I bought the Sunbeam Mini Barista coffee machine a couple of months ago. It works well, but the cover for the water reservoir does not fit correctly, because of the handle which is used to lift the container for refill. Is it possible to have a cover that does fit the reservoir?

I went to a retailer and saw the same machine and noted how the lid clips onto the handle. I have done that now, so all is good.

I have a Mini Barista coffee machine (bought new early 2018). Was working perfectly until yesterday. Now when I infuse the coffee grounds - either using the one or two cup option - the pump does not switch off so I now have to manually time and turn off. I have tried resetting the time as per the user manual but this has made no difference. Any idea's on how to sort this out? The machine has been fastidiously maintained since new.

Hi Bryan, I bought mine last year, and a part from being dissatisfied for recent coffees (probably related the grind) I’m not sure how to fix technical issues. But, you if you still have the garantuee and original receipt, maybe is a good idea to use it? Have a good day

Thanks Manuela. I have since spoken to Clare at Sunbeam Customer Service (very helpful lady - Sunbeam always provide excellent after sales service in my experience) and she has said it will be related to the internal electronics and just to take it back to the store I bought it from and they will provide me with a new machine immediately.

HI Emma. I haven't heard of this happening before. So when you turn the dial to the OFF position, the steam continues to run?

Hi, I always run a cycle of clean water through the Porta Filla with empty Hopper after each Coffee make, then wipe & dry off any grounds still on the Stainless Mesh fitted to the Porta Filla. Would flush the system every 3-4mths will a liquid Coffee Descaler added to the Water Jug. I'd also at that time remove the Phillips screw holding that Stainless Mesh into the Porter Filler and clean & flush that completely. Hope this helps, cheers.

Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Esteban. There is a comprehensive cleaning guide on pages 18-21 of your instruction booklet. We always recommend Sunbeam cleaning tablets or liquid descaler as we have used these products in all of our testing.

Hi yeah tried again this morning and same thing. As soon as power is activated at the wall socket it starts pumping and the only way to stop it is to switch it too switch it off at the wall.
My number is 0414 657 033 or I think if it is outside of Australia it's 61 414 657 033. Apart from this issue it's been a very good machine.

Yes. That's been my experience also. The first couple of times I had to get assistance from someone more musclely than I. Now it's much more convenient. I just have brace the machine with one arm over the top, move my body in close, place feet apart, clench teeth and use my other arm to remove the group head. Easy! (insert sarcasm here)

Lulu
Lulu

It is pretty tough but I think you need to make sure you put It in correctly and pay attention to keeping the top of the coffee basket nice and flat. That seems to make removal a bit easier bit it has to be super tight to hold the pressure bro g used

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Koha,
When the machine is new the handle may be quite tight and will loosen over time. Just note you don't need to pull it
too hard when putting the handle in as is something we all do at times. Hope this helps.

My machine minibarsita E4300 is about one month old and is leaking. A towel has been placed underneath the machine and it gets damp from what must be a slow leak from underneath the machine. I am careful not to spill water from the wand or when filling the tank. Any ideas?

Is there a way to increase water temperature? My son drinks Strong black coffee and says that it is never really hot. Adding hot water to the cup isn't an option as it dilutes the strength, and I hoped that he wouldn't have to use another machine (the microwave) to finish making his coffee.

Sue O
Sue O

Thank you, Lulu. Disappointing, as my previous, very old Breville, produced very hot water. Maybe Sunbeam can consider this when they upgrade the machine.

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Sue O and thanks for your question. You cannot alter the water temperature in your EM4300. The thermoblock heats the water so that the espresso extracts at 92°C (just below boiling point) for optimum extraction of oils from the coffee grinds. Temperatures above this will burn the grinds resulting in a bitter taste.

MC James

yep, I have this machine set up with a separate grinder and grind straight into single wall baskets, it makes a great tasting coffee.

Page 11 of the user guide, it explains the rules about when to use dual or single wall baskets (single only with freshly ground beans)

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Murad, thanks for the great question! As MC James advised, you can use single wall filter baskets but you will need to grind your own beans as pre ground beans are generally too coarse.

Hi, I have only just brought this coffee machine. I just want to know if it’s normal for every time you turn it on it takes 20mins to warm up and uses nearly the tank of water to do it?

1 answer
Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Rachel R. The EM4300 should take less than a minute to be ready. I'm not sure what you mean by the tank of water being used to warm up the machine?? The water will only be used during coffee extraction or steaming. Where is the water going if the tank is emptying when you turn it on??

Just use the end of a blunt knife, slide it into the gap and twist and it should pop out

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Alvinkhong! Just to be absolutely sure, do you mean the filter is suck in the group handle as opposed to the group head? The group head is where the water comes out during the extraction process.

Hi all.
I have had my EM4300 for over 5 months, and this last 2 months it has been playing up. Each time i turn to pour 2 cups, it turns on the steam wand and lights up the function instead of the pouring.
Is this a faulty machine or is there a way i can fix it.
I love the machine and have not had any other issue, but this is a big issue as i make 2 coffees every time i use the machine.

Any ideas is a help!

Don't fill it up with too much with coffee. There should be about 1/2cm of room left at the top.

yes it was very stiff at first. I literally had to hold the machine with one hand and force the handle in and out. I've been using the machine for 2 weeks now and it has loosened up. Hope yours does the same!

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hey Wuckie, thanks heaps for your question......as the guys above have mentioned, if you overfill the basket it makes it really hard to turn......leave about 3-5 mm from the top of the basket. As Mrs Cackle said the group head does loosen up after a few uses.

My water reservoir has a thin film of green and the bottom. Will descaling remove this? We were away for a couple of weeks & I had left water in the reservoir. Also, can I use any descaling product? Love my machine & missing my daily espresso shots!

2 answers
Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Hammy - I haven't come across a consumer having this issue before, but it sounds like the thin film of green isn't scale so a descaling product wouldn't make a difference in this scenario. I would advise washing with warm soapy water to see if that helps. Scale build up will usually happen internally in the pumps and pipes and descaling should be performed every 6 - 12 months depending on usage and the hardness of water in your area. We have only descaled our products with our own descaling tablets so I can only recommend them.

Hammy
Hammy

Thanks - I only use filtered water in the reservoir and have had the machine for less than 6 months. Can only assume that as it sat in sunlight with a small amount of water in when we went on holiday, it formed algae. I have soaked it in a weak vinegar solution for a couple of weeks (replenished twice) and it is fine now.
Where do I get the de scaling tablets and must I use your brand? All I could find in Sunbeam brand was a descaling liquid but it said that was for kettles & filter coffee makers. Can I use the liquid in the mini barista?
Thanks for the reply. As I said, I am suffering barista withdrawal symptoms...

Hi, I purchased my minibarista 4 months ago and the steam wand is not working properly since last week. I need to dial several times to get it work. Any help?

1 answer
Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Sheila, thanks for your question. When switching the dial from extraction to steam, it does take 10 - 15 seconds for the thermostat to reach the correct temperature to create steam. I'm presuming this is not your issue as you have been using the machine for 4 months. It's definitely not normal that you would have to repeatedly turn the dial to get steam. You might want to try a descaling cycle as there may be a build up of scale in the steam wand which would inhibit the strength of the steam. Alternatively there may just be an intermittent issue with the PCB which isn't registering when you turn the dial to the steam function. If this is the case we would be happy to replace the unit for you. Please contact our customer care team.
