We have bought many policies with this lot after a poor experience with another lot - this lot is also a bunch of crooks. We understand that pandemics are not included BUT would have expected that ALL medical would be covered no matter the cause - the fact that it isn't shows the moral vacancy of these companies - you are insured as long as nothing happens. Avoid this company like a pandemic
This company should be called NO COVER!
Hang on to your money and avoid this company like a pandemic. Paid extra cover for my son with an existing medical condition to be covered for a Europe trip for June 2020. Our policy was taken out in December 2022. Spent $780 for 6 weeks to not be covered anything relating to Coronavirus as excluded from their policy

ncel. 1Cover are not interested in assisting their customers even if wanting to make changes to travel dates, except if you pay for a new policy. They are not answering phones nor responding to call backs. I can just imagine if needed to make a claim how terrible their service would be. Leave a negative feedback if you to have experienced similar experience wanting to cancel or change dates. 1Cover needs to be more accommodating to their customers in this unprecedented event. My printed policy is to be used as a substitute for toilet paper.

Always Value for Money
I have used 1 Cover on many occasions over the past few years. It has always been very easy to arrange, on line. I have always believed the travel cover was good value for money for my needs. My most recent trip away resulted in me making my first ever Claim on 1 Cover re the excess associated with a minor rental car accident. 1 Cover handled the Claim process most courteously and expeditiously, and left me very pleased with their service. Communication by the Claims Officer was exemplary. 1 Cover is a most professional organisation in my view, with excellent processes.

Do not buy from this company
Have just discovered there are so many exclusions with this policy that it is not worth having. If governments tell you not to travel than your insurance should kick in and pay for airfares etc that need to be cancelled. They have your money and getting interest for ages before you travel. I have had many policies with them where I have never claimed so they get money for nothing but when you need to claim they won’t pay. Stay away from them.

Exclusions galore and fine print
Purchased comprehensive travel insuranve the day we purchased flights to America in July 2022. Discover in the fine print so many exclusions. This cover is almost valueless and I will be contacting AFCA. Have to cancel trip and chase refunds from airlines and accommodation and not refunded travel insurance cost either. DO NOT USE!!!!

Beware of exclusions - Coronavirus and ANY related expenses not covered!!!
I have previously used TID and been happy with them, however was recommended 1Cover by a friend due to their seemingly high level and standard of cover and decided to give them a go instead. We purchased a "Comprehensive" policy last year well in advance of our trip, however we found out while we were already travelling for several months that 1Cover exclude Coronavirus (and any other epidemic/pandemic) completely from their coverage, *including* medical costs, despite us purchasing well before the disease had even emerged.

It's been disappointing that the only advice they offer on their website is that they don't cover anything related to the disease - leaving us to financially manage all medical, hospital and other costs while we are travelling. We found this out ourselves by doing some research into it - they have not contacted us once relating to our existing policy which is quite poor considering how many people this will be affecting. Travel Insurance Scam.
In times of crisis the scammers hide behind policies and take your money. Airlines and hotels are refunding some money, but 1Cover is not interested in helping. I will never insure with these guys again.

I chatted online yesterday and was assured we would be covered for the Coronavirus. Whoever I was chatting with said they are not like other Insurance Companies. I save my Chat from them to have this in writing now just wondering???? Had to put in I had traveled but we have not as that is why I chatted with someone to see if they covered our upcoming trip. Another Pathetic Insurance Product/Company - Coronavirus
We purchased travel insurance Policy with 1Cover May 2022 because of such positive ratings only to find Coronavirus is exempted despite this becoming known 7 months after purchase. Most industries, including banks, are working to support their customers during this difficult period - with the very clear exception of the insurance industry. Well - good luck 1Cover with future sales with such negative ratings. I hope your staff are looking for new jobs as I'm sure this company won't be around much longer.

Due to the Coronavirus I cancelled my holiday. I received a full refund from airline and travel agent.
I have tried to contact 1Cover more than 4 times electronically to advise the insurance is no longer required. Yet no response.
They have taken my money and didn’t have to provide the service.....there is a word for that.

Pandemic exemption for Caronavirus
I purchased my Comprehensive Insurance Policy with 1Cover on 15 December 2022 for travel to France. At the same time I purchased my flights and accommodation, all which have been paid for. Last week I checked my policy for Caronavirus cover only to find that 1Cover had placed a notice on their website that their Policy coverage position is that their policies contain exclusions to an epidemic or pandemic and regardless of when I purchased their policy and the destination it is unlikely that any claim will be covered if it relates to Caronavirus...Read more
. The reason that I took out cover is that it is underwritten by Lloyds. However, all this counts for nothing. 1Cover has my $568, they are happy, but I am not! What is the point of Comprehensive cover if the insurer can refuse you cover despite there not being a hint of Caronavirus at the time cover the was issued? Surely, 1Cover has an obligation to those who took out insurance before the event. I was to leave this coming Saturday, but I can't travel without insurance cover and I now can't buy cover. Dont recommend!
They don't refund on crisis and epidemics which is unbelievable for an apparent insurance company. Lost $1000 money on accommodation I had booked way back in December before the corona virus outbreak reached Italy and was told they won't cover for corona virus. Wont be trusting 1cover for travel insurance ever again!

Very disappointed in 1Cover
I took out my travel insurance on 1 Jan - well before the corona virus epidemic. Now I find I am not covered for medical or cancellation for any epidemics.
I have used 1Cover for many years - and I certainly will not do so again.
Very disappointing!!!!
I think 1 Cover should step up and provide some cover for those of us who took out our policy before the virus became a known event.

I am also wishing to change my dates booked river cruise and touring for August this year. Qantas has since cancelled out flights and given us a credit which we will use next year. Our river cruise has also given us a credit for next year. I was advised by 1 cover that we cannot get a refund or a credit as we had to do that within 14 days of taking out the cover. I took it out in September, 2022. I always go with 1 cover and have never claimed. All I want is refund or a credit Why won't they discuss it further with me. The girl who took my call wouldn't put me through to anyone else and was very rude

Hi Marie B. I am in the same position you are in. I am more frustrated that this company will not acknowledge any correspondence whether via phone, email or their message service. As you can read on this site many other travelers like us in the same position. Maybe time to add to the complaints on the afca website like others have been saying to. https://www.afca.org.au/make-a-complaint/complain.
Marie, they are now offering vouchers for 18 months credit or a major portion premium refund, or at least that was my experience after complaining to Dept Of fair trading, i did not claim on the policy as i knew i would have no chance of any refund of premium if i did and it was obvious they were not paying anything in relation to corona virus, i would contact ACCC.
I am waiting to hear from 1cover re my cancelled flight to Europe including a European river cruise.. I have not been notified of any offered vouchers or possible refund. This is frustrating. Surely, there has been time for the company to decide and communicate a policy to address the concerns of its clients. John.

Why aren't 1cover refunding money for a risk that will never happen? After months no phone contact and useless bulk generated email. Other companies ARE returning the full premium and answering phones. Australian Seniors is one. Never when I read the clause about pandemics did I think that this would include stealing the full premium when I would never get off the ground. Good business model for the future guys. Theft and no service. Vote with your feet and tell all your friends how great this company is. Why cant we ring? Don't give us the rescuing people story any longer!

Asked the same question myself three weeks ago - no risk to the company because we can't even leave the house for a trip to a country whose borders are closed anyway. But have heard nothing other than I'm in a queue and they will contact me in turn. Very poor customer service.
