We are concerned that if it does go ahead we won’t get to do the things we’ve paid for.

Why are your Sri Lanka tours so expensive compared with other providers? There are similar tours offering 5 star hotels, full service air flights, meals and everything Wendy Wu offers and more eg the rail journey which is no longer in the Sri Lankan itinerary.
Why should we choose Wendy Wu when others are half the price?

Hi Curious,

It is near impossible to make any comparisons between what we offer at Wendy Wu Tours and tour operators that are not mentioned. With many different factors being applicable to all facets of our tour packages, it can be like comparing apples to oranges, and without any further information, we cannot make any accurate comment.

If you wish to enquire for any of our Sri Lanka tours, you are more than welcome to call our friendly Reservations team on 1300 727 998. Both our Sri Lanka group tours are currently on our Asia on Sale promotion and have a further $600 off the brochure price.

Hi Jackie M,

We have been monitoring the situation on a day-by-day basis for travel advisories in Japan. DFAT are recommending Australians exercise a high degree of caution in Japan. This does not mean that people need to reconsider travel to Japan at this stage. As May is still a few months away, we cannot comment on what the situation will look like then, but should anything change, we will certainly be in contact to advise the different options that will be available. Please rest assured that the health and wellbeing of all of our passengers is of paramount importance to us, we would not send anyone to a destination deemed unsafe.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call through to our friendly Reservations team on 1300 727 998.

Hi Dawn,

At this current point in time, it is only our China departures that have been affected and as a result, we have cancelled up until the end of March. We are, however, monitoring the travel advisories on a daily basis, for China and all other destinations we offer.

As the travel advisories currently in place are relevant for today’s date, we cannot comment on what the situation will look like for November departures in all destinations. That being said, the safety and health of our passengers is our number one priority. Should the travel advisories remain in place 21 days prior to departure, we will be in contact to advise cancellation and have some options available for amendments or cancellation free of charge.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the friendly Reservations team on 0808 2748 655. We are also regularly updating our websites as new information is presented which can be found at https://www.wendywutours.co.uk/help-and-advice/travel-advice/

We are travelling to JAPAN end March this year - only approx 6 weeks to date of flight via Singapore Airlines. Doing Japan Uncovered land tour. After seeing the way Australian people are being treated on the Diamond Princess and not being evacuated by our Australian Government - we now worry about our safety in Japan should anything happen. What is the status regarding your tour as mentioned above - is is still going or has it been cancelled or is it "to be decided" as things change in regard to the corona virus. regards from Us 2 concerned tourists. PS thank goodness we already did China with Wendy Wu - it was brilliant....

Hi Wendy wu kept $2000k of my paid trip due to cancellation (on my part), it would of been a gamble if I left any longer to departure date, wendy wu was looking at going ahead and modifying locations, at the moment I don't think it safe to travel as now contact of virus is said to be contagious easily and the extent is not being told, the truth is slowly coming out. Before all this I was told the tour was great by others that travelled to china, I've never been to Asia, I'll stick to Europe and other parts of the world. I can not advise for your trip to Japan, I had health insurance and received a refund I found out they do not cover you if you get sick from virus it's in most travel insurers product disclosure, hope you have a safe and wonderful trip all the best.

Thank you - I have left it too late to only loose 50% and not sure if air fares I loose in full as well - but with this virus it is health first and foremost - Japan has not been excluded for travel so no comeback with Insurance - and devastated to hear Insurance does not included getting sick with virus - what do they cover ?? We did not know about virus when we booked so you think they should cover - let down at every angle - and yes Wendy Wu China was magnificent trip so maybe another time for you. Safe travels and good health.

Hi Jeannie,

Please rest assured that the wellbeing and health of our passengers is of upmost importance. We have been monitoring the situation on a day-to-day basis, and the decision has been made to cancel all China tour departures up until the 15th of March as a result of the coronavirus.

Japan tours are operating as scheduled, the current DFAT advisory states to “exercise normal safety precautions”. At this point in time, the standard cancellation/amendment fees would apply. We understand this situation is a point of concern for many travellers, but please know we would not make any decision that would jeopardise the safety of any of our passengers.

We hope you are looking forward to your Japan Uncovered tour, it is a truly wonderful part of the world to see and explore!

Yes Margaret, my honest (best) advice is to see if you can choose Europe or another place now, or followup what's your options if it's cancelled my insurance does not cover virus outbreak. Travel agents will say anything to hold onto your money.

Hi Margaret,

The latest decision from today (6th February) has been made to cancel our China tours for departures up until the 15th of March, where passengers will be contacted in date departure order to make alternative arrangements.

From the 16th of March onwards to the end of May, due to travel advisories changing regularly, we are assessing the situation on a day-by-day basis and will advise the situation on individual tours 21 days prior to your tour departure date. We will be in contact with your travel agent to discuss your options. Please note that we are more than happy to waive any Wendy Wu Tours amendment fees if you wish to move your tour to a later date or book a different tour with us. You will, however, need to pay any difference in tour costs and flight amendment fees. If you wish to cancel, standard cancellation fees will apply. Should we be unable to offer your chosen tour (due to the DFAT travel advisory remaining in place) when we contact you 21 days prior, you will then be able to cancel your booking free of charge.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our Reservations team on 1300 727 998.

I am travelling to India on the Inspiring India tour with my friends who are a married couple. I am travelling as a single female, paying the single supplement, therefore being alone in my own room. We are arriving a day earlier than the tour date of 29 Feb, therefore 28 Feb early in the morning. I have advised my travel agent that I experience some claustrophobia and have requested all rooms pre tour and during the tour, to be on a low floor with either a balcony, or opening window. I do not have the final itinerary for the name of the hotel on our arrival, which should be the same hotel as the Pre night hotel in Delhi. I am concerned regarding my problematic claustrophobia and the feeling of being "closed in" to a room. I do not want to burden my friends if a problem does arise. Can you please advise when I will receive the hotel list and also what I should do if I experience any issues? I would gladly move rooms, or even to other accommodation if my room does not suit me. Would this be a problem? Many thanks. JA

Dear JLA,

We hope you are looking forward to your upcoming Inspiring India tour with Wendy Wu Tours.

Please be advised that we have updated our Ground partners and requested a room on a low level, with either a balcony or an opening window. Should you experience any difficulties whilst on tour, we would advise that you speak with your guide in the initial instance.

You will receive your final documentation 2-3 weeks prior to travel, this will include your confirmed hotel list.

JLA, if you have any questions or require any further information, please contact our office to discuss this further on; 1300 727 998.

My husband and his brother along with myself are booked on the 26day china tour beginning on 3rd April. How many people are booked on this tour just out of curiosity. Is it a small or large group? We are really looking forward to this trip and hopefully will still go ahead even with all the negative reports coming out regarding the health issues. We are also due to fly to Wuhan before transferring to a coach for our journey to the Yangtze river cruise

Dear Robyn,

We are delighted to hear that you are looking forward to your upcoming tour of China with Wendy Wu Tours, China is certainly a fascinating place to visit.

Currently your tour has reached the minimum numbers to travel with a National Escort as well as our knowledgeable local guides in each area visited.

We have made the decision to reroute tours that were scheduled to transit through Wuhan amid the ongoing corona virus outbreak. We are currently working with our Global Teams in the UK and China on options that will have minimal impact to your tour, and we will notify you shortly to provide further information. We appreciate your understanding during this time.

We are interested in the Ultimate China tour and the Road to Samarkand. We are a couple and will both be 77 when we plan to go. We are reasonably fit and able (we think) for our age. Maybe a bit slower than younger travellers especially up hill. Would our age cause a problem?

Hi Kathleen,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Wendy Wu tours has a wide range of travellers on each of our tours.

Both Ultimate China and Road to Samarkand tours have an active level rating of 3 out of 5, this means that a good level of fitness is required as you need to be comfortable walking for 2-3 hours a day and covering long distances. Although some long walking days, this will be at a gentle pace and will involve straight forward terrain.

We would love to have the opportunity to welcome you on a Wendy Wu tour, please call our knowledgeable team on 1300 727 998 to discuss your enquiry further.

We are 2 couples travelling to Japan with Wendy Wu at end of March 2020 for cherry blossom season. Can anyone give me some tips please? How to use toilets with so many buttons? How much Yen to have? How long on road before a toilet stop? Could we use fork and spoon or do we have to use chop sticks? These sort of advice I am after, thank you. What type of dress code for dinner? All our meals are included so I know only expense would be drinks or souvenirs.

Hi Vicki,

We hope you are looking forward to your upcoming trip to Japan with Wendy Wu Tours.

You are correct, your tour is fully inclusive and any money that you bring along is simply for souvenirs, drinks and any additional requirements you may have whilst on tour.

Whilst chopsticks are the utensil of choice in Japan if you wish to use a fork your guide will be able to assist with this request.

There is no specific dress code for dinner, whatever you feel comfortable in will be suitable.

Vicki, should you wish to discuss your trip in further detail we would encourage you to please call our office and have a chat with our friendly team. You can call our Sydney office on 1300 727 998, we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi Susan
My wife and I have done 5 tours with Wendy Wu - 3 to China, 1 to Japan and the latest 1 to India. In all 5 of them we have had no problems whatsoever and I cannot praise the company, its guides and its drivers enough. They will totally go out of their way to ensure you have a great holiday.
I cannot remember the title of the Japan tour but it covered Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Osaka as well as stopping at a few places en route. At each place the hotel was at least 4 star, each bedroom was en suite, the food was served in wooden cartons which had 9 sections and in all of them I ate at least 8. My wife had special dietary requirements and she was served first, sometimes with food I wanted to taste!.
My advice to you would be not to hesitate and go and enjoy the tour. Get immersed in the Japanese culture and try new things,
On the larger scale Wendy Wu is a VERY reliable company and I have always had very good to exceptional service from them. Happy to answer any more questions.
