So cleverly engineered it doesn't work
This machine tries hard but fails. Instead of periodically removing a full paper filter bag and throwing it in the bin, you now have to try to wash a fine cartridge filter made of some AMAZING filter material which appears to be water repellant. Either the filter needs to be easy to clean properly, or it needs to be economically replaceable, i.e. a paper bag. Over the last couple of years I have found the best way to prevent this clever device shutting down after vacuuming a couple of rooms is to blow the amazing cartridge filter out with compr...Read more
essed air EVERY time we use it. Seems to work better than washing the filter. But it means you take the dust from your house and redistribute it all over your workshop and yourself. Sometimes I clean the Bosch filter with my $100 workshop vacuum. When I finally smash this Bosch machine in frustration I will buy another $100 workshop vacuum for the house and cut out the Bosch middle man. The team of PhD qualified engineers in Boschland who designed this thing obviously have their houses cleaned by Turkish housemaids.2 comments

Don’t recommend for asthmatics
Don’t recommend for asthmatics, emptying and cleaning filter is dirty and the fact you have to shake the filter clean you breath in and swallow a lot of dust, then have to change your clothes, wash the container and all the outside of the filter. The rubber around the nozzle on the ground that sucks goes sticky and collects all the hair and dust ect. Constantly flashes the sensor light and stops regardless of no blockage and everything clean. High maintenance and Disappointed for its price.

Fantastic - great for pet hair
This hoover is easy to use and move around. It has a good long cord and doesn't tip over.
The different heads are really useful - especially the Turbo head for carpets.
It's the best hoover for picking up pet hair (we have 2 cats). The smaller heads are really useful for picking up hair on the sofas.

Terrible terrible terrible
Worst vacuum ever - have taken it back twice and been told there’s nothing wrong with it. Only way I can vacuum without the sensor cleaning alert coming on every 15 seconds is to run it at half speed which is useless as it doesn’t pick up anything. Am continually having to pull the tube apart and pry out stuff which has got stuck - there is a division inside the tube just below the handle which is a nightmare.

Sensor Control Rubbish
I am having the same trouble. My vac hasn't had much use but every 30 seconds it goes into Sensor Control. To get the vacuuming done I have to turn off the vac and start again. Regular cleaning maintained, used mainly on wooden floors and paid way too much money for this piece of rubbish. Harvey Norman sold it very well in comparison to other brands.

OMG SO EASY TO USE
I have fibromyalgia and find this a perfect vacuum to use. Picks up any hair from my puppy and leaves floors clean.
very easy to empty.I was looking for a Miele but this was easier to use.Has a heavy duty vacuum hose. The suction is good as well. Worth a try

Excellent vacuum.
The vacuum sucks very well. It is so quiet that at first I thought it wouldn't take much dirt in, but it does. It is very easy to put the automatic retracting cord in and pack away in the cupboard. Emptying the dirt requires nothing but tipping into the bin & rinsing out with water.

Terrible product
This vacuum cleaner was a replacement of a previous bagless Bosch vacuum which was brilliant. It is supposed to be heavy duty and comes with a large vacuum hose, however this wore out and had holes in it within a couple of weeks just from normal wear. The suction of the vacuum is also effected by the large hose. It doesn't work well even on most powerful setting. It is also noisy for a silent vacuum. I prefer my older model which had room for appliances (the extra heads and nozzles) in the machine and a smaller hose. The cord also winds up when I'm vacuuming which is very annoying. It comes with a self cleaning function which is also annoying as it constantly turns itself off. I can't wait for it to die so I can buy a new one.

Feel Sorry for anyone who was conned by Harvey Norman into buying one!!
I was so upset when my husband came home with the BOSCH zoo vac. I sent him to Harvey Norman to get a Voltra, Miele or Dyson. He said the salesman said the BOSCH was far better than all three! The first time we used it I was really impressed with the turbo head suction. Even though it was heavy, didn't move around corners well & the cord kept pulling I put up with it as it had good suction. Also it's very noisy! The 3 rd time I used it, it stopped every few minutes!. I asked my husband to take it back! He said there's nothing wrong with it and...Read more
offered to do the vacuuming in the future. He refused to admit he was conned so stubbornly he was cleaning the filter and emptying the tiny bit of dirt in bucket 2-5 times each time he vacuums. He's been using his compressor to blast the filter till it looks new! Now the sensor stops it every 15 seconds and he has finally admitted he was conned into buying an expensive piece of rubbish! It is without doubt the worst vacuum I've ever used!! We should all get a refund and a fully paid holiday for putting up with it!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Very disappointed
I purchased this vacuum in October 2015 because I wanted a vacuum that was good for timber floors and worked well. From 6 months onwards it stops working and the red light to clean comes on. It now does not work, and filters cleaned and blown out, and I’ve found out that this seems to be a very common problem.
I still have a Kirby I bought 13 years ago that I’ve only ever had the lead replaced, and still works great to this day on the first floor of our house and does our cars too.
The Bosch is just a bulky as a Kirby and is hard to navigate throughout rooms and the cord does not retract easily either.

A strong vacuum, but, you know, self cleaning issues.
I found these reviews while searching for spare parts as our Zoo Animal has been driving us insane as long as I can remember. Objectively, it's a solid vacuum cleaner that has stood up to years of use, it's a little on the heavy side but has powerful suction when it's running well.
We mainly use the (non-rotating) brush head which does a great job of manually extracting hair from our short-pile carpet, so we haven't bothered with the other attachments including the rotating head. I'm sure they would do a good job.
The elephant in the roo...Read more
m is that the unit is overly sensitive to the cylindrical paper filter being clogged with dirt triggering the sensor clean function. From an early time during our ownership (< 12 months) the vac would stop & clean the filter regularly, even when relatively clean. No matter how clean we got the filter, it would still stop more than we would like. If we let the filter get properly filled with dust the thing spends more time cleaning itself than it does the floor. I already hate vacuuming, and spending so much time waiting for self cleaning literally every minute or so does not help. Ultimately I decided to purchase a new filter to address the issue, but I've found on the Bosch website that you can't purchase just the paper filter (or a pack of them) at a reasonable cost. You need to purchase the entire filter cartridge including handle, lid, plastic/metal cage etc for $104! Half or more of this cost is for components that seem perfectly fine on our unit and don't need to be replaced. I tried to call Bosch today (Saturday), however their support line is manned 24x7 weekdays only, and not at all on weekends. I think 9am to 6pm 7 days per week would be more customer friendly - I have never yet wanted to call for help with an appliance at 3am on a Tuesday, but I often do on weekends...Similar opinion? Great vacuum
We have a dog and she sheds a lot. This vacuum works like magic! It is bagless which is what I’ve been looking for! And the container is huge. But the only downside is it is bit heavy to carry up & down. And the cord can be a little bit longer.

Worst vacuum I have ever owned
This is the worst vacuum cleaner I have ever had, the suction is pathetic, everything about the bagless canister is flimsy, horrible design to change heads, the so called power head just wraps hair around it. The body of it is clumsy and awkward. Drives me mad how it stops to clean filter all the time. I chose this one as it was recommended for my new Rhino Carpet, but to be honest I am quite worried its not even cleaning it adequately.
Wonder if it is a warranty issue or just the worst vacuum ever? Only 5 months old.

Awful. worst vacuum I have ever owned in the over $500 class.
Awful. constant maintenance. cleaning filters makes no difference to overall performance. power head is not actually powered so isn't great at dealing with pet hair. Never again. About 12 months old and sending it to live in the shed and buying an alternative. It takes at least 5 times as long to vacuum as it did with my Dyson as it is constantly self cleaning or meditating or whatever the hell it does when the red sensor light is on.

I am in the market for a new vacuum cleaner
Have owned this for about 4 years, there much that is really good, rubbish enters directly into the collection chamber which is unobstructed unlike my previous Dyson. But same problem as everyone else, it keeps stooping to “ clean”, pressurised air for keyboards works but is expensive. Really Bosch, this is very poor and replacement filters are prohibitively expensive.

Should have bought a Dyson
I paid more than $500 for this vacuum cleaner and get the red sensor light up after only a few minutes of vacuuming. I have called the help line three times. Cleaned and washed the fillter. Made sure all pipes are clear, cleared the dust in the container. I even removed the hepa filter.
I would expect this to last more than a few years.
I see many other people have made this same mistake and have the same issue.
I will be taking a hammer to mine.

Weak suction power after 6 months usage
Mine vacumm Bosch Relaxx'x Prosilence 68 was working very well for 6 months then all of a sudden, it lost suction power.
Say, it was able to pick up a golf ball now it suck 8o% less power.
When open the lid and turn it on, I found the motor is still sucking well, it only loss power at the end of the pipe.
Anyone can help?
Never buy this brand again. Cost a fortune and not working properly is what I can say.

Piece of crap
I have had my vacuum just under two years and it was working fine for the first year and then the one year hit and everything turned to custard. The sensor light keeps coming on every couple of minutes. We got the vacuum cleaner as our dishwasher is a Bosch and is great. Nearly two hours just to vacuum a medium sized house. Its a bloody joke and waste of money. I live in Christchurch New Zealand and it cost us nearly $800 and we can not afford to keep buying vacuum cleaners every couple of years. I emailed Bosch New Zealand to tell them my pro...Read more

Self cleaning fail
The first year worked perfectly, then suddenly the power cord would only pull out to half of its length Now the self cleaning function goes off every 60 seconds. It does this 3 times before the light goes red permanently and it doesn’t work anymore. This is after I’ve followed all the trouble shooting suggestions. For the price I paid I expected a longer life expectancy.

Worst vacuum I have ever used
I can't believe I waited this long to read the reviews which I wholeheartedly agree with. The sensor light is so frustrating, I clean the filters and it just keeps cutting out, I had a miele vacuum for 15 years and never had a day of trouble with it. I have a two storey house wich takes long enough to vacuum without having to stop evey 30 seconds to wait for the vacuum to come back on. I have floorboards on the ground floor and carpet on the top floor, no difference in performance, still cuts out all the time. The power lead is also frustrating...Read more
, if you go a bit too far it wants to retract back in. I work in community care and use a lot of different vacuum cleaners and would have to say this is by far the worst vacuum I have ever used, even the cheapest vacuum cleaner keeps going until the end of the job. This vacuum cleaner should have been recalled and a refund given $700 is a lot of money to spend when a $10 broom does a better job, I would have thought a company like Bosch would have thought more of their reputation. REALLY UNHAPPY.1 comment

Thanks for your question regarding the Bosch BCH6ZOOAU.
