Great product that really does the job!
I hired the Britex carpet cleaner from my local Woolworths today and bought the cleaner and defoamer. The unit seemed quite big initially but it is easy to move around. I have two dogs and my carpets are light coloured with quite a few stains from the dogs so I didn’t have all that high hopes for a good result. The unit is very easy to set up and also to use. Once I started I noticed an immediate result. It does a very good job. It does take a bit of time and heavily stained areas needed a few goes but it got up every stain. Quite phenomenal how much grime it gets up. Needless to say the dogs are no longer allowed in the carpeted rooms. Very happy with the end result.

Great product, works well and cleans your upholstery
I hired a unit for around $40 AUD from my local supermarket, on hire I was suspicious as to wether it would be truly worth my time and effort. I got it home and hooked it up, follow the instructions on the side of the unit and I had a perfectly clean car in no time. It work really well in removing the dirt and grime from the seats as could be told by the color or the water in the waste bucket. I ended up cleaning three of our cars it was that successful. I reccomend watching a how to video on YouTube to get you off to a flying start. Highly recommended!

Definitely Worth it.
Had a house inspection coming up and our carpets were looking very bad having 2 young children who like to eat on the carpet and bring in dirt. I hired the Britex carpet cleaner from Woolworths for 24 hours. The results were amazing. When we moved in there were already stains on the carpet which didn't come out but all the stains we had made all came out. We had a minor flood from the shower that left the carpet very discoloured and that completely came out which was good as it happened months ago.
It was very easy to use. The cleaning produc...Read more
ts are reasonably priced and i still had some left over so i didn't have to get more. I had a question which i then called the Britex customer care and they were extremely helpful. I cleaned the carpets at night and let them dry over night and when we woke they were all dry. Highly recommended. Good price. Good service. Easy to use. Carpets have come up beautifully leaving the house feeling very nice and fresh.

Fabulous steam cleaner!
My brother purchased this house with used unclean high pile carpets. He rented Britex steam cleaner from Buntings for 24 hours to clean them. I thought we needed to change them. He proved me wrong with use of Brite!

Hi Muna,
We’re glad to hear your brother doesn’t need to replace the carpet in his new house – that can be very expensive! The Britex Carpet Cleaner does a great job of rejuvenating the pile and removing dirt and allergens from the carpet.

ide pets a 6 monthly clean is a great idea. The Britex cleaner is designed so that the strong vacuum removes any excess moisture from the pile. It’s important not to oversoak your carpet during the cleaning process - we recommend spraying the water over the carpet in one pass, then vacuuming up the water in the next pass. Stubborn stains may need this repeated. If you follow this process your carpets will be dry in around 2 - 4 hours. The summer months can be a great time to deep clean your carpet but you should also find that your carpets dry within 4 hours in the winter months as well.Similar opinion? Had to have the unit replaced!
Can't go past 1 star on this one. Went and got the cleaner and took home only to fill with the solution and the water and find out the vacuum was broken and turning on and off intermittently. Very frustrating. Took it back and had it replaced on the spot, but had wasted the solution and didn't have that replaced. Took home and spent some good hours on the house only to notice that it really didn't make any real difference to the carpet. I understand that it is a slow process, but in my opinion the product does not work as they advertise.

Inefficient and very loud
I asked my wife to go to Woolworths to get a rug doctor but she got talked into hiring a britex by one of their staff.
I gave it a go when she bought it home, gave it the benefit of the doubt. The carpets were left as a saturated and un-clean mess. This machine simply sprays water over the top of your carpet and sucks it up off the surface (probably around a third gets sucked up), there's no agitator like the rug doctor. It makes a noise as loud as a rocket too. Needless to say the Britex done a horrible job so I took it back to exchange it f...Read more

Love Britex
I've gotten professionals in a couple of times and always disappointed with their results, perhaps it's because they move so quickly through the house.
I much prefer hiring a Britex machine from the supermarket, half a days work and my carpets are clean and fresh. I have a mid-priced Bissell which is utterly useless, will purchase a Britex machine in the future.
I don't find the unit too loud, heavy or have problems with cords tangling.

Does a great job if you use it correctly.
Have been using the Britex in our home for 10 years now and I find it very good. Use to use professional cleaners but found they did a lousy job and weren't thorough enough. I find the best idea is to spray on detergent with wand and leave it for a minute to dissolve dirt and stains, then vacuum it out. Then go over areas that need doing again. I find onlly need 1 capful of defoamer, not 5 like the instructions say or use fabric softener instead. Don't find the machine heavy at all, but can be a bit noisy. But what can you expect, it has to h...Read more

Good product for smaller homes and/or trickier areas
We hired the Britex cleaner from Bunnings for 48hrs - not because we had a lot to clean, but because we wanted to do the house in two stages to prevent kids running over the damp carpet. I honestly didn't expect it to work as well as it did, so was pleasantly surprised. In fact, I don't think I'll bother hiring professional carpet cleaners again, as I was able to remove stains that they had failed to previously, and it wasn't much effort. It was great for getting around furniture that is simply too big/heavy to move. HOWEVER, I will say that ...Read more
there are some potential drawbacks to the machine: - It's heavy and a bit cumbersome - tricky to get around tight corners, though the cord and hose were long enough to accommodate these spaces for us. - It's LOUD. I had intended to do the hall near the kids' rooms after they'd gone to bed, but had to change plans once I realised how loud the machine was. I would seriously recommend hearing protection. - The hoses can tangle which is mildly annoying. Overall though, very happy with the results. I notice some people were unhappy with the price of the cleaning products that it uses and I could see how that would be a consideration for a larger home/home with more carpet, but for 3 bedrooms, a small hallway and a living room, it seemed fair - we still have over half a bottle to use for the next time we hire the machine.Similar opinion? Britex detergent far too too dear
They want $23 for a bottle of 2 lt detergent which you then had to use 3 big cap fulls per 9 liters of water, so about 4 caps per refill of water. Then they want you to buy defoamer, don't, i never do and never have a problem. You can use a small amount of fabric softener which will do the same job. Anybody tried alternatives for the shampoo? $40 hire, $23 shampoo, $12 defoamer, $75 total.... how much to get someone in to do it for you with professional machines?

Does the job but Highly Overrated
First time we carped cleaned was part of the bond requirement when we hired a professional who came with his van with a connected hose/pipe that ran into the house. The job was quick and well done but the carpet was soggy for a day or two. Cannot remember if steam was involved.
This time I decided to DIY our apartment and researched online. Zeroed down to the Britex for the perfect DIY solution. Hired from Bunnings with the extra shampoo/conditioner, defrother and stain remover (for dog diarrhoea) total $100 odd incl. consumables.

Freakin amazing
Works so well. Wont bother getting a professional to do it. Had a dirty as hell carpet due to a high traffic area, you know shoes bringing in dirt rain stuff etc. Was looking pretty grimey. Real estate agent had a go at me at an inspection. Got one of these and was so surprised how clean it got my carpets. Hired from bunnings.

The machine needs a clear lid
The lid is a smoky brown colour. You can not see properly whether it is full or not. Also the water holder should have a handle because it only has a little lip to hold onto so when you empty it, you are struggling to hold onto it. The cleaner is very good but wow it is so loud it is actually stressful. The cords tangle. I have hired it so many times now I am buying one. Hopefully they will bring out a clear lid sometime soon.

Bunnings don't maintain their hire gear
The machine itself was OK. There are three things that could be improved upon:
1. The spray fan only covers about 50% of the width of the suction head, meaning it takes ages to do the job in 10cm wide strips
2. The suction is average
3. Man, the thing is loud! It should come with a hearing protection warning, and should not be hired without ear muffs. I'm half deaf now.
Overall the machine did a reasonable job but it took a long time.

ty. The drain tap on the back of the Britex machine was faulty, and the clean water/soap mix just poured out on the floor when I tipped it in. Thankfully I had a towel handy or it would have well and truly saturated my underlay. I was able to plug it up with blue tak and get the job done. But that's not all. The snap lock fitting on the water hose was loose and the hose kept coming off. The other thing I hired from Bunnings a while ago was a floor sander and the drum wasn't level (kind of important for a floor sander). When I took it back, they told me they knew it was faulty but didn't know how to fix it. It would not surprise me if they knew of the faulty drain plug and just keep hiring the machine anyway. I'll not hire anything from Bunnings again.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Incredible results, even in winter.
Received a free coupon for hire from a friend, used it for the first time, while it was raining and getting colder in Melbourne. Carpets were dried in just under two hours, even though they claim 4. But incredible results, I may just spend some money on it next time lol.

Frustrating
Very heavy for me to lift machine into boot. Hoses kept getting tangled, extremely noisy. Had previously borrowed an upright shampooer and found it much easier. Googled upright cleaner and found a newone for $99 at Godfreys...that's the way I'll go next time

Excellent! Can't go wrong for the price!
I was very unsure on this product and doing it myself. After months of thinking about it I went down to my local Bunnings and hired the machine. I brought 2 cleaning products which cost approx $22. The hire was $38. I cleaned 3 bedrooms and my lounge room. And I'm more then happy with the results. The machine is so easy to use. I just watched the video on how to use the machine and off I went. My carpets have come up brand new. It smells nice, the feel is better and brighter in colour and for approx $60 you can't go wrong. I'll be using this product again on a yearly basis.

Questions & Answers
Theresaasked
How long do you have to leave the carpet to dry before you can walk on it?
1 answer
Britex C.Britex
Hi Theresa,
We recommend leaving your carpet to dry for 2 - 3 hours minimum before walking on it. If you have to walk on the carpet prior to that, try putting clean towels down in the areas where you are walking. Drying is assisted by leaving your windows open on warm days (allowing the air to circulate) or by putting on your indoor heating on if it's a cooler day. We hope this assists.

Will the Britex urine remover get rid of human urine odour? My 3yo son peed on the couch and I washed it with a vacuum but the smell is still there, no stains just a smell which I can’t stand
1 answer
Britex C.Britex
Hi Dora,
Yes it works on all types of urine stains. We would suggest you check the care instructions on your couch before using it and doing a spot test on an inconspicious area of the couch first.
Britex Urine Remover produces enzymes which destroy the source of the odour, rather than just masking it.
