Avoid!
My wife and I booked a tour with AAT Kings which were we so excited for. It cost us over $500 which for us is a lot of money. Long story short, my wife was ill and wasn't sure she could make the tour. Even though we had booked it within a few hours, when I rang up the office they said if we couldn't make it, we would be forfeiting our $500. We didn't want to lose our $500 and we felt pressure from the AAT staff, so we got on the tour. My wife did not improve and proceeded to get much worse. She was ill repeatedly and it would have been dang...Read more
erous for her to continue on the tour. An ambulance was called and she went to the hospital, which is where she was for the rest of the day. We did everything in our power to be able to extend our stay and do the tour another day, but it just wasn't possible. They refunded 50% of the amount we paid, which we felt wasn't fair. My wife was in Hospital! We badly wanted to go. We won't be going on any tours with AAT Kings in the future, which is a shame, as we have numerous family members from overseas that will be going on tours with us, just not with AAT Kings.Similar opinion? All we did was ride in a bus for 2 days!!!!
Had to get up and meet the coach at 6:50 am. Drove to another bus and had to sit on the other bus for a half an hour. Then the driver had to go to a hotel to pick up a client who was given the wrong time by attkings. So far on bus 45 minutes and only went 2or3 miles. Got up early for this.
Went to KAKADU and visited one site for pictographs. Bugs were awfull. ATTking didn't warn anyone for bug spray or head net. Waste of time at pictograph as everyone was just slapping bugs the whole time. Tour guide knew nothing about the plant names etc. ...Read more
Gave many excuses but none made sense. The whole day all we did was drive around all day. Been on many tour. This one was a total waste of time and money. All they said to everyone who complained is that it was the travel agents fault. One on tour needed the rest room on route and she drove by a restroom because she wanted to get back to Darwin by five. Drove way to fast. Stayed At Kakadu resort that aatkings booked for us. Bugs everywhere. Clumps of hair stuck together in the sink. The place was a joke. When we took aatking from Alice Springs the bus was earl by an hour. We almost missed our coach to Ayers Rock. Was to be picked up at sails in the desert hotel to take camels to sounds of silence and aatkings was late this time by 45 minutes. Was in Australia for 18 days and attkings was the most UNPROFESSIONAL company we have dealt with in years of traveling. Think twicw before booking.

Disapionting service
I wont be traveling with AAT after they advised incorectly that not 1 - but 3 seperate departures where " Available " only to imform me 3 days later that the items where on Request. No Attempt at helping me find an alternative and now stuck with non refundable flights. Never Again.

Trip for short people & children only
Our group of 5 were last to be picked up from our resort so therefore had the worst pick of the small bus seats. Only seats available were over the wheel humps or right up the back row. My seat was a single over the wheel hump and being 173cm tall i had absolutely no room to put my legs other than in the aisle, therefore i was unable to wear my seat belt and was dreadfully uncomfortable for the entire journey.Upon mentioning the problem to the tour guide/driver we were more or less told that it was bad luck. I feel very angry that i had to pay...Read more
the same price as others and not receive the same comfort. These seats over the wheels should not be used or perhaps offered at a reduced rate. I certainly will never use aat kings again. Shocking seating, especially for a long trip, and bad attitude of the tour leader.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
AATKings bus size and cancelation policy
On Tues, 2 Apr 13, I booked two one day tours from Darwin, the first for Litchfield National Park on Wed, 3 Apr, and the second for Kakadu National Park - for both my wife and myself. I specifically asked and was reassured by Kimberley that although we would be picked up by a small city tour bus we would be transferred to a large coach - very important to me for the needed leg room. Turns out we were on small bus for full day! When I called to cancel the next days tour at 16:20 on 3 Apr from mobile phone while small coach returned to Darwin,...Read more
I was told they could not refund any money. I asked to speak with manager but told none there. I asked for manager to call me back that day. When I explained problem, they had booken confidence with me, I was offered opportunity to reschedule Kakadu tour for one day but no refund or credit towards future trip. My wife went today but I skipped. Strange that I can book with twelve hours notice but can't cancel. Driver knowledgeable and informative. Small coach when told would be large with legroom and no Refund policySimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Extremely Disappointing, Not Recommended.
Where do I start? We have travelled with AAT Kings and APT in 2001 and 2006, both brilliant, stress free, relaxing holidays. Because of this we had no hesitation in booking our 2012 tours with both companies, at no small cost.
The fact that AAT Kings had taken over some of APT operations caused our travel documents to be delayed and were only received 3 days before our departure from the UK, after hastening our travel agent - not a good start. We booked what we thought to be organised tours, 3 Day Red Centre Highlights, 6 Day Top End Esca...Read more
pe, 4 Day Brisbane and Australia Zoo, 4 Day Sydney and Blue Mountains. As it turned out these were just a bunch of day tours badly sewn together using a hotch potch of local companies. Due to our coach being involved in a traffic accident (fortunately no-one was hurt) we were late getting to Uluru and had a whistle-stop tour of Kata Tjuta before the Sunset Drinks and Nibbles at Uluru. The Nibbles were a table of left-over crisp crumbs and wilted vegetables. Our room at the Desert Gardens Hotel was next to the guest laundry which was very noisy, necessitating in reception being called at gone midnight as guests were still using the facility. Not much sleep. The Sounds of Silence dinner was excellent, the saving grace of this tour. Next was our Top End Tour from Darwin. The hotel was very comfortable in Darwin. Next day we set off on our trip to Kakadu, after first enduring an hour of local pick-ups. The trip to Kakadu is a long one, the coach was very comfortable and the driver excellent, Nourlangie Rock interesting and the Yellow Water cruise very good.1 comment

Tours in Kakadu/Arnemland & Alice Springs/ Uluru/The Olgas
On the whole the drivers were excellent, the problems occurred when my dietary needs were not accounted for on the day trips. I have a metabolic disorder (inherited) with the inability to digest sugar (raw/honey/maltodextrin/artificial sugars/glucose/fructose. I was hungry on the tours as although Flight Centre had passed this info to AAT Kings, they didn't pass this on so I basically went without. As I was half expecting this,it meant I lived on snacks for several days. Just how do you get dietary needed catered for on tours then. Planning a tr...Read more
ip to USA/Canada next year. Any ideas? Excellent drivers although some had a little too much to say on the long trips. Their lack of understanding & inability to resolve problems such as my diet. Also why are the trips so hurrried? My husband has MS & simply can'tSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good
We recently went on an escorted coach tour with AAT Kings, through both the north island and south island of New Zealand.
Ours was a low cost escorted tour but I was impressed. The driver was first class and we always felt in extremely safe and capable hands. The tour director was exceptional and several others on the coach, who had done other tours, said she was the best they had come across. Her commentaries were informative and entertaining.
I liked the way the company arranged a seat rotation also. This worked by moving up a number each d...Read more

The tour was amazing mostly cos of the guide!
I was booked on 2 tours with AAT Kings in Melbourne. And both the tours proved to be simply fantastic! Not only were the tours very well organised, but our tour guide for both the days, Roger, was quite the fascinating man. He had so much information to offer and kept the bus full of us entertained all along. All in all, I'd do the tours all over again, given the chance to do so! :)
Well organised, efficient

Well organised with great staff
We booked a Red Centre package with Kings and were pleasantly surprised at how well organised their whole operation is. Staff are well trained, informative and friendly. Tours are professionally operated and treat guests as individuals. We would certainly travel with Kings again and highly recommend them for their professional, well run operation.
Easy.

om the Australian company. He seemed genuinely concerned, gave us his business card and asked us to forward the email we had sent to various AAT Kings Australian offices. He assured us he would forward the letter on and it would not be ignored. To date - August 2014 - after hasteners, we have heard nothing from him or AAT Kings. This company is a disgrace and deserves to go bankrupt.
