My family and I will be travelling to Nepal to trek to Everest base camp.
If weather conditions require us to be helicopter lifted back to Kathmandu, will we be covered for the extra cost?
You have to ask insurance. They are quick in reply. Only used them once for my trip to Europe
You'd have to check with the company, I've never travelled to that area.
Does 1cover travel insurance, when the cruise package is included, provide medical evacuation cover if you have to be repatriated by helicopter from a cruise ship?
Hi. You have to ask the insurance. Haven't used them yet for cruise
This is a direct quote from the PDS for Comprehensive Cruise Travel Insurance (but I would still check with the company):
Unlimited Medical
Medical costs on a cruise can be expensive. Relax knowing you're covered from ship to shore with unlimited medical cover and emergency assistance.
My husband and 2 teens will be diving in Fiji. Do you cover diving?
Hi 1Cover Travel Insurance, May I ask if non-Australian is eligible for the travel insurance and does it covers pregnancy? I'm a Malaysian and going to Australia for holiday. I'm looking for travel insurance that can cover pregnancy while in Australia.
I'm not sure. I would suggest you read the product disclosure information. Depending on how pregnant you are, you will also need to check with your airline
Don't know. I also suggest you examine the full policy.
Hello, we do cover visitors to Australia, however we do not cover pre-existing medical conditions unless it's a listed condition as an automatic cover. Unfortunately pregnancy is not a listed condition. Regards Sophie@1Cover
Hi. A liver transplant 13 yearsago and all is fine. The specialists I see say it's safe for me to travel. Do I have to pay 4 or 5 times the price for your cover?
Hi, we would need to complete a quote with an assessment to give you a more accurate idea on whether we can provide cover and what the additional cost would be. You can contact our call centre on 1300 126 837 who are more than happy to assist. Thanks Sophie@1Cover
Hi 1Cover Travel Insurance,
May I ask what if I do not have enough money to cover the incident that might happen to me during oversea trips, what should I have to do then? Should the company pay for the costs incurred on behalf of myself?
Hello, we cover medical expenses if they are more than $1000. All other claims need to be lodged with a receipt/document for processing. Thank you Sophie@1Cover
If you cannot go to your holiday due to a sick child will your full fares be returned that your paid to your airline?
If your child is travelling with you on the policy and it's not due to a pre-existing medical condition (unless they have a condition that was declared and accepted on the policy), then you have provisions to claim for any cancellation fees and loss of deposits. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need further clarification. Thanks Sophie@1Cover
if I get a Indonesian motor bike licence when in bali would I be covered if I have accident?
Hi Glen, You must hold a current Australian Drivers Licence to be covered for riding a scooter/motorcycle less than 50CC. If the scooter/motorcycle is more than 50CC, you will need to hold a current Australian Motorcycle Licence. Thanks Sophie@1Cover
Hi, is myopia considered to be a pre-existing condition?
Hello, Myopia is not considered a condition as a Compulsory disclosure, therefore you can choose to have this condition covered or not. This condition can be covered by completing our online medical assessment within a quote. Thank you Sophie@1Cover

Hi Darcy,

Planning to travel for 2 years - Uk and Canada and hope to pick up some Casual work whilst travelling. Which travel insurance policies are best to cover me whilst Im away without needing to return to Australia to renew?
Hi Joe, we are only able to provide our polcies for a maximum of 12 months for a single trip and you must have the intention to return home under the policy period. Thank you Sophie@1Cover
We went to Europe in 2017 planning to stay for 1-2 years. Virgin insured us. They would insure for max of 2 years, we only had to renew online when the 1st 12 months was up.
Travelling to Bali in December with Husband and 3 teenage children 22,20 & 14 plus their 2 partners which are both 19 years old (they are not employed full-time). We are all travelling together and staying together. One son & girlfriend are coming back a day later. Can I take one cover out for all of us?? Thank you Kazza
Hi Kazza, I would recommend that you give our friendly contact centre a call on 1300 368 344. While the short answer would be yes, there are a few options for you and your families circumstances. Thanks Sophie@1Cover
Hello, I am coming to Australia on my working holiday visa from Canada in November and am needing insurance for the duration. Does 1 cover have an insurance policy that will work for me? Would I be able to go out of Australia on holiday or would I be able to go home in the middle of my visa duration without penalty? Has anyone purchased inbound to Australia insurance from them? What will the claim process be for me, would i have to pay for everything out of pocket and then have 1 cover reimburse me?
Hi all,
I am travelling to the states with my daughter at the end of this month. I am looking at getting cover mostly in case we have an accident and myself or daughter needs medical attention but also in case something gets lost or stolen. I see the word "reimburse" all through the conditions and this is where my question is.
I understand you give guarantee letters to hospitals but in other situations (not regarding hospital or emergency situations) such as where we would be asked to pay up front and be reimbursed later, what if we aren't able to pay (afford) the upfront costs? (but provides all documents needed and contacts in the appropriate amount of time)
We have saved to go on this trip but don't have extra hundreds in case something happens.
Thanks for your time and understanding

What are the caps? How much medical is covered for air ambulance? Where is the emergency call centre located?

If you have any further queries regarding the policy I recommend giving our friendly customer service team a call on 1300 368 344, they will be more than happy to assist you. Thank you Sophie@1Cover
Hi, about to go to USA and Canada (although Canada didn’t seem to be an option on the travel to list?). My partner has had a stent put in near his heart nearly two years ago. All seems good now and the doctors give travel ok’s. But am concerned from reading your reviews that in the fine print he might not be covered? I’m sure all will be well, but going to USA and having a medical issue is not an exciting option. Just need that assurance that you will support us should things get wobbly. I filled in a form for him, with the heart condition, there was a small extra insurance for the situation, which was very reasonable. Thank you,
Zita
Hi Shavi, provided you have declared his pre-existing medical conditions and paid the additional premium your husband would have a provision to claim for unforeseen incidents related to his declared conditions, if you wish to double check that everything has been declared correctly I would recommend giving our contact centre a call on 1300 368 344, they will be more than happy to go over your policy with you. Thanks Sophie@1Cover
Does this policy cover all pre existing medical conditions?
They told me that it does, but I’m sure when you place a claim they will find a way too get out off it.
You really need to read the whole long winded policy
You would have to ring them and ask them.
Definitely NOT! They have the usual short list of medical conditions that all Travel Insurance seems to cover (so read through that list first), then if your condition is not on that list you have to do an online medical assessment. It is not difficult to do the assessment, and at the end it will tell you if your condition can be covered with the payment of an additional premium. My condition, which has been covered by other travel insurers many times, was not covered. It simply said they could not cover it, so even paying additional premium was not an option. Although my condition is most unlikely to cause me any issues overseas, I would never travel without fully comprehensive cover for medical conditions, so 1Cover is not for me. And I won't waste my valuable time even getting a quote from them in future! Australia Post Travel Insurance is a good option that I have used before. And when we had a claim due to my husband's health, they paid up promptly.
