumped its water(all over the bench), there is a terrible electrical burn smell and the lights come on but nothing happens. Is it a case of RIP?

That sounds terrible! Probably like you, I'm great at driving but lousy under the bonnet. Have you thought of getting in touch with Sunbeam? A coffee machine ought to last longer than 15 months no matter what the warranty is. I had an electric Sunbeam deli slicer once and after 2.5 years it stripped the gears. They sold be a new slicer at quarter cost - it was probably the cost of a new gear set. You might also check out consumer law with ACCC.

Hello Mick Mc,
So sorry to hear of this inconvenience, how is the machine now?
Is it still not working?
I have never heard of this happening, could it have been a power surge?

Hey there
Machine appears to be well and truly deceased. I dont think it could have been a power surge as no other piece of electrical equipment in the house has been affected and no fuses were tripped.

Hello Shara C,
It sounds like the machine just needs to be cleaned, follow the steps from page 18 on: https://www.sunbeam.com.au/Root/Specifications/InstructionBooklet/EM4300_3245_A_IB_Web.pdf

Hi Shara C - that must be really annoying. I'm not much good 'under the bonnet'. I would presume you've followed the instructions in the manual and allowed the steam pump to warm up, etc. Another aspect I've forgotten a couple of times is to leave the group handle in the machine until after doing the milk - see Quick Coffee Making Guide, bottom RH corner of first page. I have no idea why this is necessary, but I do it. Finally, immediately after every milk-steam, clean the wand (hygiene) and then turn on the steam wand or the hot water and let it run for time. Milk can easily clog a machine. Sounding like the machine needs a clean.

I have the Sunbeam Mini Barista. Had it now for about 2.5 years. Today with the power plug in but the machine switched off, it suddenly started to pump and released most of the water from the unit. Turned everything off. Re-filled water, made sure it all fitted properly and with the machine switched off but the plug switched on, it does it again. Only stops when I turn the power switch off. Is that weird or what??

Yeah, that's weird! Sure hope mine doesn't do that. I only know how to drive it - stuff under the bonnet is a mystery. Like, I know what the PID does but I sure don't know how it does it. Sounds like a mechanic's job.

Hello Stan B,
That shouldn't be happening when the machine is standby mode. We have a directory of repair service agents, find your local agent here: https://www.sunbeam.com.au/en/Service-Agent-Locator/

Unfortunately not one local agent within 50km of postcode 5172 which is only 30km south of Adelaide. Unless the link you kindly sent is not working correctly....Cheers....Stan B.

Hi, my coffee EM4300 has recently stopped extracting and coffee at all and, instead decided to leak water out the side on the group handle. I used to be a full time barista and would usually say it needs a new seal, but I do find it weird that no coffee at all is coming out of the basket. Also I pulled the seal out and gave it a quick clean and noticed it has a particular shape... which I can't seem to find online anywhere. Does any know if a regular seal will work for the mini barista? I saw a Sunbeam "Cafe Crema" seal on ebay. Will this work?

Customer CareSunbeam

Hello DionS,
Our spare parts and quality control team member has informed me that the brew head seal on the EM4300 is very durable. It's more likely because of a blocked filter basket, not the seal, that's why the water is not coming through.

Sometimes it happens if the wand isn't in the milk jug in the right place (if that makes sense). I found with mine that if I brought the tip of the wand up so that it was right at the top of the level of the milk (so that it was frothing partly in the milk, partly out) it would disappear so could then put the wand a little further in. I've had multiple machines do this. You might find a good youtube video on how to froth milk as it's hard to describe in words - it works better if the tip of the wand is closer to the top of the milk. If you leave the tip of the wand right at the top level of the milk so that it's kind of half in the milk half out it will make more frothy, cappuccino milk, whereas if the tip of the wand is under the level of the milk you'll make more like flat white/latte style less frothy milk.

Hi Edward,
You can buy our Sunbeam Descaling tablets and use that to do a great job.
Alternatively you can use a white vinegar & water solution or lemon juice & water.
If you go to your instruction booklet, you will find the process there.

Yes they're quite loud unfortunately. We've also got a Nespresso machine and our Sunbeam is similar although slightly louder than the Nespresso (just for some reference). I've had 3 Sunbeams over the last 8 years and they've all been the same.

Thanks for your reply. l buy from the coffee shop and they grind it for me. Have tried 1.25 and 1.5 but l always get a 15 sec, pour . I took my machine to the barista for his help, he said to count the pour as soon as you start, before the extraction is coming out, He couldn't do much better than me He ended up giving me a small bag of 1.75......just to see how it would go.
It is still a 15 sec. though.
Any suggestions?

Hi Helen,
I usually say about 20 seconds so the barista is correct. Also make sure you tamp it firmly to see if this helps as well.

Ive bought one of these coffee machines and the first one was so loud when Steaming milk. Didnt matter what depth you had it in the milk it was ear piercingly loud. we had the machine replaced but the 2nd one is exactly the same. is this normal?

Rokko

Hi Jared, have a look at the question from Liz S. from a few days ago, she was asking the same thing. But just in case you can't find it, what it basically comes down to is technique. Having the steam wand too far into the milk can result in this loud screaming noise. Try raising the wand up so that it's just 'kissing' the surface of the milk, and then adjust it slightly from there to achieve the whirlpool effect without the noise. Another thing you can try is using a different size milk jug.

Sue
Sue

I also vouch for that method, there’s a little knack to it but once you have found the right spot to place the wand in the jug you’ll find it doesn’t give off that pestering loud sound.

Garry, you don't necessarily need to have the actual receipt, if you can prove that you bought it from that store some other way, eg. a credit/debit card statement showing a purchase for the amount of the coffee machine on a particular day. Obviously this is not optimal as it could be for other purchases made at the same time as well, but Australian Consumer Law does allow for this method of proof.

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Garry,
Thank you for contacting Sunbeam. So sorry to hear of this. If you remember the date of purchase JB HiFi can usually locate the receipt. You may need to check our bank statement for the date. Other wise you can take a photo of the under side of the EM4300 that has a 4 digit number It usually ends in 17 or 18 or 19. Please email it to [email protected] along with the issue and your address/phone contact details.
Kind Regards

Good question - I've found that's what most people do, but I'm in the habit of doing the milk last. If anyone has any good reasons for doing it one way or the other, I'd be interested to hear opinions as to why :-)

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi jinandfonic,
Thank you for contacting Sunbeam. You can do either. It is personal choice. By pouring milk in first and the coffee last may increase the temperature slightly. Kind Regards Sunbeam

jinandfonic

Textured milk will keep it consistency for longer than a shot’s crema if one keeps the jug moving (imagine a hula hoop around the jug & lightly swirling it) As long as the group head cools quickly enough to do the shot fairly soon? (Single thermoblock or single boiler machines heat higher for steam so can scald coffee if too hot) Topping up with milk last should give the best cafe result. (My dual boiler Breville died & unsure whether I should spend that sort of money again?) I am concerned about how many of this model have been replaced under warranty when reading the reviews or should I buy a better quality re-conditioned EM7000? Many thanks
