off my nurosurgeon for and could u cover me with or without my brain injury you did it with and it was great very happy with the price unfortunately i fell and hit the bad side of my head so went back to bimc which is hospital i called up and you put money on the card to pay my bill upfront and called me the next day to see how I was and even sent me an email when i got home. I also asked how u deal with hospitals as alianz called my partner Ian every day not the hospital he couldnt concentrate on me he was taken up with them but u said u deal with the hospital and would call me every few days to see how I was should anything happen to ian as i wanted to compare the way you deal with things to allianz you won 1000% a very different experience to what allianz do. I would highly recommend you to anyone i know know that cost is not important piece of mind is i learnt that the hard way keep up your great work we will be using you again in April and June for our next 2 holidays.1 comment

Don't buy travel insurance from this company
I took out TravelCard travel insurance for the first time to travel to Bali for a recent holiday. Unfortunately, I was bitten by a stray dog on leaving the beach there one afternoon. I went to a Bali doctor and got limited information and advice. I was also informed that only the hospital stores rabies vaccine there and that it could be very expensive to purchase there.
As I was returning to Australia a few days later, I consulted a Cairns doctor who recommended that I get two follow up injections to be on the safe side. At the time, I cal...Read more
led TravelCard and was informed that even though the policy was soon expiring I would be covered as the incident occurred whilst I was overseas and the treatment necessarily has to occur later. The Doctor provided me with a repeat prescription for two follow up vaccines of which I had the first one in Cairns following my consultation. The second one was required three days later. As I was travelling to NZ at this time, I found a GP clinic who administered the second injection on the basis of the information I provided and my vaccination booklet. The cost of the injection in NZ was $165 and the cost of it in Australia was $98. TravelCard was difficult to deal with on the claim and they put up hurdles and hoops to delay the claim and put me off making the claim. They required me to get a letter from the Cairns Doctor stating that in his professional judgement I needed the follow up injections. This is pathetic given that he wrote a prescription for two injections. It is also a waste of valuable time and resources at the 24 hour clinic in Cairns where there is an influx of people who have a considerable waiting time to see a doctor. The clinic in Cairns charged $55 for the letter, which turned out to be the Doctor's notes on the consultation. I queried the $55 cost with TravelCard and their telephone representative informed me that they would cover the cost of this letter.

If the airline cancels the flight am I still covered by insurance?

Customer ServiceTravelCard Real-Time Travel Insurance
Hi Terry,
Your coverage will depend on the reason for why the airline cancelled your flights e.g. Strikes, weather, hijack, civil protest or accident.
Generally if the airline cancels a flight due to something that is within their control like engineering issues or issues relating to the operating of the flight e.g staffing requirements then there would not be coverage.
We advise that if you are overseas and your flight is cancelled please call our on trip assistance team on +61 2 7909 2777 OR if you are still in Australia and would like further clarification call 1300 123 413.
If we need to cancel out trip, due to unforeseen circumstances eg illness does insurance cover all the accommodation cancellation fees as well as airfares?
Customer ServiceTravelCard Real-Time Travel Insurance
Hey Terry,
Cheers for your enquiry.
Regarding cancellation due to illness, we will require medical documentation to confirm you cannot travel. In addition to this, we require confirmation of the diagnosis and the date of diagnosis. It’s a policy requirement to determine if the condition that has caused you to cancel is a pre-existing medical condition or not.
Please contact our claims team if you wish to discuss further
