My Sunbeam EM4300 mini barista fills the drip tray with hot water when in standby mode. We had it switched off at the wall socket for a week. When switching on at the wall, without touching the Sunbeam power button, hot water starts filling the tray. Any ideas before I take it back to the shop?

Day one and four attempts and the machine is leaking a lot of water. Reading other comments this seems to be a common issue.
Regardless of the ability to return and have replaced this is such an inconvenience to try and pack back up and return to a store where we got the last one.

Thank you for you feed back. If the leaking is from inner/under the machine it will definitely need to be returned to the store of purchase as this coffee machine comes with a replacement only warranty.

Recently purchased the Sunbeam barista EM4300 which came with the 2 cup filter basket attached to the handle.
How do I remove this basket for cleaning or to insert the 1 cup basket.
It is very tight and I do not want to damage any of the components.
Thank you.

Hi Denis J, these do tend to be tight at first. Maybe try soaking a little with soapy liquid to see if this loosens it...

Why after less than a year my machine is leaking on the bench from the base. Really annoying and now it has less pressure and water is also leaking from the top. The water leaking out is cold.

My water pump is slacking off. Could this be a blockage or is the pump kaput? It’s worked a hard life so far but was hoping to at least get a year out of such an expensive appliance!

I like this machine and makes a great coffee but the group handle/portafilter having two spouts is frustrating.
When making a 1 cup espresso (in an espresso cup) it spills over the sides with two spouts and thus I have to use a bigger cup when an espresso would do.
Is it possible to swap a group handle for one with only one spout?
Also, if two spouts is all you have can one side be blocked some how?
How do i remove the plastic to clean underneath properly? I clean before and after use but wish to be more thorough every once and awhile.
Thanks.

I agree, a single spout would be more intelligent for an espresso size cup. It would mean an additional handle. I only clean the inside of the group handle, not the handle itself.

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi JTOWNE7,
Thanks for the feedback, it is something we will pass on. I myself often use a bigger cup and then just transfer. The plastic really should only need to be rinsed under the sink to keep it clean.

Absolutely agree. I have the barista max and it is very disappointing not to have the possibility to buy a single shot portafilter. Or one with the design of the em7000

Hi there, i purchased this machine just approx. 6 months ago (and i've absolutely loved it!). I clean both the wand, group handle and head after every use.
Just within the last week or so the flavour coming through is very gross and doesn't taste like coffee at all.

Could you advise any other way to have a good clean of the machine - maybe even the pipes inside?

3 answers
Wayne
Wayne

There are some products which clean the inside and the pipes to remove calcaire/ lime scale buildup, but that should not change the taste of the coffee. You also have to pass steam through the steam wand each time you use it to heat the milk, otherwise the milk stays in the end of the wand and can go off. Pass the steam through for a couple of seconds into a cloth or sponge and then wipe the outside of the wand to keep it absolutely clean.

Maddie
Maddie

thanks Wayne, but yes i do also pass water through the steam wand before using it every time.
(i usually just drink black coffee anyway)

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Maddie. You can purchase both cleaning tablets and descaling tablets from Sunbeam online or one of our affiliated agents. If there is a 'gross' taste, it would suggest that it is an external factor, such as cleaning products you may be using. The other factor to consider is if you have changed the brand of beans you are using?

I bought the Sunbeam Mini Barista coffee machine a couple of months ago. It works well, but the cover for the water reservoir does not fit correctly, because of the handle which is used to lift the container for refill. Is it possible to have a cover that does fit the reservoir?

I have a Mini Barista coffee machine (bought new early 2018). Was working perfectly until yesterday. Now when I infuse the coffee grounds - either using the one or two cup option - the pump does not switch off so I now have to manually time and turn off. I have tried resetting the time as per the user manual but this has made no difference. Any idea's on how to sort this out? The machine has been fastidiously maintained since new.

Thanks Manuela. I have since spoken to Clare at Sunbeam Customer Service (very helpful lady - Sunbeam always provide excellent after sales service in my experience) and she has said it will be related to the internal electronics and just to take it back to the store I bought it from and they will provide me with a new machine immediately.
